Peaks in season two. S3 has a few episodes that support the rest. A couple of storylines seemed added with little thought. Others needed time to grow, as in more seasons and we know that isn't gonna happen anytime son.
It's cool that you're asking about Ted's ability to do the tactical side of the game - because he basically never does. He's a "man-manager", great at getting the best out of people. He counts on his assistants for the tactics. This isn't ignored - it's a plot point. And yes, that's Crystal Palace's stadium.
A subtle point many don't notice is Ted hanging the John Wooden Pyramid of success in the office. Wooden was a legendary and highly successful college basketball coach at UCLA. He has many coaches at all levels of all sports that follow his philosophy. If you look the pyramids first two base levels only reference team and individual character. And never addresses sport specific strategies.
No, your first instinct was absolutely right, the fictional Nelson Road in real life is the home ground of Palace, that is where all stadium shots (except for very few Away matches) were filmed.
As a lifelong footy fan, it took me a couple episodes to get into this show, but it quickly became one of my all-time favorites. It's less about football, more about mental health, love, and friendship. But... the backdrop of English football makes for a great setting, and I think you will really enjoy getting to know all of the characters, many of whom are at least loosely based on real life personalities from the world of football you know so well. If you do the series, I'll definitely watch every reaction. Oh, and your eyes were not playing tricks on you, they used CP's Selhurst Park as AFC Richmonds home stadium.
As an American who avidly follows and loves the Premier League, I know you’ll love this. Yes, the show does use many shots of Selhurst Park for Richmond’s stadium since they have a similar red/blue scheme. I’m sure part of that deal was to mention Crystal Palace as their first opponent 😂. And yes, American football is mostly Americans. The biggest pool they recruit from BY FAR is American high school and college. So foreign players do certainly exist but are very rare, and often have a background in rugby.
And there's a line in the second episode that's a funny nod to the fact that they're using Crystal Palace's stadium ("Let's go out there and show Crystal Palace whose house this is").
American football is mostly American - not that many foreigh players since the game is only played in the US. However, there have been a number of African players coming to the US and playing in college that eventually make it to the NFL. Recently, the Kansas City Chiefs brought in a Welsh rugby player who may make the roster but that is uncertain. In the story, Ted is from Kansas - a state in the middle of the US, and coached a college team called Wichita State (a college which actually doesn't have a football team in reality).
There are a solid number of players coming up the ranks through Germany. I'm assuming that's in part because there are a lot of US military brats over there so it's easier to cultivate an American football culture. Australia has sent several Australian Rules Football and rugby players over as well, mostly as punters.
@@JeffKelly03 Also, NFL Europe was very popular in Germany which I am sure has led to an increase in interest. It will be interesting to see if more German players work their way into the NFL.
@@stpnwlf9 I also forgot maybe the most famous foreign-born player in NFL history is Hines Ward, who was born in Seoul (his mom is Korean, his dad was in the US military).
There will be at least 1 international player in every team's practice squad so at least 32 players this season. I think there are 19 current NFL players from other countries as of this year. like Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jordan Mailata (Australia) and Las Vegas Raiders fullback Jakob Johnson (Germany).

Glad to have you enjoying such a great production. More American media should be like this.

In America football we have Head coach Offensive and defensive coordinators, and special teams coordinator Offensive and defensive position coaches Assistants to position coaches, special teams assistants, and quality control assistants
In the States, in American football, our coaches are called coaches, not managers. In the NFL there is a manager, the general manager and he runs the front office and usually coordinates player acquisition and such. As far as levels of football in the United States, our highest level is the NFL and it is a closed league without the possibility of relegation or promotion. The NFL has 32 teams. The next level of football is college football. There are hundreds and hundreds of colleges that participate and it is an open league overseen by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The NCAA schools are divided into three divisions with Division I (D1) being the highest and D2 and D3 below it. But before you are old enough to play college football, there is high school football and there are thousands and thousands of school who field high school football teams with players between the ages of 14 and 18. Before high school there is either middle school football, a mixture of tackle like the big kids play or flag football. Finally, the youngest players can play tackle football in a league similar to Little League baseball called Pop Warner League in which players as young as 5 years old and as old as 16 can participate in age group delineated leagues. Americans love American tackle football and many Americans love college football more than the NFL. In fact there are 8 Universities that have college football stadiums that seat more than 100,000 fans and they sell those stadiums out every Saturday! Ted was a head coach of a fictitious, Division II college football team. Beard was his assistant coach.
