Her serve has fire to it. I noticed that on the return various times during this match, she put too much kick on it, which resulted in the ball going long. What I didn't know and discovered is that she keeps her box empty. That was a first for me to see, but I can see she wants to keep her own focus and pep talk herself back in the match vice versus having to look over at the box to get that motivation. Seems like it worked.

Not to jump in the immediate comparison with Serena, but Serena's maiden title came at a French event early in the year against a French opponent. She went on to win the US Open that year.

I was thinking this girl reminds me of Serena the first time I saw her. Her movement, body, the way she wags her index finger. Oh dear.

Great tennis! Hoping we get more tennis like this. All court, no screaming, volleys, approaches, what's not to love. Almost like a rewind button to early noughties WTA! Parks has it all...hoping to see a lot more of her winning ways.

Parks is the real deal. Her game has improved so much. She has beaten a lot of high-quality opponents. She just has to continue to work hard, and the results will come. Once she gets her ranking up, she will not have to qualify for the majors. Going through the qualifying is very hard. I think they have to win three matches to get into the main draw, and you have former champions and a lot of hungry players trying to make it out of the qualifying rounds.
