The opening 30 minutes is amazing but for me it kinda goes downhill after that (not saying the rest is bad I just think it’s not as good as the opening part). Other than that I think it has good parts and bad parts but is overall ‘fun’. Maybe it’s just my nostalgia🤷🏽

The Clone wars Show makes ROTS even more tragic because of how much time we got to spend with Anakins character, he was genuinely a good friend and person willing to do anything to save his friends, even if it meant dabbling in the dark side to accomplish said goals.
Clone wars goes even further by giving depth to why Anakin distrusts the Jedi order, because not only did they have a secret plan involving a staged death of his master using his emotions against him, but they also took part in his Padawan Ahsoka leaving the order because they failed to own up to their mistakes and merely passed it off as *The force working in mysterious ways.* in Ahsoka’s situation I would’ve left the order too.
Clone wars did many things that improved the prequels, expanding on the fundamental flaws within the Jedi order was one of the things it did exceptionally well, not to mention giving The Senate scenes proper weight in the story nearly ending the war on several occasions due to the cost on both sides, but we know how that worked out in the end.

  • @Heyiya-if

I goddamn love Anakin Skywalker as a character.
Out of the three prequels, RotS is definitely the best. One could absolutely argue that the dialogue is written in a clunky manner, but it is also possible to view that as a stylistic choice á la Tolkien. The story arc is an oldfashioned medieval tragedy of arthurian proportions, and the slightly stilted style actually fits it, I would not be so sure that it was not intentional - of course one can still argue that maybe it did not unequivocally succeed, but a lot of that is down to taste.
As for the storyline and his fall? I really never understood how someone thought that was 'sudden'. Not even before Clone Wars - which just served to make it clearer. But even before then - hell no this was not 'sudden'. It ws pressure on pressure until the camel's back broke.. A very classic example, similar to Norse and Celtic mythological cycles, of the complex interplay between how destiny *will* run its course, but *how* it will happen is the thing that is up for grabs and that is why our choices and actions are still important. Anakin brought balance to the force, and it ended up happening with the maxium suffering involved. It didn't have to be that way, and that is the tragedy, not just of him but of the jedi and the galaxy at large.
Also yeah, Christensen's acting is fine. Nothing wrong with it.

You bring up a good point about how to watch Star Wars. Because yeah if you watch it 1,2,3,4,5,6 then “I am your father” isn’t a twist. But in a way it already isn’t. A lot of people know that quote that have never watched Star Wars. I do recall a quote that George intended that it’s supposed to be watched prequels first and that’s why he numbered them

I always watch from episode 1 because if you do it that way it truly does feel like the saga starts off good and then only grows in quaility. It does'nt make the reactions to the I am your father twist any less valid infact I think it makes it stronger because now you know the story about Anakin but Luke does'nt and it makes him finding out even more heartbreaking.

    • @morganyoung3557
      @morganyoung3557 2 года назад +3

I guess if you somehow found someone who never heard anything about Star Wars, what would you like to be a bigger shock to them, Luke finding out his father is Darth Vader or Anakin who started out as a genuinely good person slowly falling to darkness on how you want to introduce Star Wars to that person. Sadly at this point most people who haven’t seen Star Wars know about Darth Vader telling Luke that he is his father because that is a scene so ingrained in pop culture that it would be kind of hard to find someone who would be caught off guard by it like what probably would have happened when people went to see it in the theaters in 1980.

