I loved this scene in the first movie. The 1st movie was very cleverly made and designed. In the beginning, Death tried to make his presence secret as he claimed each of the 7 survivors one by one. He hid the water in Tod's bathroom death, tried to be covert in Terry's and Ms. lewton's, etc. As the movie got closer to its end, Death didn't care HOW PRESENT and obvious he was in trying to kill the last remaining two or three survivors. He was so vicious, he became evident. And that was in the live electrical wire....the wire itself was a personified image of Death, or even Death himself in live form.
Something else I loved about the first movie is how it seems like every little thing is out to get them. In the remaining sequels there is this massive build-up and suspension before all coming together for the kill. In this movie, it's like every little thing was after them. In Ms. Lewton's death, you see the computer explode, the fire follow her, the vodka bottle explode, the knife fall, etc. In this scene, you have the wire try to hit her, the flying metal hanger, the electrical wires shorting out all around her, etc. It gives the impression that no matter where you try to run, you are not safe.
Every near-end climatic scene in Final destination is epic :) 2 - The hospital saving the baby 3 - The county fair disasters 4 - The mall explosion 5 - The restaurant fight

This was my favorite Final Destination movie so far. It was kind of like a slasher film and had the best climax of them all. Sure, it was cliched, but it was awesome.
If "Death" is a god that can do all of this, why doesn't he just have everyone die from heart attacks instead of all this stuff that has a small chance of actually happening? Maybe he's just sadistic? :P
