    Free jazz is a 60 year development in the history of jazz, even the mainstream of music today, no musicians can ignore its influence, especially innovators like Ornette Coleman, his ideas and language on the saxophone and his great compositions are still modern, even in institutions which usually ignore anything after 1960.

    You can find the desire to break away from what came before in every style and form.Many artists looked for ways to express outside the boundaries of their community. The way towards the future is defying the gravity of your world going further outward and planting the flag on new levels for the next generation to consume and as always destroy and create a new

    Have a friend who's really into this sub genre. My feeling of this style is what do you do while the music is playing? You can't tap you're feet or snap your fingers. There are no real solos so how do you appreciate the musicians when you see them live?

    Spontaneity’s part of the picture as they’re plenty of charted “free” compositions. while an inexperienced person can “play” free jazz, the concept has more to do with not letting personal limitations hold you back from trying to express yourself as honestly as possible…but even my definition may not be all of it…

    Oh, the subtitles on 2:46 say 1960 but the narrator speaks of `64, which is correct. Just an observation. I´d prefer optional subtitles by the way, but it´s an informative video nonetheless.