    • @TooSweet353
      @TooSweet353 Год назад

By the way what I mean by it doesn't add much, it doesn't add anything to Alderaan being blown up, Anakin and Obi-Wan's "friendship" is mostly skipped over, they barely interact in TPM and AOTC, they seem to hate each other, arguing, scolding each other and gossiping against each other, never agreeing, I don't think there's an act of genuine friendship, even when Obi-Wan is in danger, Padme convinces Anakin to save him.
Then it's skipped over to them being friends all of a sudden in Revenge of the Sith for 20 minutes before they have to be separated.
The Clone Wars aren't exactly shown in great detail, since The Clones aren't even Storm Troopers, it doesn't add much to the threat of The Storm Troopers.
The Jedi Order are mostly hypocritical idiots(they can be hypocrites but why are they idiots, someone commissioned the Clones of the guise of a dead Jedi and with the fake authorisation of the Jedi + The Clones are based of someone who's in leagues with the villain and they still use the Clones). I mean... it doesn't really paint the Jedi in any positive way so when Luke wants to be one, if I watch the prequels first, I'll just think why would you want to be a hypocritical idiot.
It adds to Vader's redemption and Palpatine's threat(even though I find his plan to be a bit nonsensical, c'mon creating two armies to start a war you created so that you can be democratically elected is a bit too elaborate and well... it is prone to many mistakes, at least it's not as bad as The Rise of Skywalker plan and it worked so it had to be something) but that's it, the OT could be watched without the context of the prequels and not much will change.

Honestly, looking at the overall saga and how it impacted me and such, Revenge of the Sith is not only my favorite Star Wars prequel, but my favorite Star Wars movie ever!
It bridges the gap between the prequel and original trilogy, as well as the other movies, games, books, etc. It has a lot of great action sequences, the music is the best in the saga, which is impressive with how good the music is throughout the series. It's the most emotional, yet the most fun as well, and I would say it is everything I love about movies and the Star Wars Saga!
I enjoy all the movies and other stuff, but if you ask me what symbolizes the whole saga, it's Revenge of the Sith!

Every plot that Revenge Of The Sith had made sense!
For example, the nightmares that Anakin had is Palpatine’s doing. He gave him the visions to manipulate Anakin and make him believe that Padme will die giving birth. That’s a good villain arc. And not only does Palpatine fool everyone in Star Wars. He’s fooling the audience too! Here’s why:
And do you know why Palpatine’s face melts and not Mace Windu and Luke? It’s because “Palpatine” is just a really good disguise. The actual Chansellor does look like he does in the OG trilogy. He always has looked like that. That’s why Windu and Luke don’t melt.
And the character development that Anakin gets is one of the best parts about the entire trilogy. He went from a great Jedi Knight to a Dark Sith Lord. But one thing that Star Wars fans never understood about Darth Vader. He was never evil. He was just confused and manipulated by The Emperor. That’s why Darth Vader and Anakin are my favorite Star Wars character.
And I can’t make a long ass comment about Episode III without mentioning the Mustafar fight. That is the best lightsaber duel in the entire franchise. It has personality, and a reason for existing. And of course “The Highground” scene was a heartbreaking scene. The acting performance from Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen is cinema history at some of it’s best. I started crying like a goddamn baby when Obi Wan told his final speech to his best friend. The severe burn wounds Anakin got after that scene still disturbs me.
And I need to talk about the music. “Anakin’s Betrayal” is my favorite Star Wars track of all time. It fits the tone of the movie perfectly. Revenge Of The Sith has the creepiest soundtrack in the entire franchise. The scene where Anakin sits in the council room waiting for Windu and the other Jedi Knights to return. That choir is haunting to listen to.
    Movie score: 10/10

Apart from the odd dialogue this one isn't even that bad.
I don't even mind the prequels, Episode II yes is abysmal in many areas, but it also has a lot of good moments, the speeder chase segment, the battle of genosis seeing Jedi in their prime for the first time was magical.
I think Revenge of the Sith is my favourite prequel because of the lava duel, there's just something about that scene that I love so much and I honestly don't care that it goes on for 15+ minutes.
Revenge of the Sith is my favourite one of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy because I quote it all the time. When I was a little I had speech problems because of my Autism and I can clearly remember as I was developing my speech using quotes from the film to express my emotions, I still do lol.
I always found Anakin relatable, especially being a teenager now who's a bit like him except I haven't committed mass genocide on sand people and I don't suppress my emotions. 😂

