Thank you for an excellent mic comparison with proper descriptions of conditions and mic distance. This is one of the best real-world comparisons I’ve viewed. Well done and cheers!
Thanks for the review and leaving the sound quality white noise in the beginning as a great comparison of the natural individuality of each microphone qualities! Audio Test Quality: 59 dB Synco Mic - D2 $249 comparison to higher quality microphones and works great for minimalist jobs.
very informative! d2 seems like a great deal. my impressions: mke 600 felt tiny and d2 is lacking some HF clarity. both the ntg 3 and mke 416 justify their price for out-of-the-box sound quality but after eq-ing the difference might not be much.
Synco seems like a capable mic. It picks up a bit more low end than the others which is nice. I can't get over how much more sensitive the NTG3 is. I'm sure in some applications that's great, in others maybe not so much. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for this upload. Out of all the mkh 416 tests on youtube this was the most informative for me. I really appreciate the one, two, and three foot distance testing. Thanks for also indicating the gain settings on the mixpre. I own a mke600 but boy that 416 sounds fabulous even at three feet away.
It's very hard to watch a review video of good microphones when the beginning dialogue audio quality is so bad. That being said, I'm glad I continued watching. The comparison review itself was good. I sincerely recommend opening with the best dialogue audio you can do. Most people will hear that poor audio at the beginning and leave, especially on a mic comparison .
I opted to open with on camera audio so that is the start of reference (which I mentioned) and then you get to listen to the different audio gear. If I open with a good audio then I already psychologically add a bias influence.
@@mdifilm I know what you were trying to do. But the reality will be indicated in your videos RUclips analytics. Watch where people stop watching the video. I hope you took this as constructive criticism. Because I felt your video would have gotten better views (and more complete watch times) had it lead with audio to show you know what you are doing with audio. Go check out Curtis Judd's channel. I could not imagine him ever doing a mic review video and not opening with top quality dialogue audio. Any way, I felt your comparison was good, just that it's probably not getting the views it should because RUclipss algorithms are seeing people not watching past the first minute. I wish you luck, happy holidays :-)
Yea, I agree, Curtis is more a sound guy than I am lol he got a lot more followers too lol (he's one of the person I have befriend a while back and also I check his channel all the time when it comes to sound gears) lol mine is more for what would I use it for in film environment :) Happy holidays!
Wow! at the cost of a fraction you get the value of sound at its best. Well done Synco! i would love to move on to sound tech recording with this kind of gear!
Thanks for the test! Synco seems to be very close to 416. I like that both make organic bg noise. But 416 have probably more body and presence. Would it be possible to listen to wav files for comparison? Taking price into account ...
I was going to get the wave files together. But we did a few take without cut. So if you don’t mind all the babbling between actual filming I’ll get it to you soon.
I have just learned about the Synco Mic recently, I'm not familiar with the brand. The next mic purchase for my voice over work is going to be a good shotgun, something of much better quality than my Rode NTG 2. Seems like the Synco might fit the bill.
in the house, my fridge, and outside, construction noise. in fact, we used it exclusively recently for a short film and was super surprised how the background music didn't get pick up.

If you can afford the 416 go for it. Lol I do love the mke600 and the d2 may be an back option

Congratulations. You are the winner of the drawing from Synco. Please contact synco‘s fb page to get your mic!

been impressed so far with it. :)
Really appreciate your review! Excellent comparison. Really helps my decision. I think the D2 is an excellent value! Thanks so much for posting!
Thanks for watching
A very good review! I have the D2 and am very impressed with it! I use it exclusively for voiceover work.
Great to hear!
Thanks. Useful information. Great audio might not get noticed... but BAD audio could be a huge distraction from an otherwise good film.
thaks for watching and yes, agreed. :)
Very well done tests! Thanks for this :) keep it coming
This mic sounds amazing!
thanks for watching!
Hi can you make an updated version of this review ? I'm intrested in synco d2 ... :D
still working great and nothing has changed.
@@mdifilm Thank you !
Any thoughts of how it sound in an acoustically treated room?
Sorry. No. Since we use it mostly on location than a treated room. I assuming will sound ad good as the other ones
@@mdifilm Thanks for getting back to me. Cheers!
Been looking into a new shotgun mic, this has been very helpful!!
Hey, thanks for watching, you are the first to comment too! :)

i've included a link under the description, enjoy!

Mike Lig not a fan of the NGT2?
Thanks for the video I pick up synco for $130. New
Enjoy it
it still sounded great at 3ft
Is there a refrigerator running in the Background? No joking :D finally a good review without just unboxing and just read the specs

I like the rode ntg3
Sounds pretty good.
thanks for watching
at $249 I don't know how you can get wrong with the mic.
Will Synco Mic D2 be suitable for Foley recordings?
I think it’s feasible. But I believe most foley used indoor mics. I’m not very familiar with those since most of our recording are done for dialogues
why is the NTG always so hot?
It’s picking up more than the other mics. That means for it to be properly used you will have to drop the gain down to maybe 25 to get a good sound.
Great concept, though you should have had each mic in every shot so we could see the placement, distance & angle !
