  • Canon Zoom Lens EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM Err 01
    Err 01
"Communications between the camera and lens is faulty.
    Clean the lens contacts"
But it does not help to clean the lens contacts or the camera contacts.
The Err 01 is a normal issue because the aperture flex cable is broken inside the lens, and the aperture assembly with the flex cable, or only the flex cable have to be changed to a new one.
But it could also be something else has broken inside the camera or the lens.

It's so impressive to see you take the lens apart! I used to own one decades ago, it was a pretty good kit-lens for the Canon 5D II - fascinating to see its insides!!

The push in dust cover for the circuit board. Would have liked to see it put in with a rubber mallet.
Glad the lens worked, im guessing the first one took a little bit longer.

Yeah, it took me some time in the first lens to figure out what parts to not take out of the lens, but I think it was the way that would make less adjustment issues. But it took longer to put in the aperture flex cable than I would think of.
Next time it will even more easy.

    Hi Mike,
How did you make the lens group alignement after the repair?

You have to look in the PART 1, there I show how it’s possible to do as little as possible mess up with the lens system.
It worked really fine in my lens, because I checked after the repair and the focus was pin sharp.
When disassemble the lens assembly in the front section and specifically the lens in front of the aperture assembly, it is VERY IMPORTANT to set the marks I’m showing in the video.
