I love using a wood rice paddle to cook with when I do a quick stir fry. Because I live in Hawaii, I wash my wooden utensils very carefully and dry with a dish towel and then lay them out to air dry as well. I noticed that if I try to put them away right away I would have a problem with mold as well. Hawai’i is similar to Okinawa (my mother’s family is from there ) so maybe the humidity and warm air does that.

I needed to cook for myself faster than the average person, and as I got older I was able to do it.
