  • This review has been a long time coming. Sorry for the wait!
Today we are looking at Supervision rock + Mica layered watercolors: amzn.to/3UxsekO (affiliate link) There are several sets of 10 tubes available and I have the Mermaid coast set. These were sent to me for review.
    Pros:
    Pretty colors
    Interesting, yet unpredictable effects
    Cons:
The mica often takes over the paint so the color splitting or layering effect is not well pronounced.
    Price
Only available in sets. You can't try one tube to see if you like it or replace one tube if it is used up.
Bottom line: I found these paints to be a bit underwhelming which is a shame because I like Supervision paints in general. I think these are best used in large wet washes to get the color-separating effect. Honestly tho, I think I would just add some mica to a staining and granulating color mix you have already. I think these fall short. Maybe some of the other sets are more interesting?
