Considering the cost of their products Peavey are the best! Cost aside, they could still be considered the best. Very interesting, in depth discussion. Thanks for taking the time TK and Hartley! Rock on, and best wishes!
Fantastic interview. Grew up with Peavey and they have always, always had quality gear at a fair price. And thank god for their saturation years ago as there were only 5 dist. pedals to choose from ;)
Enjoy your interview,Hartley has made some great products throughout the years, still have my early 80s bass gear, that stuff is indestructible, really wish they would open a U.S. shop again.Sad all our U.S. companies go overseas for cheaper labor & to make more profit ,but blame ourselves because people dont want to pay good money for a CRAFTED IN U.S.A. product like the old days. PEAVEY ROCKS!!
I love Peavey stuff. No one ever has introduced a guitar built just as high end as any $3000. guitar. It is the "T" series of solid body guitars. The hardware, electronics and build quality are enormous. He sold them for the 3-400 dollar range when Fender was at 1500, and Gibson was nearly $2000.00. Facing an undisputable fact: costs here are impossible to bear and continue to operate a business. I'm certain it has been a terrible thing for this guy bear. That's why the changes..... Thanks!
I love how when Hartley was on about "We don't make reissues" TTK said "You did a relaunch of a guitar line" *cough* wolfgang *cough* and Hartley just about locks up. Like it or not the US made 70s and 80s amps and guitars were far superior in tone and build than the new Peaveys. ESPECIALLY the guitars. As a T60,T15, and Horizon owner as well as a boat load of old tube,SS, and hybrid era Peavey amps, I know very well
The Wolfgang "re-launch", as I understand it, was the result of parts left over after EVH left Peavey. Those bodies and necks were made and sitting around in a warehouse for years. It makes sense to have brought it back.
Hey TTK... Good to see you at Peavey... Love their Amps and Love their Guitars. I've had a boat load of their USA Made guitars from the 80's.. Some fantastic models... just amazing.. I had a Peavey Generation? special Telecaster that was not USA made but what an amazing guitar. Anyway Mr. Peavey good to see you out there still rockin it. You're right... anyone at it for that long deserves accolades. Thanks sir.
This was a very good interview, he made a lot of interesting points. My first amp in the late 80's was a Peavey, not sure the model but it sounded great. I agree with him, the reissues are getting out of hand.
I agree and disagree with Hartley. I own a small sound company. It used to be a much bigger company, that I was an employee at. When the owner retired, he sold off much of the assets, but left enough to give to me. He also gave the name, and l kept the company going. The company has roots going back to the 70s. As a sound company, we were unique in that we made our own sound systems, racks, and road cases. We designed and built every inch of it ourselves. I still use that gear successfully to this day. I use JBL drivers, and Radian compression drivers. So its important to me that I am able to continue to buy the same parts, when I need replacements, years later. Those two companies tend to take care of me in that regard. For fun, I keep some old gear around, and have a couple of really nice vintage PA systems. I use several old Peavey mixers, Mark IIs, Mark IIIs, MDs, and other outboard gear. I approach these little PAs just like I'm restoring an old Mustang. I like taking them out, and reminding people that some of that old stuff still sounds really good. I've got an old SoundTech PA that I use my Peavey consoles to mix on, and I get really good mixes going, most of the time. And while I keep up with technology, I also like to keep a hand in the past as well. There are many benefits to the way older gear worked, that newer gear doesn't offer. If Peavey made a period correct reissue of a Mark III or IV mixing console, I would most certainly buy one. And I think a wave of interest, could be ramped...in the same way music lovers have returned to vinyl. I have a Mark III 16 channel that still works like it just rolled out of the factory. I have done countless shows with that thing, over the years, often in hot, humid, smokey, dusty, rainy, beer drenched conditions. And every bit 9f that console still functions 100% correctly. I'm nearly 52 years old...and I will put my money on that console working flawlessly, up until the day I quit mixing. I think younger people would appreciate a vintage sound system package from Peavey. There have been a wide variety of Peavey PA speakers that have sounded great, through numerous eras of design. Make a couple 70s and 80s period correct PA packages, that can scale up or down in size...and I imagine it would be a hit. I've been doing sound since 1989... I'm not all that impressed by certain new technologies. I buy it, because the market demands that I do. And it it does have its place. But let me have a little fun also.
