What a glorious day it will be when Chouchou can finally eat food all by himself.
Hannah is such an amazing human. Imagine what our world would be like if everyone had even half the compassion she has.
God yes! I think I’ll cry 😅
I have x4 compassion =)
He is gonna love it!
🍹🍹🍹🍹
I’m so glad to hear he finally got his cleft palate surgery! I hope his recovery goes smoothly
🤲Amen !
He did?! So happy for him. I hope he can finds his forever home soon
As a nurse to humans, I *can not* stress enough the importance of having your supplies ready beforehand, better to be over prepared than in the middle of a procedure and needing something. Especially if you're the only one there, besides the patient, or in this case, a cat.😁
❤️YES!!!! Chouchou "IS" the dear sweet Patient 💞🐈🐈🐈🐈🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🍼🕊️🕊️🕊️🙏🙏💞💞💞❤️❣️
Also a nurse to humans, and that is exactly right, I wish our human patients were this damn cute. I have never used a esophagus tube but slow is necessary! The esophagus is just the tube that runs to the stomach where the food collects. A G-tube can receive faster bolus feedings, e-tube-slow basal type feedings.
Chouchou doesn't look too excited about the tube but we all know how necessary this is, and he will be happy when able to eat normally and enjoy regular cats life. ❤️❤️❤️
ChouChou has never eaten "normally" in his life so that will be a skill he'll have to learn. 😉
2:26 My Loki also found his voice when I had to tube feed him! He’s been so chatty ever since. He was also a recovering feral kitten before that and tube feeding strengthened our bond tremendously. Obviously I wish no cat would ever have a need to be tube fed, but for anyone out there who just learned they need to start doing this for their injured cat, I assure you it isn’t as scary / overwhelming as it might seem. Your relationship with your cat will almost certainly improve if you are patient and affectionate during the feeding process.
And a tip for the less patient (like those with ADHD/EFDD), find a 30 minute podcast or something to listen to while you do it if you fear you may grow restless during the feeding process. Never try to speed it up to finish quicker.
I’m so grateful to the Kitten Lady for posting this video & sharing best practices with loving (possibly terrified but incredibly dedicated) cat parents! ♡
Omg i Love that name!!!
Thank you for sharing this!
Hi all. Did anyone else notice that was Dog recovery food? Does it matter? I’ve always wondered if I can give certain dogs to my cat
So happy to see this update on Chou Chou! Glad to see he was able to have surgery to fix his cleft palate! Hope his recovery goes smoothly and the surgery was successful 🙏🙏🙏
He got so big, not a little dandelion puff anymore! So glad to hear he got his surgery. Thanks for sharing about him!
it’s so delightful to see chou chou meowing and batting at toys even as he’s recovering from surgery. thank you for all the work you do!
He’s just so adorable.I wonder if he’s so compliant, because he’s used to getting fed by hand.
I’ve syringe fed my sweet girl orally, and she was soooo good at it too, but she was a just generally an easy going cat.
I feel so sorry for Chou, this looks so uncomfortable, even imagining he has a tube in his neck makes me almost cry. But I know it’s necessary and he’s such a brave boy for taking it all so well. I hope he recovers soon and gets to live a happy life because he’s such a sweet soul that deserves it
don’t feel sorry for him! He is a champion and thanks to Hannah and all the OKC folks he has a chance at an amazing life!! He’s also been tubefed for most of his life and he tolerates it really well. In this video he seemed super chill and enjoying his time hanging out with foster mom ❤
I think he's living a happy life now...he may have moments of discomfort but he doesn't seem too bothered by them, probably because he's used to it and also calm and sweet-tempered by nature. But, yes, it will be great when he can eat on his own. :)
I've had cats with the tube it doesn't seem to bother them unless it clogs and the human can't get it fixed. They get frustrated when you spend an hour trouble shooting on the phone with the vet at dinner time. Just focus on the end goal when his mouth heals Chouchou will be able to feed himself for the first time no more giant hole into his sinuses
@@heidiclaire I agree, a short term solution, otherwise he might not survive.❤
Such a sweet baby. Him and Ferguson are always melting my heart. 🥰
I fed my cat Kali with an e-tube for quite when she got too sick to eat or drink!!! Thankfully she made a full recovery and she’s back to being as well-fed as ever!