This show came out and I started it as just to have something on the TV to fall asleep to. The next morning I had binged the entire first season and joyfully went to work with no sleep. Also though, this show (hopefully) makes you stop and think about what kind of teammate, manager, support staff, (whatever role fits) you want to be and then opens the door to better in your own life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

It’s not often we get NFL players from other countries unless that athlete went through our school/university system. Most players are scouted during university years. But in other US professional sports (baseball, basketball, etc) there are international players.
I love seeing this from a football fan’s perspective because I’m an American who doesn’t watch football, so it’s interesting to see what different things you pick up on that I didn’t, and I would love to see more of your reactions Also it is Crystal Palace’s stadium, which is interesting because Crystal Palace exists in the show universe too haha
Jason Sudeikes (Ted Lasso) bases his character off of like a traditional midwestern dude. Accent and all - though it’s only that heavy out in the country. He’s originally from Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. So he brings in a lot of the heartland culture to his character. Throughout the series you’ll see references back to KC’s pride and joy: BBQ. Lots of his stuff has references to some of the most popular bbq places around here like Arthur Bryants, Jack Stack, Oklahoma Joe’s, Q39, and so on. And he and Beard both wear KC gear all the time, a lot like the locals do. You’ll probably know KC best from Travis Kelce, one of our players with the Chiefs, who is dating Taylor Swift. Their characters are technically from Wichita, Kansas, which is about 3 hours (200-ish miles) from Kansas City. And Ted coached college football (which is also huge here in the US). Also, just to note since our city is unfairly named-Kansas City is situated on the state lines of Kansas and Missouri, which means that there’s a Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) and a Kansas City, Kansas (KCK). Most of the important landmarks and well-known bbq restaurants in the city are actually located on the Missouri side. While the suburbs of Kansas City are awesome in Kansas and have a good chunk of our population. It’s confusing but an important distinction if you live in the area lol since the best parts of the city are in Missouri. This show is amazing! It’s definitely a good one to go into blind since it’s a lot different than what you would expect. It’s heartwarming and surprising. I don’t think I’ve laughed as much in a show more than this one. I also don’t think there’s really one bad episode. And most of our football teams are made up of people from all around the US. Baseball, though, we do get international players.
About the tactics...this show isnt heavy on them, to be fair, but, it doesnt ignore them or make a mockery. That said, they do treat them with a bit of tongue in cheek at times. The general idea is that Ted is great with motivation and interpersonal connection, while Coach Beard is the tactician. And together they make a competent manager I like your style dude. If you keep watching, I'll keep watching.
AFC Richmond in the show is basically Wimbledon right down to the stadium being the Dogtrack and the mascot being the Greyhounds (both taken from the history of the stadium).
You're the first person I've seen react who was genuinely skeptical all the way through as to why Ted Lasso was hired which I thought was cool. Please keep watching!
My favorite part of watching EPL fans, especially those in the UK, shift from thinking this is a show about football and instead realize it's a show about people involved in football. Great reaction!
7 years ago when ABC was showing the UEFA Champions League, there were a couple of commercials featuring Ted Lasso just for fun. Few years after that those commercials inspired the show.
Watching Ted Lasso, don't take it too seriously. The series is light hearted and fun to watch. His character is based on a coach he knew years ago so Ted Lasso will always see the positive in every negative. The cast is brilliant!
Hope you continue the series, it's really great I think you're right about the shot of the stadium as they filmed at both Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park and at Hayes & Yeading United F.C.'s SkyEX Community stadium in Hillingdon.
There is a program in the NFL to expand worldwide so each team is allowed to add an international player to the team without using one of the precious 53 spots available on the roster. However, there are many international players in the NFL but they all come through the American college football system.
This is a great show hope that you finish it :D. This show is a lot less about football then you think it is. It's a Comedy Drama with a splash of Football added in.
your really gunna love this show , i know of at least one aussie nrl ( a form of rugby mainly played in the state of new south wales ) player become an nfl player in america , and i know of 2 aussie basket ball players that ended up playing in the states too so i guess it happens
This is without a doubt the best tv show I’ve ever watched, and I’m old. You should definitely watch it. Oh and Ted is from Kansas. :) And Crystal Palace let them use their club and pitch for filming. 😊
NFL is mostly American but there are international players. Most from outside the USA come from Canada where American football is hugely popular and then a mix across the rest of the world.
