  • Alpinestars Toucan Boot First Impressions and overview.
    After looking at MANY touring/off-road boots I decided on getting the Alpinestars Toucan boot. In this video I explain why I chose the Toucan Gore-Tex boot over other boots like the BMW Gravel boot. I also show you the boot up close and in 4K so you can see it for yourself and help decide if it's right for you.
    THANKS FOR WATCHING! Let's Go Explore!

      Planning to buy these. How is the built & quality on these ? How is the waterproof layering holding up ? What life do ya expect for these in terms or touring & mild off-roading ? Considering the specs I guess these are one of the best in terms of Looks/Protection/Comfort/Waterproofing out there in the market. I had TCX Baja GTX, Forma Terra Adv & AS tech 7 enduro also on mind. Which ya think will be an all season touring boot with good protection as well as life. ? I’m more confused between the Tech 7 Enduro & Toucans.

    Everything I hear about Astars customer service sucks, including their lack of response to my warranty inquiry. At these prices, ghosting customers with QC issues is unacceptable.

      Yes, one of them has had water seep into the boot and they weren't very helpful.

      I hear ya about the confusion between all the different names/types. As far as the toucans go.... I really have liked them and they have offered the protection I've wanted. Even when I my leg got pinned under a bike and the toucan protected me, very happy about that. Touring wise these are great too, have been comfortable and dry while on the road, great traction when stopped at lights, and comfortable wearing all day. The one thing I'm a bit disappointed in is water breaches the Boot off road going through puddles and I haven't figured out how or why. They're covered by Klim latitude riding pants that are goretex as well, so not really sure where the breach is coming from. I wrote to Alpinestars customer care and they didn't help at all. In rain they stay dry, splashing through puddles I have a pond in my right Boot. Beyond the leakage, the build quality is great, I've ridden about 10k miles in them now touring, in mud, sand, much, swampy water, and anything else I can throw at them and I see no failures of materials or seams. I've also heard great things about the tech 7 enduros, but have not tried them on. Hope that helps. I would call these a good all season touring boot, they do get warm in the fl summer, but not more than most boots of this type. I'd say these will last for a long time touring and mild off road.

      @@MotoTravelUSA Thnkxx. Tech 7 Enduro now comes with drystar. Which is better in terms of protection as well as length is more which means more waterproofing but goretex is the best in the industry when comes to waterproofing as well as breathability. So I was confused on spending a few extra on the tech 7 drystsr not knowing how will they hold up against time in keeping feet dry. But while touring all day comfort is also equally important & tech 7’s won’t be comfy than this. I guess I should go for the toucans only. Rest depends upon ma luck about how these hold on along with time, but the issue of water seeping is what I’m really concerned of which ya mentioned above, I guess it does have few one way holes in them to allow perspiration go out, maybe the water is coming from there when ya jump into a puddle or water body & the impact forces the water inside through those holes. Anyways, Thnkxx a lot. It did helped me

    hows this compare to the corozals

    How much does this boot add to your height? I'm looking for the lowest heel height

    • @MotoTravelUSA
      @MotoTravelUSA  4 года назад

      I’d say about 1 1/2” to 2” additional height approx.... the actual measurements of the sole at the heel is 1” and the toe 1/2”. Hope that helps

    how's this compare to alpinestar Corozal ?

    • @MotoTravelUSA
      @MotoTravelUSA  2 года назад

      Haven't tried the corozal, but they're drystar vs goretex in the toucan, if that makes a difference. On forums people highly praised the Toucans, that's why I got them and have really liked them using them for 20,000+ miles. I'll buy another pair when these wear out.

      I have both corizals and toucans. Toucans if off road, corizals for touring and the dirt roads. If serious off road then toucans all the way. Toucans have a bigger toe box than the corizals and are sized large. If you're a 1/2 size go next whole size lower in the toucans.
      Toucans are good touring boots, don't get me wrong, but a bit "chunky" to wear around when walking.

    This is a sales pitch. Forma boots. Half the price and twice the quality. Romanian made, not Chinese.

    • @MotoTravelUSA
      @MotoTravelUSA  3 года назад +3

      Nope, just my first impressions. I wasn’t provided the boots and paid full price to get them. After doing much more off road I would totally recommend them. Comfortable, saves my ankle on a fall, stays dry. I’m sure the forma boots are good too, just don’t have a pair to give an impression. I’m glad there are lots of options

      Forma adventure boot is a work boot with off-road buckles. Broke my ankle with a FA boot because they don’t disperse impacts from the side. Bike landed on my leg and the boot didn’t help at all.
