- The United Nations Security Council held a meeting on hostages held by Hamas. Hamas-led terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and seizing 252 hostages. Family members of some of the hostages also addressed the meeting and narrated their ordeal. There was unanimous condemnation of hostage-taking by all 15 council members and other speakers, but Russia, China and Algeria - which represents the 22 Arab nations on the council - and other countries also condemned Israel’s offensive in Gaza, which the Hamas-run health ministry says has killed over 35,000 Palestinians.

This meeting is for all the Hostages. The Hundred or so Israeli held in Gaza and the thousands of Palestinians held hostage in Israeli prisons. International law deems arbitrarily detention as Hostage taking, regardless the view of the rules of Israel in the Apartheid they inflict on the Palestinians.

Yes a 6 year old Palestinian is a terrorist. Medical professionals and journalists are terrorists… Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank have literally been abducted from their homes before Oct 7th up to about 2 weeks ago at least. Please do your homework before you cast judgement.
Israel says it does not prosecute minors, but they apparently don’t believe a 6 year old Palestinian is a minor.

There are currently 193 UN Member States 57 of them believe in Allah's law and are absent from this hostage meeting after 223 days.
In April 2022, there were 4,450 Palestinian security prisoners in Israeli prisons - including 160 children, 32 women, and over 1,000 "administrative detainees" (indefinitely incarcerated without charge).

We are not aware that Gazans were taken hostages from their homes without doing anything wrong. War prisoners are not hostages.
First, may I seize this opportunity to appreciate the sponsors and promoters of this discussion on the evil of hostage taking. It's however disappointing that due to politics, the UN waited till thousands are killed, maimed and displaced before they come to do the necessary.
The world should be outraged by Hamas act of visiting violence on innocent people. Seizing innocent civilians as a means of addressing political issues should never be tolerated anywhere in the world.
The October 7th debacle could have been best handled if the international community had prevailed on Hamas and their sponsors to release the hostages unconditionally.
Even now, it is never late. Instead of wasting time trying to force Israel to cease fire without the release of all hostages, Israel will be isolated by all and sundry if they insist on military actions after all hostages are unconditionally released.
The UN must not forget that the entire world will descend into undesirable 3rd world war in event that they seek to force Israel into a cease fire without first securing the release of the hostages.
The conflagration that is bound to issue is best avoided in the interest of humanity.
Those applauding the madness of SA and their likes must remember that some of these nations will not contribute a dime when war breaks out. Indeed SA will be among the first to seek international humanitarian support and will not add value to any war efforts.
UN have a responsibility to reduce the tension now before things get out of hands.
The west must remain resolute and stand for the right cause, knowing fully well that if war breaks out today, their military will be at the heat of it. They will be expected to bear the brunt of humanitarian burden and their economy will suffer major hits.
It's up to the UN to prevail on Hamas and their sponsors to let go the hostages or keep mum as Israel steps into Rafah to seek the release of their citizens who were illegally abducted by a criminal terrorist organization Hamas.

Release the thousands of Palestinians held illegally in Israeli prisons, permanent ceasefire, all IDF out of Palestinian territory, Illegal Isreali settlements disbanded and end Apartheid / Illegal occupation.
