Good on ya for making this video. It's great being able to see what gear and setup you have, helps the audience connect with your videos. Great setup!!
I'd love to see a demo on how your manage your transitions! I'm currently mixing with VirtualDJPro and I feel like I can manage a more professional setup.
Hi! I just stepped away from pioneer and realy excited about this. I got the same setup but x1mk2's & maschine instead of push and i just need to hook it all up. Although i'm a little consirned how to hook it up to Windows, this video will be of great help im sure.. :) Thanks for showing :D
I'm surprised you aren't having latency issues with traktor. When I bought the mixer, hey hadn't patched it to work seamlessly with traktor. The sound would drop often (on and off) and ended up selling the mixer. Maybe they released a patch two years ago not long after selling it. I got a djm900 and then a year or so later, got the 900 nxs2. Kinda unfortunate, because the mixer had a lot of potential.
hello friend I'm sorry I do not speak english very well but I have a question ... if you know a 42 xone could do something like this. obviously the K2 not connected by x-link , thanks greetings from colombia
so say i didnt have the xone k2's, but rather I have a midi twister and a maschine. Could i run those through the db2 with traktor and still be able to use the eq knobs on the mixer for those decks. (sample decks) thanks in advance ! also i can not seem to get loopbe1 to work.
Hey Trevor really love your setup. Did you download the DB2 driver in order for traktor to recognize the mixers soundcard? Also how did you set up your output and mix recorder settings to record through traktor? I just picked up a DB2 but I'm still using traktors Audio 8. Thanks for you help
How did you map the loop/scrubbing controls on the encoders on your k2? I have hit a wall figuring this out, and yes...I am a noob. Thanks for the video and great setup.
Hi Trevor, I'm going to get the 43c and I was wondering if I record into Ableton Live will it allow me to use delay plugins in real time with minimal delay. I have a fairly powerful computer. Any suggestions would be appreciated from an old school head transition from vinyl to digital set up.
Hey Trevor I just discovered you, I really enjoy your sets and videos!. I also had bought a dB2 but I'm not using the mixers soundcard, I still have an audio 8 hooked up. Did you have to download the mixers driver in order for Traktor to detect the DB2s soundcard? also how do you set up your input, output and mixer recorder settings in traktor to be able to record the sets. I appreciate your help. Thanks!
are you going to upload the K2 mapping anywhere? I'm pretty curious about what happens when you push "layer", because I thought you cannot have different LED colours in a same layer :)
How is DB2 working for you now.Have you thought about switching back to xone 92? because of the filters and ins/outs or are you satisfied with this set up...I am looking to have a similar setup but been told Xone 92 is better in terms of stability an sound quality and more options in terms of ins/outs.
Working amazingly, absolutely love this mixer. I think the filters are actually better on the db2 vs the 92, as the 92 had a bit of a bug when activating them on the fly- you had to time it to a 4 or 8 count to hide the slight "click" it would produce from time to time. With the 92 I had to also have a soundcard configured and a slew of RCA, so to me this setup is a huge improvement. I never used the send/returns on the 92 as I didnt have any extra efx processors or desire to run any other devices on it, so it was not a loss to me at all. The db2 has a whole internal computer system of options as well to really fine tune how you want the thing to perform. Wont be going back to the 92 anytime soon, its out on loan with some of my other DJ friends, and in no rush to get it back :)
Ducati11111 Close.. you are on the right track, but a slight difference. The Xone reads it as the 4th deck on its own, and I route the master out from the Push directly to the 4th via usb soundcard settings - both programs actually share the soundcard while running side by side.. its pretty freekin badass how it actually works out. The latest update of Traktor broke my "hack" that I performed on my systems bios to essentially make the DB2 a scratch certified mixer tho, as Ableton doesn't recognize the mixer as a soundcard anymore. I have to fix it somehow, still trying to come up with how to do that heh
Trevor Nygaard Not to get to deep into DJ nerdery here....but you could still play 4 decks out of Traktor and have PUSH running if you wanted? Reason I'm asking all this is I have almost the same gear as you except for the mixer and I desperately need a 4 channel mixer and am interested in the DB2. I also run Maschine on the side. I want to make sure the DB2 will do everything I need.
When recording the mix using the internal traktor recorder directly from the DB2 (just the way you are doing it), does it records the DB2 effects and filters as well??
Yes absolutely, it records everything you are doing without having to even use an additional RCA cable, its a quick and easy option in the mixer settings. Good question!
Trevor Nygaard thanks! I'm seriously considering changing my xone 42 for one of this. One last question. Do you edit your audio, or you use the raw recording directly on your videos/mixes? Thanks a lot again
The Cubik I take the wav from traktor and run it through the Mixed In Key platinum notes, its a very simple yet very effective mastering program that is worth its weight in gold.
I have not had a single problem with this computer and DJing. I am on 8.1 and try not to use this for anything other than DJing. I have friends who load their DJ rigs up with torrents, nasty web browsing habits, social media bla bla bla.. trick is to get a solid rig and just keep it exclusive to Djing
Caarlouuu I didnt really talk about that at all actually. I mostly use a bunch of delays (both in traktor and on the db2) reverbs and destructive audio effects like bit-crush, gater, beatmasher
Trevor Nygaard How to you keep the midi clock between traktor and ableton in sync? There's a lot of midi drift issues on PC. Can you share more details on this?
Awesome man :D But.... i know now how youtube works... So... i can't see you last video... something is "wrong"... sure..that's no problem... But i can't comment that... or on your general area for comments on youtube... they are so smart right... ? So here i my comment to RUclips tbh... Congratulations on your so called "open" web!! I can comment here...because your "AI" don't count into the fact that i might want to try to comment to something that has happend to the channel... try go further than "current" statement(read: latest video). I will still support you Trevor, but...***** you youtube for your sensorship!
Good on ya for making this video. It's great being able to see what gear and setup you have, helps the audience connect with your videos. Great setup!!
Hey trevor, fantastic video, i love home studio Xone DB2 + Xone k2 midi controls. Good music and good sessions.
Saludos desde Barcelona .
Awesome setup man, both room and rig!
Thank you for posting this vid, much appreciated!
Hey Trevor, if you just mute the audio track attached to your video, the audio spectrum display is a great way to sync everything up !
OMG FINALLY! I have been waiting to see this video since the last time you uploaded a setup video lol :D Great setup man!
Keep up the good work!
I know! Been meaning to get this done for MONTHS, glad you all were patient with me!
I'd love to see a demo on how your manage your transitions! I'm currently mixing with VirtualDJPro and I feel like I can manage a more professional setup.
This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing, dude!

