That is partially what ECT is these days, but with a low-level general anesthetic ... It can help with depression ... I've had 6 sessions twice in the last 8 years. Not sure that it helped much, but that's more because of external factors that I can't change, so have to change the way I look at them. Physical factors also come into play for me, but how much does the physical stem from the mental/emotional anyway? If we are born with physical disabilities, are we also born with a way to live with them? Some manage to live fulfilling, happy lives with them, whereas others just wait to be released from them to return to the earth and be born anew once more ... or is it new, or do the original emotional/mental issues continue to return as we are reborn? like a circle ever turning ... no beginning and no ending ... Let's hope not ... I'd love to think that we are born tabula rasa ...

Comparison with an abstract or socially ideal condition is fruitless and meaningless; we all come into a particular condition and situation that is our burden and our glory, to accept and then to trascend. It is through our circumstances, and not in spite of them, that we find ourselves, and the deeper meaning of our lives. I hope, sincerely, that you find the treasure hidden in the filth.