What did she have? How did she recover?
What a lucky cat to find you out of anyone else in the world. That cat really hit the jackpot finding you 🥰
Kl is so skilled at treatment. And also at making beautiful videos
@@troikatuggle1343 absolutely 💯 agree!
I was on tube feeding for a long time. It is amazing and very admirable to see how much care and love you pour into the healthcare of your cats, foster or otherwise!
Whilst I don't know if cats have the same nerve endings as humans, one thing I will suggest from my own experience is - try to use warm water for flushings! It's a strange thing, but I noticed when I pushed cold water in, I would feel it like a trickle of cold water down my oesophagus. It was uncomfortable and nauseating, so body-temp warm water helps! It's so good you're doing it slowly too. That helps a lot. Thank you for sharing this educational video, and I hope Chouchou recovers quickly!
I do a lot of tube feeding with my foster kitties and I really appreciate this advice, thank you!
Your suggestion about warming the water is also true for giving a cat subcutaneous fluids. I wish I had known that years ago when I was trying to give subcutaneous saline to my beloved cat who had kidney disease. He was a very calm, easy going cat and putting the needle under his skin was no problem but when the cool or cold saline hit he would jump a little and the needle would come out. I ended up having to take him every few days to the vet and have them do it which was more stressful for him. They never mentioned warming the saline and I don't know if they warmed it either. They probably had 2 people to give the fluids with one person holding him still while I was doing it by myself.
I was also on tube feedings and going to suggest the same exact thing!
I’m so proud of his progress!! It felt like just yesterday you made us aware of his cleft palate and the daunting task of getting him big enough for his surgery. Now look at this man’s, absolutely a trooper both you and him! 🥺❤️
Exactly, time flies!! He's come such a long way. We had a cat with FIP and I remember how daunting it seemed to have to treat her for three full months. She's been FIP free for almost a year now.
He's huge I'm so happy for him
So good to see Chou Chou progressing! Sweet little guy.
Aww, Chouchou, his little squeaks are so adorable! I’m so glad he’s recovering well, and has such competent and loving care. I look forward to the video of you showing him tuck his smooshy little face into a bowl of yums.
So happy to learn that he was finally able to get his surgery. Hoping for a smooth and successful recovery for the cutie pie. ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for not only your time and ❤... but expense to help Chouchou live a happy life 🐈⬛ purr... meow... head bonk on leg
I adore Hannah's reaction at the meow! ❤💥
I am so happy he had his surgery. ❤️
Hes gotten so big, I'm happy for him that he could finally have the surgery.
Chouchou’s little e-tube bandana’s are the cutest! He looks like a little kitty cowboy 🤠
Good job with the tube feeding. He was so good. I had human patients who acted up more than he did. Good boy. ❤️
My heart. How precious. He is such a champion, taking all of this in stride. I can't wait to see his full recovery. Go, Chou! Great job, Hannah.
I was wondering last night how Chouchou was doing! Glad to know he's had the surgery and is healing well! He's such a good fuzzy!
OMG love seeing him thriving so well. He is a lucky guy! We are lucky to have heard him meow, super adorable.
Aww, look how well he is doing! Love this little marshmallow cloud! ☁️
Love this! This is far more descriptive than the training we received from our vet when we first dealt with an e-tube, which meant that we learned from struggling through issues and advice we found online. I wish we’d had this video!
When you were getting ready to feed him, Chouchou was leaning back and I wonder if he was waiting for his hydrated, flattened pellets. 😀 He remembers how he used to eat. His tiny meows though...I have to watch that part on repeat because it is SO cute! Great job Chouchou! You are doing so well on the e-tube and soon, you will get to learn how to eat with your mouth. It will take some getting used to but I am confident you will be eating like a pro in no time! 😘
Well done chou chou. Hoping the breathing has improved and less face cleaning will be needed over time 🙏
Cleft palate repair does not impact breathing at all.
He is such a gorgeous kitty, I am glad he has had his surgery and I hope his recovery is speedy and smooth ❤️ 💖 💙 💗
I cannot WAIT until this little guy is healthy and fully healed. It's important for people to see this, though -- brachycephalic cats can be popular sometimes, and people need to realize that it's not healthy and can result in a kitty having to go through all this difficulty.
