Me too. I wasn't convinced you'd be able to restore the outer box convincingly especially with its texture, but I'm pleased you proved me wrong! Now, I have an identical box from my Omega Seamaster in a similar condition which needs the same treatment! Thing is, can I pull it off?!!
There is just a little more love in the world today!!!! I have this exact same box. It started to deteriorate the same day I bought my Speedmaster. I’d almost resigned myself to the fact that it would never be nice again. I rationalized that it had “patina”. Now, I see that it can be restored. I love you, my brother, even more. Your passion for your work is inspiring.
Master Joe can make things look easy peasy afternoon of fun.... not a chance in the ten levels of hell would I risk touching my box and papers. That is what sets us apart, we can watch, enjoy and dream we can do stuff, HE on the other hand is the master for a reason, years and years of experience and knowledge. I'd be way to scared of playing around with mine. Bit if you do... lol be sure and post pics.
So was I - though if you'd mixed them and the colour came out wrong, you'd have wasted a lot of paint.... still, that's the way you learn. He did a great job with this!
Joe, you are a restoration pioneer. The use of the packaging foam as an abrasive was brilliant. My only disappointment was that you didn't find a way to use your lapping machine in the restoration. Looking forward to the final episode with much anticipation. 😊
Yeah that gricks really helped me on my woodworking projects. I'm restoring some tables, but they're old and the tops are veneered so too much sand will go straight through, but that packaging tricks really helped with the bits where it was thinnest so i didn't get bald spots.😊👍
Joe, you are, as always, a beacon of positivity and good vibes in a world with a decreasing supply of both. I came to your channel for the watches, but I found a delightful kook who delights in sharing his love for watchmaking, his family, pop culture, and humanity at large with his audience. Keep doing what you're doing, my brother, and know that you bring joy to our lives.
If someone had told me you have to watch a 'box' restoration video ... twice! I would have been concerned. I hope you don't get tired of hearing this, but your skill, expertise, and joy is truly a pleasure for us mortals to partake. All my best to you and your family, sir.
Seriously? When I first starting watching your videos I was, why am I watching a repair video on a watch. I’ll never have the tools nor the eye sight to work on something so intricate. And NOW you have me watching a restoration video of the box it came in??? Ok now you have to show me how to repair your repair tools that wear down lol!!! Awesome restoration on the box!
I still find it amazing I found watching this video so absorbing. You should write a book entitled ‘Zen and the Art of Watch Box Restoration.’ You are true artisan and a genuinely nice guy to boot! Kudos to you. And peace!
Woa this one left me speechless! This restoration reminded me of the Toy Fixer from Toy Story. “ITS FOR DISPLAY ONLY!” “ITS LIKE NEW!!” Can’t wait to see the next Jedi video!
Great result! As others say I was surprised of how good it turned out. I have restored many older Omega boxes, the red ones from the 1960’s, the smaller ones. They often miss the inserts with the velvet covered metal stand. I bought red velvet, 0.5mm metal sheets and cut out copy’s of the stand and covered with the red velvet. Looks pretty good, specially of you give it some patina to match the rest of the box!
Amazing work Joe! I like everything horology and this made me realise how much fun and satisfying can be a box restoration. It certainly is easier than waiting forever for a perfect box to turn up on fleabay.
Needed a new fabric layer, but I know a youtuber or two that would most certainly collaborate. Bedo's leatherworks knows what he's doing when it comes to fabrics, dad was a shoe maker, he runs a repair shop.
Turned out beautiful! I kept saying Add some raspberry, add some raspberry! It gave just a touch of magenta pink to the strong reds. Lovely restoration.
Thank you in advance for any help or guidance. I enjoy your videos and have learnt plenty, and your skills made me more determined to achieve great results thanks Joe
Something completely different for once, and guess what, you absolutely nailed it again. Beautifully done! It has less leather look but it stil looks like it could have come straight from the factory. Well done and really enjoying for a change.
You truly approached this challenge with passion. In my younger years I have done work similar to this with mixed results, sometimes flops and sometimes surprised by the magic.
You Sir are an artist. I can't believe how well it came out. I have three older Rolex that only 2 came with boxes and one with papers. I found the right year boxes that were made in China. It really makes a difference. I hate buying fakes but I'll tell if anyone buys it. I put boxes in my car rear window to have uv light hits it and made it look ole and weathered. What a great job you did. Thank goodness the model number and serial numbers tells the information you would ever need. That's what is great about Rolex. Neal
Thanks for this one (and, of course, for All the other ones)!!! I have an old omega from the mid-50’s : it doesn’t have a box, but if I find a battered one, now I know it can be restored! What a Great channel this is! (This came out a bit Yoda-like) Grazie!
It looks absolutely perfect and never would have imagined this was possible. Amazing. My dad gave me his 1950s Constellation but the box is very basic. This one is very elegant. Fancy fancy
I’ve been fortunate enough to buy omega new. That is genuinely impressive. That box was for the bonfire. Keeping one of mine in the protective cardboard box has led to the case melting into whatever solvent was used to glue the cardboard and damaged the faux leather front. You have inspired me Sir. It doesn’t mean I’m going to do it - but I now know it can be done 😂
I watch this channel because of the fabulous job you do when bringing the old and broken timepieces back to life, with your subtle, and often hilarious one liners and, your obvious flair for, bringing horology to RUclips, not to watch you refurbish a box, you seem to be straying, please consider going back to your previous very entertaining content. Thank you.
I have an idea that the case exterior was "flocked" or a spray fiber application. Your restoration using paint is top notch! Glad it worked out as nicely as it has.
Wow! Just WOW! I realize that you give some pushback when you are called an artist here, but that restroation was pure beauty. Clearly a work of art. The thought. The effort. The results. Keep up your wonderful work, and I await the finished watch with much anticipation. Thank you for these awesome videos of your neverending journey into the timeless glory of restoring the various pieces of time.
Everytime I think you can't impress me anymore you puII something out the bag and drop my jaw. Anyone that has ever had one of these vintage boxes knows they fIake so badIy it's great to know a few tips and tricks to revive them.
I love all your videos and always get excited when you upload a new one!!! When I saw this one I really didn’t think you’d be able to restore that box should never have doubted what an amazing job you have done well done!!! Can’t wait to see that watch got excited as thought you were about to give us a peak 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Next time you need to remove old paint from fabric, give the adhesive tape trick a try! It worked like a charm early in the video when you peeled off a bit of old tape.
Your superb craftsmanship is just on an entirely higher level! I can honestly say that your work has really inspired me to pay more attention and focus on my own projects. It really has made a difference in the quality of my work. Thank you!
I love these projects, not really what one is supposed to do in this throw away age. But just a great job. Your patience and skill holds me in awe. I await a Happy New Year of projects.
Wow, just wow! I had my doubts but goood Lord man u nailed it!! I would of never thought to restore a watch box but brother that is impressive given the materials.
I was surprised with how well it turned out. Should never have doubted.
Thanks Jeffrey
Why would you ever have doubted the Nekkid Watchmaker? 🤔
Great. Excellent results as usual.
Me too. I wasn't convinced you'd be able to restore the outer box convincingly especially with its texture, but I'm pleased you proved me wrong! Now, I have an identical box from my Omega Seamaster in a similar condition which needs the same treatment! Thing is, can I pull it off?!!

