    FAQ:
Where are you from? Are you Japanese?
    - I am Swedish.
For how long have you lived in Japan?
    - I came to Japan in 2008.
Why did you move to Japan?
    - I was interested in Japan since I was a child, largely thanks to growing up playing a lot of (Japanese) videogames as well as a brief interest in anime during my teenage years. When I finally came here for the first time I felt that it was a really nice and interesting country, and I decided to do what I could to move here permanently.
How did you get a visa to Japan?
    - It's complicated and my case is quite different from most, as I've always been self-employed. But basically, as long as you can show the immigration authorities that you have a stable income, there's usually a way. Personally, I was here on journalist visas until a few years ago when I got married. Now I have a spouse visa.
    Do you work in Japan?
    - Yes, I'm a photographer. Currently, most of my work is related to tourism and travel in Japan, but I also do portrait photography as well as documentary work. I used to write news stories and articles about Japan as well, mostly for newspapers in Sweden, but for the last 3-4 years, my work has been almost exclusively about photography. Sometimes I appear on TV too.
    What camera do you use?
    - My live walks are recorded with my phone, a Samsung S21 ultra, mounted on a DJI OM4 Gimbal. 4K videos are mostly shot with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. For my "real work", I mostly use a Nikon Z7, but I also have a Z6, Fujifilm X-T3, Leica Q, Sony RX1R mk II and Ricoh GR III that comes with me from time to time.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to move to Japan?
    - Study, learn a skill that's in demand in Japan. There are plenty of available jobs here. Some knowledge of the Japanese language would also help a lot, not just to get you a job, but also so that you can actually enjoy life while living here as well.
    How did you learn Japanese?
    - I went to language school in Tokyo for one year in 2010-2011. After that, I've also taken some online courses and studied on my own.
How many languages do you speak?
    - Swedish, English and Japanese reasonably well, and also a bit of German, as I lived there before coming to Japan.
    Will you make bicycle videos?
    - No. Streaming and interacting with my viewers while riding a bike would be too dangerous.
    Can you show your face?
    - I prefer to keep a bit of privacy here on RUclips, at least for the time being. I do streams exclusive to my Patreon followers from time to time where I show my face though, so if you are really eager to see what I look like, and if you want to support the channel as well, you should consider joining me there. / tokyoexplorer

The scenery here is quite a change from the visual cacophony of Japan! This is how I imagine much of post-industrial Europe works l would look in a fairy tale. Thanks for taking us on this walk!

Beautiful and relaxing walk in the fascinating town of your youth. Ah, cooling rain! Fading to black in my memory- thanks LA. Your favourite record store hangout, cool! I loved a certain used and bootleg record store. Speaking of that, a happy shout out to our @pilotgrrl1! Enjoy it all, TE! ✌👍

I remember visiting Norrköping on my interrail tour back then, but sadly I had very little time because of train delays.. Still, the tram is absolute amazing!

Thank you for showing us around where you grew up, looks very quiet and safe there. The older buildings are very beautiful, liked the architectural style of the library at the end. Not sure why but the streets reminded me a bit of Copenhagen.

Thank you TE for reminding me of Linköping 40km away from Norrköping. My colleagues worked there. I haven't visited Linköping but I miss those days I took them to a client in Akita and Tama. The client took us to Karaoke and Onsen.

Wow, that's a beautiful city. I'm very fond of old industrial architecture. I like to see it so well preserved. That's something we fail to do in Spain.

I live in Sweden, was in Norrköping once. Was surprised how beautiful the city is with its old buildings, canals, trams etc. I think Norrköping resembles more Eastern European cities then typical Swedish, because in many Swedish cities the majority of old buildings have been torn down and we have only four cities with trams (Gothenburg, Norrköping, Stockholm and now Lund).

Started watching this in the background -
Though enjoying the Proustian remembrances of things past. Intend to come back to it with a little more more attention , relaxation - and less caffeine ! Thanks for sharing those fragments of your childhood and youth. I had the same feeling growing up with wanting to leave the suburbs and travel to far places. I guess its recognition of personal individuation - and also the fact that we're a lot more connected now than ever ..

I'm really enjoying your videos from Sweden; great to see something different! I think I understand some of your feelings about coming back to your home country from Japan; there is definitely a lower standard of service here in Canada too. I was in Japan for 3 years, and when I came back home, I really missed the service and convenience in Japan, for a long time! I also understand that you feel less comfortable livestreaming in Sweden, same feeling herein Canada. By the way, the garden you started your walk in is beautiful, especially the cactus garden; that's amazing! Anyways, enjoy your vacation, looking forward to seeing more from Sweden; I love gardens, can you visit any famous gardens?

Hi TE, i mentioned it in the Live chat. The Carol Reed Mysteries by MDNA games set in Nörrkoping have interesting stories and I recognised a few landmarks from your walk that are in the games. I have been thinking of visiting because of the game and your walk has provided more info in the city. I'll be visiting one day.

It’s very interesting and enjoyable seeing where you grew up. I think it’s a beautiful city. I love the colorful decorations that hang above the cobblestone streets and sidewalks. In my hometown most of the once pretty brick streets from long ago are covered with asphalt (and then potholes) and our sidewalks are concrete.
I was surprised at the pronunciation of your town. “K” is “sh” sound in Swedish? Or maybe I’m hearing it wrong?
Hoping I’ll catch a live Swedish stream sometime before you leave! :)
