    I loved this video, it makes me want to raise baby hamsters lol. They all look so healthy and adorable.
    I have a few questions, after the male and female hamsters have bred, do you still keep them together or do you separate them? Also, would these hamsters eventually end up fighting with one another? I had two winter whites purchased in the same location, but after two weeks, they were fighting a lot and I had to separate them.

    • @royal_rose8425
      @royal_rose8425 4 года назад +8

      U have to seperate the male from the female for a few months before u think about breeding again if u keep them together he can either kill the babies or over breed with the female which can kill her i have robos they just gave birth with robos u can keep them as a colony but to be on the safer side seperate the male and females but they dont fight but they have to be born together for them to be able to stay together if they arent born together and lets say u put either two females together or two males together they will fight and kill each other bc they wont know who each other are make sure they are siblings so u can house them together if u have any other questions u can ask

    I bred hamsters once, a brown banded male with a albino female, she had a litter of 6 (4 male, 2 female) and they were all healthy and survived, one thing I noticed about them was about into their 3rd week they would go into the tube attached to the cage and just stay in there altogether XD Was worried one of them in the middle might get thirsty and not get out for a drink

    • @freespirithamsters5014
      @freespirithamsters5014  3 года назад +2

      With dwarf hamsters you can actually handle them at any age without too much of a threat but I'd personally suggest waiting until they have fur and are crawling around already. Remember the smaller the litter, the quicker they'll grow. These took a month because there were so many. If you only had 3 or 4 it could be half as long until they're roaming their cage and safe to touch/handle!

    orange is not good for hamsters i read that in a lot of hamsters care articls and youtubers

      Candy isn't good for you either. Yes oranges should not be a big part of any hamsters diet however as a small treat it's perfectly ok. All the hamsters in the video are actually still alive and doing well!

    You should always separate the mother and father hamsters before horde of babies (Group of babies) is born. I learned the hard way when my hamsters had babies, the father had injured one of the babies so I separated the mother and horde. I introduced the babies again when they were 8 weeks

      Coparenting is actually important for Campbells hamsters and improves outcome for the babies

    HOW THE HELL DID YOUR HAMSTER NOT EAT HER BABIES I USED TO HAVE A HAMSTER AND ALL SHE DID WHEN SHE HAD BABIES WAS alright i love my babies 2 days later okay time to eat them

      Different breeds react differently. I'd advice that you be careful with most. Campbell hamsters are much more tolerant of people.

    • @freespirithamsters5014
      @freespirithamsters5014  4 года назад

      They shouldn't fight once the babies are a month old and on their own. You can gently put them together and if they fight then separate immediately

      If the mom gets too stressed she can eat them as a protection mechanism. Sorry to hear it!

    Here’s a tip! Don’t keep the mom or dad in the cage with the babies cause the mom or dad will eat the babies not trying to be rude just trying to help!

    • @freespirithamsters5014
      @freespirithamsters5014  3 года назад

      With dwarf hamsters they obviously need mom while they're nursing. Dad can be removed (not 100% necessary but a good precaution nevertheless). Anything you can do to minimalize stress on the mom is a good thing, though dwarf hamsters are far less likely to kill their own babies compared to other species.

      Moved out while the babies are growing to keep the mom hamster from having too much stress