This is my favorite Star Wars movie. The Empire Strikes Back is also top tier, but this one…oh boy, THIS ONE is a MASTERPIECE!! If I had one word to describe Revenge of the Sith, it would be: INTENSE. The emotion, the fight scenes, the wide sweeping shots of the spaceships flying around with the camera trying to keep up, but my favorite part has to be THAT SOUNDTRACK!! OH MY GOD THIS SOUNDTRACK IS PLATINUM LEVEL
SPECTACULAR!! The RAW scenes with no dialogue show off John Williams at his FINEST!! The final blow to Anakin with Obi-Wan heartbroken is still the most emotional scene I’ve ever seen in any movie! It STILL hits me like a TRUCK to this day! But to cap it all off, the final two minutes of this movie has no dialogue and wraps up everything without saying a word. It finishes the prequels and simultaneously catches up with A New Hope FLAWLESSLY!! You know EXACTLY what the characters are doing, thinking, and feeling ALL by JUST the scene and the soundtrack. Absolute PERFECTION!! Yeah, I do think Count Dooku and Grevious add almost nothing to the plot and Anakin still has one or two cringe lines, but I honestly don’t even care. This movie is so in-your-face spectacular it’s like riding a roller coaster. The Empire Strikes Back has its own unique take that feels more like a spring joyride. It’s just as enjoyable while being more subtle and less bombastic. I love both movies but Revenge of the Sith makes me FEEL so intensely, which is what cinema is all about. Great review! 👍🏻🔥

The thought and reality of facing off against Obi-Wan destroyed Anakin inside because he knew, deep down, that Obi Wan loved him, and even Palpatine's evil couldn't make Anakin rationalize a way that Obi Wan isn't a good guy. When he sees him, he tries to suppress it, but he's remembering the last time they spoke to each other as friends, when even though Anakin was holding his secrets and his grievances, he knew that Obi Wan was his true brother. He's acting out of sheer self-preservation, and I think deep down he knows that he is wrong, but he's in too deep. He hoped that Obi Wan would die anonymously like all the other knights. It was Obi Wan's survival that destroyed Anakin. He spent twenty years knowing the grave error he had made, and that's why he says in A New Hope, "No, I must face him alone."

Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars movie. The entire episode has constant eminent darkness and tension hanging over, while never bogging down in pace or action. It has by far the best lightsaber battles and arguably the lightsaber battle with the most weight behind it in the series- Anakin finally betraying his master in blind rage after more than a decade of being, at least in his opinion, stifled and lied to by the Jedi. He’s constantly conflicted and the other Jedi can sense it. The most powerful being in the universe is manipulating him, and he believes that psychopath is what can save his wife from the same fate of his mother. Order 66… nuff said. General Grievous bs Obi-Wan, Yoda vs Palpatine, Anakin Vs Obi-Wan. Dialogue is actually good for a Star Wars movie, and the cinematography is by far the best of the first 6 episodes. Imo, this is Star Wars’ magnum opus.

I've always liked this movie the most, even when I was a kid. Didn't really know why, until I rewatched it being older. Such a great movie. Probably the most engaing storyline in Star Wars history for me. Such a shame the originals were so overrated and the prequels were bashed by angry fans, who didn't like a different approach.
Attack of the Clones and the Phantom Menace are good movies IMHO, too. Attack of the Clones especially is really underrated. Yeah, the dialogue is wooden sometimes, but the Originals had wooden dialogue, too

To counter the ESB plot twist, it's no longer a plot twist as people who have never seen star wars before know that plot twist, know that Vader is Luke's dad. What people DON'T know if they've never watched Star Wars before is that Anakin turns into Vader, something that's ruined if you watch the OT prior to the Prequels, yet if you watch the Prequels first, is STILL one of the biggest plot twists of all. Hell, I'd go further to say that Vader's reveal in Empire is even less impactful in this day and age, especially when you still hear people butcher his line while saying in Vaders voice "Luke, I am your father."

