would you recommend I try to clean my 20euro fed-2 myself - it has slow shutter speeds too slow. has seen barely any use since new so lubricants maybe gummed up..?
Hey, thank you for your video. I have problem with my FED 2. Everything works perfectly fine. However, when rewinding the film back inside its cartridge, it gets stuck after rewinding like the last 3 pictures. I solved it with opening the camera in the dark and rewinding the film without it having to go over the first "roller" on the right side. It seems to be the problem there, since everything else moves as it should. Do you know how I could solve this problem?
Does this happen every time? It sounds like the disengaging collar around the shutter button got accidentally moved and locked the sprocket shaft. Because there's no logical explanation why it rotated freely for the rest of the roll and stopped suddenly when there were a couple frames left. The best thing would be to try and replicate it with a used film and the back door removed.
@@AlinCiortea I got the camera recently and just shot my first with it. Unfortunately I don't know if this happens every time. I sure will have look the next film. But thanks for your tips
@@AlinCiortea I looked at it again with out a film and it seems to be that the shutter locking mechanism doesn't lock the shutter properly. After locking there is still a metal pin which stops the first roller on the right side from spinning properly. I can turn the roller once bur after the first rotation it gets hold off by the metal pin from the shutter
Hello, master. It's me again. It turned out that I do not have a shutter speed of "B", and it seems that one shutter speed is working on all values. Which way to dig?
If you point the camera to something bright can you see light when you fire it? From your description I can only assume both curtains start traveling at the same time. Please check and we'll figure it out from there.
@@AlinCiortea I apologize for the strange behavior of RUclips: I've already written a reply three times and my messages are disappearing. Yes, the curtains move separately, there is a clearance. I have two 1/25 and 1/500 videos on my profile. It's not clear to me if there's any difference between the two.
@@egorshilov8473 they look similar from the videos indeed. Next step would be to take off the top plate and inspect the shutter speed control gear and latch.
@@kackenderkevin you'll have to take it apart, clean everything and relubricate it. it's a super simple design so there's nothing that should impede the rotation if cleaned.
Hi! Thanks for the video! I have a question and I'm sure you know where's the problem and where to apply the grease. This is the weird sound that makes my fed , the first shot sounds great, normal ...but the second one a little bit " slippery"? ruclips.net/video/lmiJbO7fbto/видео.htmlsi=MTz74dYLakGll29X
Sorry for the late reply... I probably missed it. That's the sound of dried lubricants in either the spring loaded curtains rollers or, more likely, the second curtain drum. Although I'm pretty sure it's a bit of both.
You're doing God's work. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! :)

@@AlbertKarhuFilms for sure! It's among the simplest soviet cameras. And once serviced among the finest and smoothest.