I can relate. When I was 15 I had posters of the Buick Grand National all over. When I had the funds I bought a 87 Grand National in 2003 and OMG, it was fast but it was mid-80's General Motors vehicle. The drivetrain was fantastic but everything else was complete trash and after 1 years of fixing droop headliner, bouncy needle speedo, windows that took 2 minutes to go up / down, door locks that would blow out your ear drums, horrible brake booster, it was horrid.
Well he gave his input in a lot of production because they ask him to try out lotsa of and worked on prototypes to try out in the fields as he played them and told the RD department of what was good and what needed to be improved the same can be said about the Kramer guitars 🤔🤔🤔🤔🧐🧐🧐🧐🤓
Yeah I haven't seen it but knowing the story it really left a Bad taste in my mouth. I was a peavey man for years I've installed many Peavey PA system's as well as using PV Amp's & PA gear for my own band. I'll never buy another "New" PV piece of gear again ever. I don't think i'm the only die heart PV endorser that feels this way because of that eye opening show. I appreciate TK doing the interview's w/him. Mr Beringer has ururpt PV in the market he hates Uli Beringer. The last few times I've called PV the workers sounded very very discouraged & didn't seem happy like they use to be when I had to call.
I saw it...he screwed that employee big time. I won't buy new Peavey equipment. It isn't as good as the old stuff. I have a Special 150, an M2600, a CS800, and 2 SP2 cabinets.....really good equipment but a long time ago.
Just like the recent Carrier fiasco that collapsed in Indiana, this guy screwed over his American workers by sending production to China in order to make more profit so he can sustain his lifestyle at the expense of the labor of the former Peavey employees. Nothing against Chinese people in general, but don't tell me regulation forced him to go overseas. That's BS. He could be less greedy and keep the jobs here. Less regulation never has guaranteed more jobs and business success here. IMO, if Peavey ran as a worker-coop, that would change the game and make people see the possibilities to have a livable income all together and sustain their local communities *shurgs ruclips.net/video/dTSBy_kMtls/видео.html
I've discussed the Undercover Boss episode with people who are local and know a lot of the employees and apparently they didn't get screwed as bad as the show made it out to be. I personally don't know if I buy it, that episode turned me off on Peavey.
Anymore Peavey is the company you wanna like but can’t help but sort of dislike lol. I’ve had plenty of Peavey amps in the past and they were reliable and sounded great. I don’t play Peavey anymore but I always like to take a peak to see how their rolling. But,,,,, after watching Undercover Boss I have such a bad taste in my mouth for Peavey but what company that is US based hasn’t done what Peavey did? Hartley Peavey does look healthier here compared to years back. But Hartley does seem a little annoyed and disheartened with rival brands in sort of a not so good way. Almost like he’s desperately trying to convince you to buy the Peavey product in a dire need.
TTK!!! Please ask Peavey to release a solid state 6505! A good high quality solid state version, similar to the Orange Crush Pro series! No effects, maybe a digital reverb with a standard amp switch jack so we can use switching multi effect units!!! Please!!!
no disrespect but the man tells the same storys and talks about the same stuff every year when TTK interviews him and throwing employees under the bus is never good,i cant see a bright future for peavey in this market .
Although I do agree with and appreciate the peavey premise of not building multiple different quality versions of say the same guitar I would politely disagree with the premise that the new is always better than the old and he’s being slightly disingenuous as peavey has made several Marshall clones aka vtm, Windsor, valveking. Aren’t these arguably reissued versions of someone else’s amp?
We have to blame ourselves for the downfall of American quality products,we live in a disposable world,as Americans want the best product for the cheapest price, days of old you didnt mind saving for a product & paying good $$$,because it would last.No we shop at Walmart & buy Chinese crap, and complain when it breaks, was nice when EVERYONE was proud to see MADE IN THE USA,now it doesn't matter
Considering the cost of their products Peavey are the best! Cost aside, they could still be considered the best. Very interesting, in depth discussion. Thanks for taking the time TK and Hartley! Rock on, and best wishes!
I look forward to your yearly Peavey interview. Thanks TK!
I look forward to this interview every time you go to NAMM. I appreciate all you do TK!
oh, btw we're CLOSING our US factory.
Peavey has always been my go to brand, they always have the biggest bang for buck.
Fantastic interview. Grew up with Peavey and they have always, always had quality gear at a fair price. And thank god for their saturation years ago as there were only 5 dist. pedals to choose from ;)
Ya just can’t beat the good ole Black Widows, Scorpions &. Saturation knobs. 👍🏻
Look forward to Hartley Peavey every year!