great for bringing your world ! superb install ;)
Thank you! Been waiting for this one.
Thanks for the patience man!

dude can we get those Xone K2 mappings? That would be sick!
Really cool! Have been waiting for this for a long time. Hope you will be releasing your mappings for the XoneK2's too :)
Shooting for sometime in the next few weeks!
Thank you so much! See you friday!
Hey Trevor, thanks for the inside and have a great 200 3dektek. I miss your lion-cat on the vids ;-) Cheers man!!
Can you post directions on how you build your DJ Table
Awesome setup and video! So when will you be doing public tours? :)

How did you map the loop/scrubbing controls on the encoders on your k2? I have hit a wall figuring this out, and yes...I am a noob. Thanks for the video and great setup.
Why k2 and not k1? U don't need the k2's soundcard, so two k1 are enough. Or there is a specific reason why you choose k2's?
Do you have maybe a link where you got the cardboard from your Ikea bookcase ago ???? Excuse my bad Englich (google translator:-D)

A&H gear on fleek!

+Joe Hinh Have u found a solution how do u do it?
Hi, how do you connect Ableton Push to the A&H mixer 4th channel/deck?
hey nice setup, did you release the xone k2 mapping in the meantime?
are you going to upload the K2 mapping anywhere? I'm pretty curious about what happens when you push "layer", because I thought you cannot have different LED colours in a same layer :)
Do you have some latency problems with your DB2 ? And how about sound quality - db2 vs 92 ?
Thanks for the video!!!
Where Can I Download your traktor K2 file. I'd love to check it out

From where you got those Ableton sounds when you play with the push?
Whats your thoughts on the db2 soundcard vs the audio 10?
+Trevor Nygaard what's the stand for the K2s??
+Jorge Alfaro just something I made out of wood, custom Nygaard carpentry hahah
the music studio on stage
Hey man! Do you have the audio from PUSH going into Traktor and then the Xone reads that as the 4th track?

Trevor Nygaard Hi Trevor, is that because you are using the sound card of the DB2 mixer? Greetings from Argentina, Buenos Aires.
As i see you are using windows. You never had a problem with windows system?
I have not had a single problem with this computer and DJing. I am on 8.1 and try not to use this for anything other than DJing. I have friends who load their DJ rigs up with torrents, nasty web browsing habits, social media bla bla bla.. trick is to get a solid rig and just keep it exclusive to Djing
Hey trevor, what is your effects setup ? Delay, echo etc ? I didn't hear because i'm french :p
Caarlouuu I didnt really talk about that at all actually. I mostly use a bunch of delays (both in traktor and on the db2) reverbs and destructive audio effects like bit-crush, gater, beatmasher
+Trevor Nygaard How did u set up the db2 with tractor so that u can use the internal sound card of the db2?
excelent :D
the name for the midi software?
The midi link between traktor and ableton (pc) is called LoopBe1 - I added a link in the description that will take you directly there :)
Trevor Nygaard
