    Thank you Walker and Make Noise for these videos! I’m probably going to watch this a half dozen more times and do nothing but play around with these patches this weekend!

    8:48 these sounds are the sounds that make this whole odyssey worthwhile for me. I don’t own a single one of these modules, and I really don’t have a clue what’s going on, but these are some fantastic sounds

    Moddemix as a ringmod is top tier

    is the crossover distortion of the moddemix a byproduct of making it close fully or is that just a part of the circuit that inspired the module?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC

      In our production meeting this morning Tony was giving the crew a thick description of all the subtleties of the modDemix and he seemed to imply that it was the former. Certainly being able to easily “close” when used as a VCA is one of the key characteristics that distinguishes it from other ring mods and is definitely related to that crossover distortion where the middle part of the wave is collapsed into zero when the modulator gets low.

    I've never known what do do with ringmod. I had a MoogerFooger and barely it used except as a tremolo. And there is a ringmod circuit on my Boomstar 5089 but this seems to add little more than distortion. In this video I prefer the ringmod sound from the Wogglebug but I'm still not sure how I'd use it in a musical context. Great for Sci Fi sounds I guess...

    Towards the end of the video the audio reminds me of the early 80s arcade games bezerk or tempest. I know nothing about arcade console architecture, Are there any similarities between a woggle bug + moddemix and whatever the heck is going on inside of arcade consoles?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  2 года назад +2

      Good question! This has to do with the bit depth limitations in real-time sound generation on early computers. You could consider these pulse waves from the Wogglebug as analogous to "1 bit" audio wave generation. Some visualization is provided in this short video: ruclips.net/video/iOXTXut00yo/видео.html
