I've been around a long time too in the world of fine art and printmaking, and to me, nothing diminishes an artist's contribution faster than long-time immersion into politics. In fact, I distrust the artist who virtue-signals, intimating that the world would be a better place if only HE were running things. Art is about visual beauty and original inventions and expressions of space, form, and light --- as opposed to making it about politics.
