I'm a music teacher and singer, and I really just want to bring attention to how much their voices have matured and improved since the group came together. They have only gotten better musically and they could have rested on laurels they rightfully earned by winning the Sing Off. Even the health of their speaking voices tells you how they have organically gotten better individually and as an ensemble. Truly a once in a lifetime group
As I see more and more snippets of the Hollywood Bowl 2022 show, I realize how wonderful that experience must have been for those in audience, and I am frankly overcome with envy.

It was Ben Bram and the group's management who set up dozens of blind auditions (without the candidates knowing who they were auditioning for), and Matt was one of the short list who were then invited to sing for and with the group in LA. He showed up knowing all the bass parts from all their songs! As far as I know, I'm quoting Matt, and other comments from the group, correctly on all that. Other group historians, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. PTX were always expert at playing the social media game; if Avi had actually given his blessing to Matt, I have absolutely no doubt they would have arranged another Facebook "opportunity" to ease the way for saddened fans to accept "the new guy".
I love this bit. They do so many "evolution" videos...it's nice to have an evolution of PTX. I love how "conversational" they are, as if they are just talking to us individually. No pretense.
If you have watched the sing off (or re-watched all of their performances as often as I have) seeing them "breaking the record" or Mitch hitting that solo high note gets VERY nostalgic!
I KNEW they began the evolution video with Gregorian chants! I'm so impressed that they began with that because I recall that is the first music ever in history from music appreciation class I took in college. And it is no wonder Kevin was the one who mentioned it with his journey in classical. They SLAY anything they sing

Oh my gosh…I have watched so many songs…repeatedly, from The Sing Off….you have grown sooooo much! They were amazing then, but you are all on another level now! I’m so glad you took the opportunity to apply, and had the courage to go
they're like a Jazz band, Matt and Kevin are Rhythm section, Bass and Drums. Then Mitch is the saxes, Scott is the trombones, and Kirstin is the trumpets.
I got my first album from these guys on a rack in Walmart for free. I was blown away that they weren’t charging for that gold. Now I know why. It sold itself. 🤑🔥🔥

The only thing about this I don't like is how still the audience is like I cannot imagine how excited I would be to be there in front of them singing their evolution of pentatonix
I think a lot of them really couldn't believe what they were hearing and witnessing, I mean NO instruments and filling that space with their wall of sound, it is mind-boggling
Hearing about how their prize record deal was dropped a week in, I wonder if these record companies are honoring any of their commitments from these contests? Does anyone know?
No clue. They were not just dropped, they were payed a kill fee for the contract. But still... Honestly, I'm so glad they were dropped because a lukewarm standard company doing basic marketing would never had gotten Pentatonix out in the way they themselves did. They were basically pioneers in using social media and youtube to market music, and that kind of meduim is perfect for a capella since you kind of have to see it to belive it. AND they got out of a reality tv deal and got a much better one later.
Considering how neither side mentions each other, especially not in monetized content, it's likely part of the contract. Avi has been trying to make his name separate from them and it seems like a quite common thing to have in contracts.

@@camillep6873 It isn't that. Some people say there are more complex reasons for Avi's departure than just him missing his family. And apparently tensions had been a little high before he left. I honestly don't know what transpired but I know for sure that they are not all friends with him anymore. They have kept this all under wraps very well though, which I commend them for!

Hmm. I feel like they said “let’s put out a couch as we talk about our evolution and see what happens!” They did an excellent job showing their progression through the sing off. But they’ve done way more after that! They’re better at doing evolution of other people than they are of themselves. I was disappointed.

Don't know for sure, but the reason the Sing Off went on hiatus for a year was to work out this issue with Sony.