I'm really glad to see Hartley back in the drivers seat! I hope he sticks around and gets the company out in front again!
I always enjoy Peavey interviews. Great products and a great man behind them. Thanks.
One of your best interviews!
The T-60 is one of the finest guitars ever made. Under rated and overlooked. Simply a fantastic instrument.
Hartley Peavey is always my favorite interview. Thanks TK!

An intelligent interview with an intelligent man, thanks :-)
Hartley Peavey is a great man

Horizon II is one that I still have... I've also got a Impact 1...

Nice interview, thanks!!!
TK Dude, I just sold my Peavey Bandit 65 It still rocks.

Love all my peavey stuff.
Hartley Peavey, my hero.

Louise, another great interview. Great job!!!
I ben pllaying peavey amps since 15 .Best amps in the world
Great interview
Sometimes you get it right the first time and you can't improve it !(Strat/Tele/LP,etc.) ;-) Right TK ?
I love the Peavey Bandit 112, but why don't you put in a headset jack? If I buy one now, can the headset jack be added?
Didn't PV reverse-engineer the Splano SLO 100 to make the 5150 original?
Great job, TTK!
On a weirder note, I really like Hartley's Peavey shirt for some reason.
Oh yeah, I wait for this :)
Since when is there a COPY Peavey? Let me know please.
for having been born in the 1940s, hartley sure looks young... he's something like 75 years along...
If you take away the dye in his hair, he looks his age or older.
dude would be a great politician
Peavey the best .

Everyone needs to watch the undercover boss episode with peavey it’s pretty discouraging

Chris Arias yep, totally screwed over his employees. I’ll never buy anything from this guy!
I saw it...he screwed that employee big time. I won't buy new Peavey equipment. It isn't as good as the old stuff. I have a Special 150, an M2600, a CS800, and 2 SP2 cabinets.....really good equipment but a long time ago.

solid state is for hi-fi at home. It sucks for guitar.

Undercover Boss
No Covid just vibes
Wish Peavey would "Re-issue" the Vandenberg guitars. LOL
Hey ask him how his Chinese employees are doing.
At $6 a day, only slightly better than his Meridian, MS former family.
peavey you lost it somewheres...i played peavey basses for 30yrs...now i play a $150 jackson bass that feels plays and sounds better than my cirrus
rock on super Lou !
great interview TTK and Mr. Peavey is a legend!!! great person and Label in Music business
no disrespect but the man tells the same storys and talks about the same stuff every year when TTK interviews him and throwing employees under the bus is never good,i cant see a bright future for peavey in this market .
Are interviewers supposed to ask questions not just agree with everything mr peavy says ..
he might as well work for cable news where they equalize contrasting viewpoints even when one is objectively in the right SMH
Although I do agree with and appreciate the peavey premise of not building multiple different quality versions of say the same guitar I would politely disagree with the premise that the new is always better than the old and he’s being slightly disingenuous as peavey has made several Marshall clones aka vtm, Windsor, valveking. most guys in this buisness get along and share. This dude didn't' get the message
Embarrassing to listen to. Peavey makes absolute nothing on the leading edge of music tech or design.
Great Interview
Great interview
