    For the talent and skills required, I always felt they should be on a much higher pay scale!

    • @gymnast2890
      @gymnast2890 4 года назад +3

      There's no pay scale! The few who make the Olympics & do well may be compensated. They pay with their lives & their bodies. When they quit it's like " Who AM I"?
      Their entire identity is tied up in the sport.
      If they escape without a broken body, it catches up fast.
      It's the most brutal sport (aside from boxing & MMA) but they start as small children & are finished by their early 20's, if that, with few exceptions.
      With the age going up, it makes it more brutal, as gymnasts usually peak around 13 or 14 & puberty can & HAS destroyed the best.
      Carly Patterson, the 1st gymnast to win Gold AA (USA) in a real Olympics, not boycotted by the best team, her birthday fell just right, she competed, won, quit & had back surgery.
      Nastia Luikin missed the birthday cut off date by a few months & had to wait FOUR years for her chance, in which she battled a fractured foot & numerous injuries. Then the identity crisis afterward.
      They also give up a normal childhood.
      Peace&love❤

      I can see how it's possible. Martha k. was the king pin and everyone was scared of her and USA gymnastics. From interviews it was apparent that getting out of line/ rocking the boat was not tolerated. But remember, he also raped hundreds of collegiate athletes. No one said anything. I always find it so strange a man can rape hundreds of girls/women.. and no one says anything. Maybe 4 or 5..okay...But hundreds? It's the same with Bill Cosby..and Weinstein....rape hundreds of women for years and no one spoke up.

      zanaquilo Gonzalez if that were my daughter I’d be the same way. It’s sickening to find out how many people knew about what he was doing and didn’t take the girls seriously. As far as hard time, there are a number of people who belong in prison with him. The Dean and the head gymnastics coach at MSU both of whom knew what he was doing and intimidated the victims into silence. The Title 9 Officer who omitted in the report that the accuser pushed Nassar off of her and he had an erection, and just dismissed it as ‘medical treatment. To say the least

    This is awesome. I love seeing the real training that they do. I’m in so much awe of these girls for their gymnastics especially the beam wow amazing what courage. Wish I could come and try and train with them. I’m a yogi who recovered from a tilted pelvis and bad twisting muscles through daily yoga and love it. I practice everyday and am getting into some more advanced balances now. I’m still dealing with sore left hip but it’s trying to adjust and release. I have to say it’s girls like these that inspired to want to have a strong and flexible body. Thanks for the video it motivates me 😃❤️🔥🤸🏽‍♀️😅

      Maroney was saying how USA gymnasts are trained to their deaths. Every day working their butts off, not giving their bodies a chance to relax, to heal. Gymnastics is a sport that is so taxing on your body that if you don't give your body time to rest, it will give out and you could get seriously injured. These gymnasts were taught that resting was being lazy and not working when in reality resting is vital to succeeding in the sport. This constant training is going to kill (literally or figuratively) these gymnasts if they don't give their bodies a break.
