This event was the topic of my choice for my first major research paper for a writing class in college intended for History majors. There were a variety of factors involved in why this fire happened - some not outrightly apparent, and some blatantly known. This fire was the final nail in the coffin regarding unsafe work environments. People in government finally listened to the women protestors who were fighting for years for unions and a safe workplace. Unfortunately, as most significant events, it took people dying for them to be heard. PBS: I wish you would make the entire documentary available for others to view without having to pay! While there are abundant amounts of primary sources on this event, the documentary is well-produced and most like the storytelling aspect.
I watched this program in its entirety. Do you know if I missed this part? I didn't see reference to the foremen being on the two floors the day of the fire and, of course, having keys which could open the door to the stairwell.
The entire program is only available for $$ from commercial outfits. BAH! Why can't PBS put it back into the stream? We don't intend to download; just view.
first of all the owners should have been burned alive or forced to jump with their workers. I think allowing them to climb from the roof was a wasted opportunity to get Unions and stuff in. and no I don't care about 2 rickety old men who think they're supior. and in the HBO one Blanck's granddaughter speaks out and is all sad that they almost didn't make it... girl that would have been the icing on the cake in getting women's rights.
edit: it’s an original film score by Joel Goodman who is behind many scores for American Experience. Unfortunately I can’t find the audio anywhere, unlike the other documentaries he made background music for. What a shame. Been looking all over for the title of it!
Read David VonDrehle's excellent book, "Triangle, The Fire that Changed the World". The book outlines the labor conditions of that era as well as the fire and its aftermath. 3/25/1911 - 3/25/2023 Never forgotten. 🔺️ ✌️ ☮️
Are you a joker ? Communist governments have systematically killed tens of millions of people while capitalism has allowed millions to obtain freedom and a higher standard of living . Get a clue
The unidentified workers were later identified as:

*Concetta Prestifilippo,* 18 or 22
*Josephine Cammarata,* 18
*Dora Evans,* 18
*Fannie Rosen,* 21

would be nice to see the entire program, even if there had to be breaks included.
judacia, you are in luck! TRIANGLE FIRE is now streaming free on our website and on the PBS app: to.pbs.org/2MAcz1n
But it's not available for Canadians. :(

This was also before Unions, laboring for laws to protect workers.

How can anyone defend capitalism after a disaster like this?
are you serious? I cant tell if your serious. If you are, you are the dumbest person I've ever seen.
Yeah, because communism and other economic forms are like well-oiled machines. No problems whatsoever.
