You won't upset anyone by saying that Dimash can go from masculine to feminine with his voice because it's the truth and it is one of his great talents. He said once that when he was a kid the teachers often put him in the girls choir to make up the numbers because he could sing like one of them. He never lost the ability when his voice changed. In men it's called counter-tenor (although many vocal coaches day it's so perfectly feminine they'd rather call it soprano, the word for a woman's voice). His mother is an operatic soprano, his father is a tenor (pop, traditional and contemporary). His parents sang as a duo in Kazakhstan and are well loved. Dimash got criticised for singing high (competition judges etc) and his teacher tried to stop him doing it, but Dimash just carried on practicing in secret. Now his teachers work on it with him and help him expand his knowledge and vocal techniques. There is a little clip of him being taught how to do a 'messe di voce' (pronounced messay dee votchay -it's Italian) and his teacher is so pleased and claps his hands together when he gets it right. To hear it in practise, watch him sing Ave Maria at New Wave. He finishes the song by doing a perfect 'messe di voce'. It is astoundingly beautiful. It's like you are floating in Heaven with the angels. I hold my breath every single time. I have to admit (a bit guiltily) that if a reactor pauses in the middle of that ending or talks over it I stop watching them immediately. Can't help it. When someone is giving everything they have as a gift to us all they deserve respect. Great reaction. Shame it wasn't the one from Igor Krutoy's channel (the Olympico version with the ring of lights thumbnail). It's even more magnificent than the one you saw. Such a regal king like stage presence. You think you are being prepared for war. And then there's the male female switch as if the queen has suddenly stepped in. Man, he really is the best. This is Italian. He only speaks 3 languages, Kazakh, Russian & English & has been learning Chinese, but he has sung in 14+ languages. This song was written for him to sing at the opening ceremony of the European Games in Minsk, 2021 (I think), hence the motivational lyrics. LOL, well I guess a lot of my experience with the German language is from movies, so I guess I had a bad concept of how it actually sounds. Dimash put on a Digital online concert for his Dears called Digital Show during the pandemic, which is the version you're reacting to. He sings in Italian. According to what I've read, this song was written specifically for Dimash's vocal range, a collaboration between Igor Krutoy, a composer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash after his I am Singer 2017 competition in China that catapulted him onto the international stage, and lyricist Lilia Vinogradova. It was written for the European games in 2019 and also won "Song of the Year" in Russia. If you pay attention to the beginning of the video, he is watching his Olimpico version from his Arnau concert on the TV in the background. This was the first performance of the Digital Concert in 2021. Mostly live but no physical audience so Dimash added in a few effects in some songs to try and duplicate a "real Concert feel". Dimash had to cancel his regular Concert tour because of the pandemic☹️ The language is Italian. I was using this song in my exercise routine but after a knee injury in the Spring have been not exercising. Plan to get gently back into it soon.😏 My first time listening to Dimash performing SOS, I was having trouble breathing. 😂😂 Sure would have been impossible to read the lyrics at the same time. 😅 The open faced Cello instrument is called a Kobys. From Kazakhstan and one of the oldest string instruments on the planet. Was considered a sacred instrument in Kazakhstan at one time. If you are going to sneak a Dimash video without reacting, may I suggest the "GOLDEN" official music video. Dimash put on a Digital online concert for his Dears called Digital Show during the pandemic, which is the version you're reacting to. He sings in Italian. According to what I've read, this song was written specifically for Dimash's vocal range, a collaboration between Igor Krutoy, a composer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash after his I am Singer 2017 competition in China that catapulted him onto the international stage, and lyricist Lilia Vinogradova. It was written for the European games in 2019 and also won "Song of the Year" in Russia. If you pay attention to the beginning of the video, he is watching his Olimpico version from his Arnau concert on the TV in the background. This was the first performance of the Digital Concert in 2021. Mostly live but no physical audience so Dimash added in a few effects in some songs to try and duplicate a "real Concert feel".
Dimash had to cancel his regular Concert tour because of the pandemic☹️
