    I bought 3 "Kershaw" assisted folding knives for the guys. I did some research and found that the "made in USA logo'ed" knives are made in China but are made in the factory that make the non-made in USA Kershaw knives. The only difference on the outside is the color scheme. The actions are crisp with a positive stop and lock. The stee is labeled 8CR13MOV. They came fairly sharp but of course I had to put a 6000+ edge on them and they hold an edge well. I paid $13 each. The Originals were running at $65 at that time. I know I should be buying "real" merch but for one fourth the price it's hard to pass up. Real knives shouldn't cost $300-$400. They have over a 1000% mark up.

    So I have the real Ka-Bar you showed. I got it from SMKW. My dad bought the same one off temu. We compared them and the color was alittle off between the two. The temu one was a lighter tan. But that could be the fact mine is older by a few years. But as far we could tell it’s a real ka-bar. Without out sending both off to have the steel tested. You can’t tell at all if it’s “fake”. It’s the real deal to me.

    Real BM bugout scales will flex some when pushed. And for the axis lock. They do come in either black or stainless depending on the color scheme.
    Not saying it may be real. But real ones do that too. And the action. Even new BM Bugouts have a break in period before they are really smooth.

    • @RandoWayne
      @RandoWayne  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you for that info! I only held one iteration of the bugout and it was fairly smooth. That being said the guy ant the store was thinking it open and closed a bunch like it was his job so I’m assuming that is why. The 2 I have did vary oddly enough with flexing the second seems the most ‘real’.
      Bra safe out there and take care!

      @@RandoWayne yea. That’s the “display knife” the one everyone handles. When you guy them. It should be a brand new one. I’ve been a BM fan since my days in the Military. Some models are better than others. I love the Bugout. But not a fan of the stock scales. I love the carbon fiber one though!
      I have several different BM knives. The discontinued 555 is my personal favorite.
      But I do have a $30 Amazon unbranded clone of the bugout. And am impressed with it. Sure it’s no where near as nice. And like you said with these, I have no idea what the steel is. I’d probably guess 440c. But after break in, the action is nice. Doesn’t hold edge terribly well. But easy to sharpen quickly. I think it would be just fine for anyone who wants or likes the design but can’t or won’t spend $200 for a real one. I’d assume these Temu ones are on par with the Amazon clone. Not a bad knife for the price!
      And rock on man! You to!

      @@kaifriesen2664 it definitely has some flex to it. But that’s also part of the design. It’s a sub 2oz knife. That’s part of the appeal. Sure there’s countless aftermarket scales. Some better functioning. Some make the axis lock harder to use. But nearly all add bulk. Taking away from the slim light knife. Benchmade themselves know this. That’s why you can buy factory ones with a variety of scales

    What the "Benchmade" and "KaBar" knives actually are is 100% illegal counterfeit merchandise that violate US copyright laws. It's one thing to rip off a design; knife companies do it all the time. It's entirely another matter to slap a US company's trademark on your outright fake and then violate their copyright on their packaging and paperwork. In one fell swoop the Chinese who make this stuff (Temu is actually many "stores" that gather stuff together, kind of like Amazon has sellers) rip off both the buyer and the company that holds the copyright/trademark. Fun bonus: purchasing these and bringing them into the US is illegal and you CAN be arrested or fined by CBP. Probably won't bother you if you buy a couple, but if you're buying like cases of these things to resell? If you get caught they WILL prosecute you.

    • @RandoWayne
      @RandoWayne  Месяц назад +1

      Just like many other things that get copied on the market these knives follow suit. I know companies that produce items and sell them are trying to make an honest venture while these copies can definitely put a damper on why they are doing. It makes sense that if someone bought and was trying to resell these that they could be held accountable as they are participating in screwing over legit companies. For those that buy like I did and in my case more for inspection I know I’m not helping the cause here but maybe I can help others to choose more wisely. Thanks for watching and take care

    The real bugout can definitely be squeezed together, that’s why I went with the Hogue Deka, it’s $40 cheaper, has better scales and comes in better steel, either Magnacut or 20cv. Hogue is definitely the most underrated USA made knife company.

    • @RandoWayne

      I recall it being a little firmer in nature but then again I didn’t have a real comparison. The second clone I opened felt more “real” as the scales seemed a little stronger.
