    Will you be selling a budget/net worth spreadsheet? I LOVE the color/design choices you made with this one and would 100% buy a budget spreadsheet of yours. :)

    hi there lauren thanks for such a great video. Im having an issue in the payments and interest section. My payments show under month 1 and 2 but the interest doesn't calculate

  • @oliviasimmons5262
    @oliviasimmons5262 3 года назад +1

    Is there a place to enter the interest rate where it is calculated into the formula? I’m just wondering how it’s calculated in the interest paid box. I just bought the spreadsheet and I’m eager to get it started! Thank you for creating this.😊

    • @laurensmoneymindset
      @laurensmoneymindset  3 года назад +5

      Thanks so much for your purchase!! No, you don’t have to enter the interest rates. When you enter you balances at the beginning of each month, the spreadsheet calculates how much debt was paid off. Then, when you enter your payments you made throughout the month, it subtracts the difference between the payments made and the debt paid off, giving you the amount you paid in interest that month.

    • @trevorlyons20

      @@laurensmoneymindset Is the interest still going to be accurate for those times when extra payments are made? Thank you for making this available. I'm filling mine out now and was just curious

  • @TiaDurrant
    @TiaDurrant Год назад

    So I am curious how it accurately calculates the interest. How does it know if an extra payment was made? Or how much of the payment actually went to the the principal vs. interest?

    • @laurensmoneymindset
      @laurensmoneymindset  Год назад

      When you put in your balance each month, it calculates the difference from the previous month, ie how much principal was paid off that month. Because you also enter your payments for the month, it also can calculate how much went to interest..total payments minus principal paid off = interest paid. Hope that helps!

    Awesome job with this spreadsheet and video tutorial Lo! I’ve really been enjoying your videos and following along on your debt free journey. I saw that this spreadsheet is an instant download to google docs. Is there any way it can be downloaded to excel?

    • @laurensmoneymindset
      @laurensmoneymindset  3 года назад

      Thanks so much! I don’t have Excel so I can’t test it myself, but I asked a friend to try it and they said that if you open it in Google Sheets, then click “File” then “Download” and then “Microsoft Excel” then it opens and seems to work just fine! I like Google Sheets though because I can update and access my spreadsheet from my phone and my laptop. Plus I can share it with others (in my case my husband) so we can both update and review it.

    Yay! I just bought a copy! Spreadsheets aren't my strong suit but I'm learning! My budget spreadsheet (from Frugal Fit Mom here on YT) is actually also on Google Sheets so I can stick to one simple platform and not deal with Excel or Numbers. I have one question before I start setting this one up. I'm in the process of changing banks and part of that is that the new bank is going to consolidate 3 of my debts which are at my old bank into one loan with a lower interest rate. Should I wait until I get my new loan and then start tracking my debt payoff? Or is there a way to start now and switch it over when I get my new one? Maybe 'pay off' the 3 old debts on the spreadsheet and add a new debt? Will that mess everything up? I'm not exactly sure when I'll be signing the new loan and I hate having to wait to start tracking. If you think of a way that I could do this, I'd love to hear it!

    • @laurensmoneymindset
      @laurensmoneymindset  3 года назад +1

      Thanks so much for your purchase! I think the simplest way to set it up, since you know that you will be consolidating 3 loans, is to treat them all as a single loan now on the spreadsheet. Just total the three loans and use the combined balance as the starting balance for that row and name it “Consolidation Loan” or something like that. That way when the refi is complete, you don’t have to make any changes!! So excited for you and good luck!

    • @mjarsenault
      @mjarsenault 3 года назад

      @@laurensmoneymindset Thanks, I hadn't thought of that option but I think it will be the simplest way to track while making the switch. Especially since I'm expecting the new loan to happen before the end of February... so really I'm just tweaking it for a month or two at the most.

    Does it make sense to add a car loan if you are leasing? I ask because it's a fixed term with fixed payments. It will always be $xxx.xx every month for X months until the lease ends.

    • @laurensmoneymindset
      @laurensmoneymindset  Год назад

      I don’t think so since you will have to return the car at the end so it’s more like a “rent” payment than a debt payment, if that makes sense

      $5.99 for this particular one, $14.99 for the bundle. Not sure if the prices changed, but honestly, it's worth it if it helps you get organized and paying off debt. It's the cost of a few fru-fru coffees.