American football is mostly American players. Same with basketball (NBA), though there are some foreign players. The NHL (hockey) and MLB (baseball) both have tons of foreign players, though. Also, I just found your channel and I'm so excited to experience the Ted Lasso journey with you.
No wayyyyyy I’m legit as excited for this as I am arrow I just watched this recently few months back I absolutely binged the shit out of it I loved it can’t wait for next epi to drop and I havent Even watch this one yet
The SPEED with which I clicked this! Ted Lasso is incredible, it had me caring sooooo much about footballers and I'm very much not a sports fan. It still got me heart and soul.
The NFL is about 95% American-born. The foreign-born players tend to be Canadian, Nigerian, Australian, Mexican and Samoan (although Samoa is part of the US, it's considered separate for sporting purposes). There's also a few Europeans.
Ted lasso is a show that just makes me happy. It’s a comfort show. Excited for you to experience it

You're the first person I've seen react who was genuinely skeptical all the way through as to why Ted Lasso was hired which I thought was cool. Please keep watching!
DON THE SHOW SELECTION RECENTLY HAS BEEN TOP TIER
My favorite part of watching EPL fans, especially those in the UK, shift from thinking this is a show about football and instead realize it's a show about people involved in football. Great reaction!
Never wanted you to watch a show more then this one
7 years ago when ABC was showing the UEFA Champions League, there were a couple of commercials featuring Ted Lasso just for fun. Few years after that those commercials inspired the show.
By far the best show I've watched- the emotions and comedy are amazing
This shit is my absolute comfort show
To this day (!) I’m upset that they ended it after S3
God I miss this show 😭. I think about Ted Lasso on a regular basis
Watching Ted Lasso, don't take it too seriously. The series is light hearted and fun to watch. His character is based on a coach he knew years ago so Ted Lasso will always see the positive in every negative. The cast is brilliant!
More Ted Lasso mate! It will crush you in all the right ways.
Hope you continue the series, it's really great
I think you're right about the shot of the stadium as they filmed at both Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park and at Hayes & Yeading United F.C.'s SkyEX Community stadium in Hillingdon.
I'm here for Ted Lasso!!!
Found your channel via your Avatar the Last Airbender reactions, stoked to watch this one with you too since it’s one of my fav shows now too.
There is a program in the NFL to expand worldwide so each team is allowed to add an international player to the team without using one of the precious 53 spots available on the roster. However, there are many international players in the NFL but they all come through the American college football system.
u already bro is gonna cry so many times during this show😭
This is a great show hope that you finish it :D. This show is a lot less about football then you think it is. It's a Comedy Drama with a splash of Football added in.
Loved this show! Hope you enjoy!!
@20:10 The gift basket in his apartment says "Tim Lasso" lmao
your really gunna love this show , i know of at least one aussie nrl ( a form of rugby mainly played in the state of new south wales ) player become an nfl player in america , and i know of 2 aussie basket ball players that ended up playing in the states too so i guess it happens
This is without a doubt the best tv show I’ve ever watched, and I’m old. You should definitely watch it.
Oh and Ted is from Kansas. :)
And Crystal Palace let them use their club and pitch for filming. 😊
NFL is mostly American but there are international players. Most from outside the USA come from Canada where American football is hugely popular and then a mix across the rest of the world.
I hope you watch the whole 3 seasons. You'll enjoy the show a lot, i'm sure n i look forward to going on this journey with you.
You were right it is Crystal Palace stadium bro
Fabulous reaction. I hope you stick with it. 👊🏼
American football is mostly American players. Same with basketball (NBA), though there are some foreign players. The NHL (hockey) and MLB (baseball) both have tons of foreign players, though. Also, I just found your channel and I'm so excited to experience the Ted Lasso journey with you.
Loved it Don!
YESSSSSS, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TED LASSOOOO
It is Crystal Palace’s stadium
Did you say not in Kansas anymore was a saying and more worryingly what is abbey road 😂😂
The guy who invented the GIF pronounced it JIF, but most people still say it with a hard G sound rather than the J sound
The NFL is about 95% American-born. The foreign-born players tend to be Canadian, Nigerian, Australian, Mexican and Samoan (although Samoa is part of the US, it's considered separate for sporting purposes). There's also a few Europeans.
This show has so many inside jokes for us that love football
Btw, there are no “coaching badges” or an equivalent for any of the major American sports leagues.
