How is that Rogue cover worth more than the first appearance of Rogue? C'mon, fam. Avengers annual 10 is the way to go.
Because you’re asking the wrong question. How come a NM/M Rogue cover is going for what a VF 1st app goes for… There’s a lot of copies of Avengers Annual 10 that exist. Graded 9.8 are through the roof, newsstands on the moon.
It’s all about rarity. A 1st appearance is a “more important” comic for the character, but most people naturally want what most others can’t get. I see this quite a bit where a variant cover is worth more than the character’s 1st appearance. Also covers often speak louder than content. It’s why 1st cover appearances of Ironheart, Wolverine, Gambit and Starling are worth more than the comics they were ACTUALLY in for the VERY 1st time.
@@ComicTom101 Variant hype has got out of hand. Like all collectables it's only worth , what people will pay. I would rather drop $250 on a key or gold and silver age books. Ones that will have a steady value rate increase.
I do like collecting Variant covers, if I like the art, but not one over $20.
There will always be great art Variant, miss one buy the next one at the start.
The question you should ask yourself when buying a comic, when the hype dies. Will your book hold and increase the value you bought in at.
@@comicbookgallery4431 Exactly!! Modern comic book spec is good for short term value and profit. We got too many wannabe investors banking on comic books as a hobby.
As much as I luv Comic Tom he is a Comic book seller. So he profits off of hype. Not only for his RUclips channel but also sells in his store.

I do love the top 10 list to see if I have a book that has shot up.
I do comic videos that stress doing your research before you buy.
I definitely agree that variants are over priced hype books. That are not worth it to buy, if you missed out.

When talking about the Rogue cover, I had never seen that similar Wolverine "banana" cover. That thing is flipping gorgeous.

Tom when you asked about what your favorite Easter egg was in the Loki Show and mentioned the THANOS copter I was just about to type in Spidey Super Stories 39 when it popped up as number 9 on the list. I’m happy that this series is FINALLY getting some love on the show as it’s whole focus was to get young people to read comics. Thank you by the way for producing those Dr. Seuss inspired comics for younger readers.

YES!!!! As the Biggest Defenders fan in your audience I have been saving and preserving my Defenders books for literally decades. I have 2 each Defenders 17 and 18 in near 9.8 condition in raw form. It looks like my patience is finally paying off.

A lot of sales now - Based Primarily on Cover Art. Probably always been a bit of a thing, but in the 80s covers were still getting there for the most part. But this century, covers are really quite a big issue with comics now. ASM 55 - hot nearly just for the cover.

Throg is definitely underrated. Definitely appreciate d.cates bringing him back in Thor. Epic moment when throg showed up zapping Donald Blake and lockjaw was just chilling in the back.

I have number two in my collection from the early 90’s when I was a kid. Sending that one off to CGC ASAP with the next shipment. Been grading all my comics from the early 90’s and they are in mint condition after all these years. Have some being graded now and waiting to get back. Stray dogs is over so these covers will die down soon. There are so many copies.
@@Ann-mq2te They still got a FCBD issue coming out next month, it's been optioned to be an animated project by Paramount, and the final issue left it open for a second series. So I don't see it'll die down.

I love this show on weeks like this, where there are 4 books (The Defenders, Batman, Infamous Ironman and Avengers Annual issues) that I bought off the rack and are on nobody’s radar, and suddenly they make the top 10 trending list!
I'm glad I was able to get Web of Spider-Man 1 when it came out.
The Infamous Iron Man was actually a good read! I love how the artist drew Victor Von Doom to look like Vincent Cassell!
i bought that infamous iron-man just for the cover back in the day, it's nice when those turn out to be keys. also, huzzah to your 3 years, i started watching them all at the start of the pandemic and you've become a weekend ritual. butch is the man, 'nuff said

Some of my recent acquisitions from Indie comics which looked cool in recent times: We Live 1 (4th Print), Oblivion Song 1, Eve 1, & Nocterra 1 a little while ago. Also collecting Department of Truth slowly (Have 1 & 2 Frison Variants)

The Wrecker and Absorbing Man first appearances are probably the safest spec if people are going after the Wrecking crew stuff. Those 2 issues have the best chance to sustain after the hype dies down
