@mattbennett06 I think, some form of questioning took place before, and after the release of The Crucible. The time after is a secure reflection of as he says, the Hysteria among politicians, and he was re-questioned and stood in front of a committee due to the suspected 'origins' and inspirations of the of Play. However before, was a more general test him and his friends (as far as we are concerned) underwent to un-practically measure their patriotism.
I learned of the Red Scare and McCarthyism last year is AP U.S. History and now we are reading "The Crucible" in AP Literature & Composition. As a 16 year old, it's just history, and learning of these hit me hard. It's amazing how much happened and how it is so bad to be hurt with these, giving up friends, family, for your own skin or being sent to jail for no real reason...but learning of someone actually going through this in a 30 minute interview...it hurts me. It's amazingly disturbing...
all the internet sources I've found say he was questioned by the HUAC in 1956 - 3 years AFTER the Crucible was released. But he says its the other way round...... confusing
I have to watch this for school
zeek GD as do i
did you ever finish the assignment
One of the most brilliant men to have come our way. I'm glad he lived during my lifetime.
Man I find these stories interesting but I lose a part of that joy purely because it's schoolwork.
POV: You found a comment from 2022