I'am so glad to see that Chou Chou finally had his surgery and that he's recovering well. He 's such a beautiful young persian boy now ! I'm looking forward to seeing him eat by himself now. As a nurse working in a hospital in the Southwest of France , I wanted to congratulate you about your great knowledge in veterinarian medecine and technical cares but also for all the dedication and love that you provide to your foster kittens. You are an amazing person. Best regards from France
The look of delight on your face when he meowed was absolutely priceless. He's really coming into his own.
Chouchou!!!
I'm so happy he's doing well... :)
So happy he has had his surgery and is recovering well! Looking forward to seeing him learn to eat by himself and be able to taste his food and let you know what he does and doesn't like!
We love Chou Chou
Chouchou will have a whole new world open up when able to eat normally.
Sweetest boy
The Kitty Kollars were a godsend when our young cat had an e-tube placed in an emergency. The alternative is a high level of skill with nonstick bandages and adhesive wrap, which all has to be redone every time you feed. We used two of the "kollars" so one could be washed while the other was in use- super easy. Our young cat figured out in 3 feedings that, when we sat down together in the particular feeding spot and went through all this wackiness with the syringes, suddenly his hunger would go away!
His feeding tube was much longer than Chouchou's, which wasn't good. He broke the "Christmas tree" attachment twice (shattered the plastic) by whacking it on the floor. The second time, he also tore out all of the stitches securing the tube to his neck, which was a real problem since he did this on the first day of the 2021 winter storm in Texas. Huge shout-out to the emergency vet techs who helped us despite no power, no water, half staff, snow everywhere.
Also, you would not believe the mess created when you try to get an air bubble out of the food syringe while pointing the tip UP at the ceiling. Good grief.
Oh my his little meow is so cute! The look of shock on your face was great! lol. I'm so happy he is doing better and healing so well! Can't wait for him to eat his first meal via his mouth and new palate!
before watching your videos I never even considered fostering kittens but after seeing a few of your videos on how to help these little babies I was able to help 16 different cats! One did end up passing away mostly due to a miscommunication with the shelter but 15 out of 16 is a really good number! When I first clicked on this video I thought "I could never do that" But after you showed yourself doing it calmly and easily I feel like I could too! Your videos helped me feel empowered enough to take on the hard job of fostering because you make it less scary. Thank you for making these videos and thank you for making videos talking about the sad part and the yucky part and the funny part. You have saved so many kittens personally but because of your videos and books thousands of cats and kittens have been saved by people who never would have tried without your inspiration. Thank you for what you do.
I'm happy to hear that the e-tube was possible and is working well!
You know, it kinda brings back the days when Hannah fostered Chloe. Sure both her and Chouchou's cases are different, but they have been under Hannah's care a lot longer than most of her foster animals.
He is just so trusting and sweet. And that tiny meow….swoon!
How patient both Hanna and ChouChou are! Thank you!
Chou Chou is my favorite Jim Henson creation 🥰 but seriously to see him thriving and healthy post operation is heartening. Thank you Hannah, Yige and Andrew! ❤️
Good thing that he finally got his cleft palate fixed! 🐱He is a beautiful cat, and you are a beautiful soul.....! 💖🐾
Chouchou has gotten so big. Good to know that Chouchou had the surgery. It's going to take multiple surgeries, isn't it?
If everything heals correctly, this will be the only one he’ll need! ❤
@@jjbee11 That's great news. I figured Chouchou would need more as he grew older since it was such an extreme cleft palate.
But if this is the only one, then Chouchou can be adopted after he recovers.
@@margaretalbrecht4650 nope! That’s why they waited until he was 10 months old, so he would be pretty much full grown :)
That’s fantastic news! Thank you Justis
he's grown so much! I love his lil grinch feet
It's so relieving to hear that little Chouchou could get his palate surgery. And I'm so super thankful for humans like you, giving cats like him a chance for a happy life! 💕 Though I also wish you could take a minute in EVERY video that shows Chouchou to inform your viewers about the suffering caused by breeding deformities into cats. Persians may look cute and fluffy but sooo many of them have severe health problems throughout their whole life. Please everyone, don't support cat breeders!! 🙏
I totally agree. Thank you for saying this
Or dog breeders
He has the sweetest personality
Aw! Chou Chou is so cute! I love him so much you should make more videos of him!💕
Hello everyone, good viewing
My favorite part was your reaction to Chouchou meowing at you
He’s such a good sweet patient. ❤️
Thanks for the information the cat is such a beauty 😻🐾
I love your excitement when he meowed at you! ❤
He is gorgeous and a sweet boy I laughed when he meowed at you
Chouchou is such a chill boy, what a cutie. I'm so glad things are going well with him.