If you decide to restore it, drop a before and after picture for us,

I never thought I'd be watching a video about restoring a watch box, but here I am.... and I'm loving every second of it. Thank you.
That came out sweet! When you were deciding what color to use, I was yelling at the screen, mix them man! 😂😂😂 Beautiful job my brother!
Thanks mate
So was I - though if you'd mixed them and the colour came out wrong, you'd have wasted a lot of paint.... still, that's the way you learn. He did a great job with this!

I use packaging foam to rub dead skin off my feet.
When I saw that you were doing a restore on this , all I could think was "How the Hell is he gonna pull that off?".
Absolutely amazing Joe.
Something about you Joe that always makes me giggle. Great family bloke.

Here here
Even boxes deserve a second chance.
2:35 am and couldnt have asked for anything better
Always amazed at what projects you take on! How do you know so much about so much! A real artist, craftsman.
Awesome job! Was a little worried at the start but it all came together.
Thanks!
This is my favorite video across all of youtube so far in 2023. I've never even considered that old boxes could be restored. Bravo!
This was spectacular. Your default is genius. But this was on another level. The box was a bonus.
If someone had told me you have to watch a 'box' restoration video ... twice! I would have been concerned. I hope you don't get tired of hearing this, but your skill, expertise, and joy is truly a pleasure for us mortals to partake. All my best to you and your family, sir.

Woa this one left me speechless! This restoration reminded me of the Toy Fixer from Toy Story. “ITS FOR DISPLAY ONLY!” “ITS LIKE NEW!!” Can’t wait to see the next Jedi video!
I didn't believe this box could look good. I wouldn't know where to start. Way to go! The effect is stunning as always.
Great result! As others say I was surprised of how good it turned out. I have restored many older Omega boxes, the red ones from the 1960’s, the smaller ones. Beautiful restoration! Your attention to detail is outstanding.
You have the work ethics of Steve Bedos, the leather man, he repairs and restores lots of worn out items. Great job and great video👍👍👍🕒👞
Needed a new fabric layer, but I know a youtuber or two that would most certainly collaborate. Bedo's leatherworks knows what he's doing when it comes to fabrics, dad was a shoe maker, he runs a repair shop.
Oh my, that packaging sponge cleaning trick was amazing. A great Nekkid watchmaker episode and not a watch in sight!!! well almost!
Turned out beautiful! I kept saying Add some raspberry, add some raspberry! It gave just a touch of magenta pink to the strong reds. Lovely restoration.
Thanks mate
That turned out much better than I expected! Great job.
Thank you in advance for any help or guidance. I enjoy your videos and have learnt plenty, and your skills made me more determined to achieve great results thanks Joe
A beautiful result! Congratulations for such a fine job!

