I bought a Fed 3 for my school project on soviet photography and I just have to say thank you for the clear instructions on how to use it. My teacher explained it but not as good as you did. Thank you once again.
Very enjoyable video, thank you. I've had a 3b for about 20 years, was my first "real" camera. I used it for all of the photos of my (now adult) kids when they were small. I acquired other cameras over the years of course and put this on the shelf, but what recently caused me to pick it up again was, as you describe, the diopter adjustment. Probably 50 rolls through this camera, and I never realized it was there. I love it, and need it! Anyway, the rangefinder patch is still bright and sharp. A real pleasure to focus! And the leather case still has its beguiling smell which takes me right back to when I was trying to get my kids to stand still and smile.
Very cool to hear your story. I took a lot of pictures with my film cameras but wasn't smart enough to save the negatives. After scanning in the only print survivors I am milling a lot of old pictures.
Thank you for this well detailed video. I wanted to ask, how do you set the neural knob for the type of film? I am having trouble figuring this out. I would like to use color film but it is set to the black and white type.
1st is important that you know - the ASA/ISO setting and the film type know is just a reminder. It doesn't do anything to the camera. You turn the ASA knurled knob and place your ASA setting opposite the little dot that indicates your file type. Color or Black and White. The 3 film type dots do not move. The ASA knurled knob only moves around them. The two little black dots are indentations for a spanner wrench for taking the camera apart.

Thanks a ton. Found my grandpa’s FED3 and was wondering how it works. You explained it perfectly.

Thank you sir. I speak a bit of Russian, so I get the lettering....somewhat! "interestnya" as they would say.
Many thanks. Biggest problem is the viewfinder, which easily scratches eye glasses. Otherwise reliable and easy to repair

Where did you got that leather? Did you made it yourself or bought it already cut for this camera?
It came that way from eBay. They had several colors available.
