There is formula that is followed for retirement benefits which is your age plus service need to add up to 80/85 depending on when you were hired; these people new this when they were hired; they can get the monies that were paid in to the district so at least that is not lost.
Who in their right mind would want to get a teaching job in Houston! The stress of knowing your job can taken away at any time has got to be unbearable. It’s like being bullied all the time! TEA needs to go there and see what is happening. Mike Miles cares about nobody but himself!
Not being taught in this bizarre regime: Empathy. Compassion. Human decency. Reading and writing (worksheets are no replacement for books). Critical thinking. Knowledge. Intellectual curiosity. Humility among leaders. Preparation for further study. I've seen a great deal that concerns me in US education in the past thirty years, and I'm still appalled by everything I've read about Houston. What colossal hubris this man has. What incredible damage he's doing. I seldom make predictions, but I'll chance it: By the time those in power grasp the scale of the problem, he'll have long ago taken his massive golden parachute and fled, leaving disaster in his wake.
It’s heartbreaking how some people can treat others in such terrible ways. That was a very selfish and terrible decision to make as leader. 🙏🏽 for all affected
Greed. Record corporate profits. Not enough tax money for roads, schools, housing and healthcare, as usual. War isn’t getting cheaper but Wall Street is happy enough. Everything is fine. 😮
The disaster is that every school that met the standard to reject NES is having their princpals replaced and facing major budget cuts. While NES schools are receiving larger budgets. My guess is that Miles is tanking the successful schools to make the NES program look more favorable.
I transferred my kids 2 years ago from hisd. I was part of the PTO for many years and it sadden me when we tried getting parents out to vote and share what will come head(currently right now) they dismissed it smh I hate it but it was told. Y'all let TEA come in and do this it was only a few parents that cared. It's sad just sad ... I love 5thward but I saw it coming a mile away and no one wanted to help
To save $$$$ fire poeple, so you don't have to pay them , hire at a lower rate with no hope of staying on worrking. Strike and nobody return to work until all those poeple who made these decisions are fired themselves.
Okayyy, but to the ones that worked 20+ yrs, should be able to get their pensions!!! Talk about getting screwed by HISD 🤬

You work 5 to 8 yrs you get paid $1175 for Para professionals and janitors. She has worked for 23 yrs she will get around $2'000 in pension.
Houston schools bout to be dirty as hell 😐
Why can’t black people speak proper English? Is it bc your teachers didn’t teach you?
They been musty already
He doesn't have Houston children best interests in mind! His mindset stuck in Colorado!
Can't stand this ego-driven narcissist
Don’t forget! HISD employees who made over 200k saw their pay triple under Miles yet we have funding issues.
We just found out he’s been sending Texas money back to those schools in Colorado.
Mike Miles has destroyed every district he has worked for

Sadly, TEA couldn’t care less about lowly teachers or public schools. They serve themselves, that is all.
Well, only black teachers can teach the black children and it’s a lose lose for all.
They're more important than some teachers!
I totally agree

How are they making job cuts if houston is the largest city in texas!

@@bfrancis9898no it’s called corruption. How can you say more tax money when public servants are stealing it?
Please sign in to remove Mike as superintendent.
Mike Miles is no good and needs to go.
This is terrible. Irresponsible spending.
The custodians can apply at other school districts.
Why isn't Mayor Whitmire not fighting as well. He's the Mayor and this is his City. He's too quiet regarding HISD!
Well, there’s a reason why. 1+1= $$$$$