What an adorable cat, and may he have a very long and happy life❤❤❤
My little dog had an e-tube for two weeks after he was attacked by a German Shepherd. It was emotionally difficult, but the process was easy. Make sure to get the Christmas tree back in the tube tightly.
I'm glad to hear Chu chu is doing well ❤
I hope he makes a speedy recovery, he's in the right hands with you
He is such a gorgeous and patient Kitty. Thank you so much for this informative video. Looking forward to seeing him eat by mouth as nature intended. :-)
What a great system you have in place with him. He’s such a cutie pie.
Oh bless his little heart. I've been thinking about him and wondering if he got his surgery yet. It will be so good to see him when he is healed and eating on his own. I've said a little prayer for him everyday since I saw him as a kitten.🙏💖
He’s huge! And what a sweet meow!
Love him so much! Little fighter and the cutest cloud 🌧️ in the world
Chouchou is big strong furry baby, so in love with him. Hannah, you're a Goddess 💕
It's down to a science! ChouChou is in perfect hands, too! He's such a sweet baby!
Thanks for the update Andrew & Hannah!!
You are so good with all the cats, I enjoy watching all your videos.
Chouchou has gotten so big! So glad he's had his surgery and is doing well. 😊
With the warmers behind Chouchou's head, I thought he was wearing a Santa hat.
This is only but love for her cat friend, we need to take care of them ❤️
Oh I hope he heals well, he's so cute🥰
thats so amazing that he will be able to eat food by him self
OH MY GOSH HES GROWN UP SO MUCH SINCE LAST TIME I SAW HIM! AAAA HES SO PRECIOUS!
I love watching how you take such good care of ur kitties! The informational videos have taught me a lot ❣️
He's doing so so good with his e tube. He looks healthy and happy and that little meow!!! It's the first time I heard him meow too so adorable. I'm looking forward to seeing the fully healed palette end of month.
Aah! Well done Hannah! Your love and patience is slowly rewarding you. We can all see how much Chouchou adores you, he even meowed at/for you. Your videos bring so much heartiness to us! Thank you.❤
He is SUCH a good boy - you can tell he's used to this routine. You've done amazing things for this sweet boy.
You're such a good boy Chou Chou! I wish you a safe and secure recovery sweetheart. Thanks Hannah for spreading all your kittyknowledge. ❤️
Goodness ChouChou is so big!!! So happy he was able to get his surgery❤ You’ve done such an amazing job keeping him alive and adorable!
Chouchou meowed! He actually meowed!
Thank you so much for showing how to do this! I’ve been on the verge of using a feeding tube in the past, but thankfully not yet! It’s great to see such good visual instructions! 😻❤️
He's so precious. Well done boy xx
The cutie muppet looks adorable I’m so proud of him and how far he’s come omg ❤
You two are so patient with each other. ❤
So many would have given up with this cat... But not you, you're truly an angel 😢
The way he puts his lil floofy paw on your face is adorable, my Penny does the same and it melts me every time
He is the best and bravest little guy!! He's so good for all of this! God bless the rescuers!
ChouChou got so big!! I'm so glad he could finally have the surgery. I'm sure he'll be gobbling down his food like every other cat in a few short weeks! ❤
Such a good kitty! I hope he heals quickly and continues to have a wonderful life ❤️
This process was surprisingly similar to the process used when my turtle fractured her shell! She had to be dry docked to let it heal, and since aquatic turtles can't eat out of water, she had to be tube fed
Chouchou is so sweet, your made a miracle by raising him! Wish the very best for this sweet guy!
Such a good boy 💞 wishing you a speedy recovery Chou xx
I have never seen an E tube so this is so amazing to me thank you so much for all of these videos! Chouchou looks great for just having surgery. I really appreciate your love and dedication for these precious kitties!
This baby is so calm and still through it all! Such a beautiful kitty! God bless you both! 💖💖💖
He's gotten so big!!
Can't wait to see him being able to enjoy eating on his own.
