This song saved me on more than one occasion. Whenever i feel im in the pit, i listen to this, i cry a little, take deep breath and gain power to keep walking in this wretched place.
HAHAHAHA! I used to listen to this song on high school and rock their t-shirt with friends, Woods of Desolation, Nocturnal Depression, Lustre, Thy Light, Happy Days, Sadness, Agalloch, etc and I could go on forever. are one of those bands that could fill the void.
in my times of anxiety, depression, worry, and sorrow, woods of desolation always manages to be right by my side every time. thank you for inspiring me and my career, even if i wont get anywhere to make a big enough impact, i still have joy making music that this band inspired.
"I drown in the sadness of your eyes Behind them the knowing My every touch turns to ash My every word fades to silence No savior in the beat of your heart From this curse that drags me down Suffocating veil of misery The foreshadow of my demise The warmth of a thousand suns, drawn away And fade before my eyes The Inevitable End, I always knew would be The truth you could always see Once again cast unto the dark To the coldest night, and misery's dawn But with it, I shall depart And feel your warmth once more..." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love listening to black metal songs, and songs from genres like grindcore, goregrind, etc. And try to make out the lyrics. This song has the most beautiful and amazing lyrics I have heard in a while.
ive been listening to this band / album for years and only managed to pick up a few words , i am amazed . thankyou !!! do you have any lyrics of 'as the stars album' ? ? i would be eternally grateful
The beauty of the riffs... The way that the lyrics go deep into your head, towards the voice... You feel the pain, you feel the melody... That's DSBM for me, and Woods of Desolation is the best part of it.
Alice Eliot Yes, Alice. Lyrics: I drown in the sadness of your eyes Behind them the knowing My every touch turns to ash My every word fades to silence No saviour in the beat of your heart From this curse that drags me down Suffocating veil of misery The foreshadow of my demise The warmth of a thousand suns, drawn away And fade before my eyes The Inevitable End, I always knew would be The truth you could always see Once again cast unto the dark To the coldest night, and misery's dawn But with it, I shall depart And feel your warmth once more...
Ghost bath brought me here. Fuuck I need this. The best thing about black metal is there's so fucking much of it, I've hardly scratched the surface. I love it when every once in a while I see a masterpiece with only a couple hundred views, and come back to it later and there's hundreds of thousands. Happy days has really gotten big too.
+Alx Dayken D of Woods of Desolation inspired Ghost Bath I think, I heard WOD a long time before Ghost Bath. Lover this band, you might want to listen to God Is An Astronaut, post rock but very similar.
You know that song that is attached to the most special person you ever met? This is one of them... Her gracious beauty comes to my mind everytime i play this beautiful masterpiece...
I always worry about listening to this song. I worry that it won't be as perfect or as beautiful as the last time. It always is. Thank you. Just, thank you. So much.
I just don't know how, but this kind of music touchs the soul... if you have a old spirit you will remember some old times... remember me in my old travels trought old forests and trought old and great palaces, great, old and desolate palaces ov my mind and soul... Just thanks and hails to all brothers that can't understand this kind of music... see you in eternity! And thanks to "D" to put all of us in the same connection...
I think this music is not ment for everybody to understand. There is something to it, that is indescribable. This sounds goes deeper than emotions, and reaches further than any spoken language ever could.
You are actually quite close to one POSSIBLE "answer". You have to get to a point were you dissolve in the music, a point past "vocals and music" where it all starts to blend into one big picture. Vocals dont matter that much all there is is a deep feeling that allows you to connect with a deeper beauty that lies in the existence itself, a clear image of all that is , all that was, all that will ever be. A song like this is just a door into that world and the voice just a part of that door.
***** uh...why the fuck losers like you listen to blackmetal, fucking idiot? do you know burzum, darkthrone, emperor, nargaroth, marduk, bilskirnir, judas iscariot, grand belial's key an many other old band like these? they are like me,stupid racists, and withouth them you could not even listen to woods of desolation, fucking chadpand poseur.shitty people like you make blackmetal lose its credibility.
It feels like my soul won something unique and freeing. I think the most beautiful people enjoy this as we escape within what feels a surreal dream! Epic!
..She created the Stars..made this desolate world a Better place..gave me a reason to Live.. made me who i am today yet made me want to be someone else..i am so lost without her..where'd she go? I must have been dreamin..I think i finally reached my End.
Been by now some years since the first time i heard this song. But it still gives me the same incredible vibes as the first time, when that almost-middle part with that guitar infinitely repeated note begins it becomes impossible not to let myself wander through memories and thoughts and questions and broken dreams, with that veil of melancholy we all here know very well. I miss you Woods, i really do
fantastica atmosfera, melodia ipnotica e coinvolgente.
This is honestly peak metal for me: absolutely beautiful melodies/riffs, great musicianship, and intensely heartfelt, extreme vocals. Awesome all around.
This is such a wicked track and record. Fans of Woods of Desolation and Atmospheric / Depressive Black Metal in general should check out "Disquiet" by Unreqvited!
Was listening to the black metal music station on rock radio when this song came up. I immediately got obssesed with it, with recently found lyrics it was like listening to my emotions and mind itself.
I'm the only one at my school, bus, town that enjoys this kinda music... yes people can listen with me in the bus bcs I play it as loud as I can and I don't care this music needs to be set on the highest volume!! I really love this music!! greets from Belgium!
+Innerdarkness I love black metal, but I absolutely despise assholes that play their music in public. Nobody wants to listen to your crap, keep it to yourself.
Marek Dzurenko you see it too big.., I only use earphones so the music is not that loud. it was just an expression to say that I listen on the highest volume.
Marek Dzurenko Come on, it's common sense no Black Metal listener would ever play it loud in oublic without earphones. Fuck that. We are not disabled like those reggaeton assholes.
That was the best description of the genre I have ever read, and I had to share that on Facebook. Just to let you know, I did give you credit by posting the name along with it.
When I hear this wonderful song, I always imagine a old man walking in a snowstorm... In this snowstorm, he remember your life, every single moment of your life...After this, he died in the snow. Is a sad and beauty song.

I actually thought something similar not long ago. How cool it would be if deathcore/blackgaze/djent bands like this stay together long enough and they play this kind of stuff live at 100 years old :D Would help keep you "young" mentally & physically for sure.
interesting point , i never thought about the screams in this way . For me the screaming is an expression of suffering pain ( either physical or mental) , or to redeem accumulated aggressions .
This is what I love about black metal. You can simply close your eyes and drown in sound...

If you can make impact on your own life it is more than enough. It's worth more than 100.000 streams. Music is therapy. It's beautiful.
The one who created these riffs is a genius..
They speak to me, in a very special way I cannot explain.
Song is great but life still sucks :(
just the way i feel

Your mind is free
@David Gibson It takes so much to reflect, and harder to act upon it. That's good
"I drown in the sadness of your eyes
Behind them the knowing
My every touch turns to ash
My every word fades to silence
No savior in the beat of your heart
From this curse that drags me down
Suffocating veil of misery
The foreshadow of my demise
The warmth of a thousand suns, drawn away
And fade before my eyes
The Inevitable End, I always knew would be
The truth you could always see
Once again cast unto the dark
To the coldest night, and misery's dawn
But with it, I shall depart
And feel your warmth once more..."

I wish bands had their vocalists aim for that rather than being an edgy Kvlt guy.

This is so sadly romantic.
Love is destructive. What more is there to say
True love is not destructive..
esmeralda paredes I'm not talking about romantic love. I'm talking true love of the self, or our own heart.
That sounds more like vanity or pride than true love, and is still being destructive.
There's little difference between destruction and construction, when you look at it.