Joe gone mad lad! This is awesome and looks fantastic!! Great job Joe!
Thanks Patrick
Very impressive restore. Turned out great!
Superb job as expected. Admire your humorous tenacity!
Yelling at the screen use the raspberry. Loved this video and you are joy to watch and listen to. Lovely restoration.
It turned out really well. You're an artisan, tenacious and methodical with oodles of patience...watchmaker!
Your hairy caterpillar vacuum is amazing, you have a tool for everything!
Something completely different for once, and guess what, you absolutely nailed it again. Beautifully done! It has less leather look but it stil looks like it could have come straight from the factory. Well done and really enjoying for a change.

Awesome job! And I love seeing the experimentation on screen. After all, every object we have was born from experimentation.
It looks absolutely perfect and never would have imagined this was possible. Amazing. My dad gave me his 1950s Constellation but the box is very basic. This one is very elegant. Fancy fancy
You nailed it Joe! Great job, and looking forward to the next video!
Excellent work! This was fascinating. It had never occurred to me that box restoration was a part of the watchmaker’s art.
I’ve been fortunate enough to buy omega new. That is genuinely impressive. That box was for the bonfire.

What a stunning transformation. You are a true master of your craft
Great Job my friend excellent paint matchup , and fabric tear down technic with the foam and sand paper . Truly a master of all horology trade's.
Makes me wish I had the watch box for my fathers Omega from 1962 if it had a box. Outstanding job.
*Wow so you not only fix watches but now also fix and repair watch boxes... it looks fabulous.*
Brilliant! It looks fantastic! Thank you for posting the video.
Beautiful. Yeah nice to see other parts of the watch family being restored. Great stuff.
That was brilliant.
Like an episode of "The Repair Shop".
Love it ❤️
Boy, you really thought outside the box on this one. Best wishes!

Wow, I just watched a box being painted and loved it, ha ha, fab job as always, thank you 🙏
I have an idea that the case exterior was "flocked" or a spray fiber application. Your restoration using paint is top notch! Glad it worked out as nicely as it has.
I do like all Omega cal. 1040/1041 watches!
Great to see also a box restoration!
Thanks for the video!
Wow!
Just WOW!

Just amazing how your understanding of that box worked for to create a stunning box again.
Joe you are a perfectionist. Love the way you never give up refining the finish until you are satisfied with the final result
Everytime I think you can't impress me anymore you puII something out the bag and drop my jaw. Anyone that has ever had one of these vintage boxes knows they fIake so badIy it's great to know a few tips and tricks to revive them.
That was a change-up! Great job. Thanks for sharing it.

Can’t wait to see that watch got excited as thought you were about to give us a peak 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
I'm, as always, amazed by your intelligence, creativity and work. The box really turned good.
Ok, this episode proves it! You’re a genius!!
Very cool ! Nothing beats skilled watchmaker hands that are used to trying things out !
Finally, one of the restorations that I can understand the mechanics of... :))
Joe, thanks for this Omega series. I am enjoying it. I was blown away by the rehab you did on the case.
Well done Joe as always!!! Loved the color and your ability to even bring back a watch box. Never thought about using packing foam as a sandpaper.
The craftsmanship is staggering Joe!!!!
Next time you need to remove old paint from fabric, give the adhesive tape trick a try! It worked like a charm early in the video when you peeled off a bit of old tape.
Fantastic, a worthy restored box for a magnificent watch
wonderfull job as usual Maestro…not enough to be watchmaker, amd also box repair…great!
Simply excellent and thoroughly enjoyable viewing - Well done you!!
Those boxes were notorious for this sort of deterioration, the same happened to mine. You could make a living restoring these boxes. (Great job)
Crazy restoration:)) amazing!
At the end of the day, a craftsman is a craftsman - and you Sir, are a craftsman.
Your superb craftsmanship is just on an entirely higher level! I can honestly say that your work has really inspired me to pay more attention and focus on my own projects. It really has made a difference in the quality of my work. Thank you!
Great to hear!
That turned out fantastic! [really didn't think it was possible to restore a box--amazing results]
I love these projects, not really what one is supposed to do in this throw away age. But just a great job. Your patience and skill holds me in awe. I await a Happy New Year of projects.

The master artisan at work again! Excellent.
Wonderful restauration, very posh. Great to see you work! thanks.

Superb work, those pesky Omega red boxes are infamous for peeling. Thanks for sharing.
An excellent restoration and a valuable insight on how to achieve it.
Nice work! I can’t imagine attempting that myself, I just wouldn’t have thought it possible - you’ve done a lovely job.
Your one very clever bloke , love your videos, including this one. Brilliant...
Lovely job Nekkid 👍👍
You did a really good job on this. It looks incredible. 👌

Excellent restoration work Trouble & Joe.