please hear me out. I use to think like you do but I re-watched all the star wars movies and it made me realize that if you take them too seriously you'll force yourself to have a bad time. you have to have fun with them and accept them for what they are. In addition i realized that on paper Anakin is one of the greatest characters ever, a child with so much potential, but lacking that ideal father figure (qui gon jinn). This leads him to have severe anger issues and social awkwardness. Its been proven with real world statistics that children that grow up without an ideal male role model are more likely to rebel. He's a deeply flawed character, he try's his best but fails again and again because of his own personal demons. Now that being said, some of what I just said wasn't handled the best in the prequels🤣. A lot of it was rushed or not properly explained. Despite the issues, Anakin is still one of personal favorites characters ever.
I would also suggest watching Cinema wins series on everything great about the prequals. he does a pretty good job at explaining the good of the prequals despite there flaws. He also breaks down the story and the dialogue as well.
everything great about The Phantom Menace: ruclips.net/video/QppINK042N8/видео.html

everything great about Revenge Of The Sith: ruclips.net/video/_KSbwAJT8RE/видео.html
while I can only say that revenge is a good movie, I do indeed have a genuine love for the prequels. Clone Wars also add layer and characterization to many of the characters in the prequels.

@@Rdc_Dom Yeah I have watched the cinemaWins videos, and I agree with a lot he says about episode 3. Not so much the previous films thought. And what you said about «not taking things too seriously», I do somewhat agree. You could totally put this movie on, with a group of friends and have a good time. Maybe have a good laugh about some of the bad delivery, but mostly a genuine good time. What frustrates me is that all the puzzle pieces are there, but George didnt put them together properly. This movie is so close to being a cinematic masterpiece on the same level as the original, or even the empire strikes back. And while you can just turn your brain off and have a good time, this is a movie that begs you to think about it on a deeper level. Its hard to get invested when the movies main arc is poorly structured, and its hard too just have a good time when the action set pieces are far too long. Maybe I could learn to forgive these flaws with time, but for now I see this movie as the most dissapointing Star Wars movie. Not the worst, but the most dissapointing. It would be wrong of me to rate this movie higher than a 5, or even a 6/10.
      Oh, and also Yoda. Help

Listen man I totally understand, I have a lot of problems with this film too and what it could have been. If this series had been my honest opinions on these films there’d be a lot more criticism, but instead I try my absolute hardest to only mention the good things. It’s a test for me becoming more positive and appreciative which I think is healthy:) As a Star Wars fan I love this film, but as a film fan it leaves a lot to be desired. I feel your pain sometimes

@@beyondthecamera333 As for the cinema wins videos everything he said makes perfect sense and lines up with what Lucas invisioned for the prequels, qui gon being the ideal father, obi wan being too young, jealous, and immature to properly train Anakin, why would Anakin have good pick up lines if he's been forced to sterilize himself due to the Jedi, Anakin's emotional instability, and the Jedi of this era loosing their true nature. The prequels aren't objectively good but they are entertaining as fuck and tell a good story. They have some horrendous dialogue and yet, they're some of the most quotable movies ever. "Hello there." As for yoda I'm fine with him using a lightsaber, Yoda vs Sidious is one of my favorite saber fights.
well my rant is over...seems as if I may not be able to help you my friend😔. Good video, but some really horrendous takes. If Lucas didn't want the Prequels to be seen first without previous knowledge of the movies, he wouldn't have numbered them 1 through 6 like he did. The whole saga makes much more sense when watched properly like he intended, the Prequels coming first of course.
You talk about the twist in Empire like it should determine the whole franchise, which is an absurd argument, and even if that argument held up, the twist in Revenge of the Sith of Anakin going evil is much much more impactful to the story (not to mention it was actually planned ahead, unlike the "I am your father" twist), and is completely lost when watching in release order.
You people talk about film like it was made just to suit your own needs and experience, without realising that Lucas was thinking about how the saga is going to be watched a hundred years from now, when everyone that watched it on cinema will be dead. By then, everyone should know that they're supposed to be watched in the order he intended.
