    Enjoyed this episode so much! Thanks so much Marc, Dave and Bob! And the M5 is a major sleeper. Has been a staple of my rigs since 2012 for the same WYSIWYG reason. My favourite moment: Bob on modellers - "Aren't you tired of fuckin' around?"

    I’m crazy bummed, I couldn’t listen live but honest to god without Bob Bradshaw and Dave Friedman (Rig building/Rack Systems) to steal from there would be NO Fix Pedalboards Accessories. Both will never get an invoice from me for their metal fab. Seriously Bob invented my whole business and what he didn’t Dave did.

    You two are so patient. The gear sale show was awesome of course. I used to shop across the river at Motor City Guitar, Marty is the best. It’s totally obvious that Dave would be best buddies. All the best from 🇨🇦
    P.S. Those were some cool sleeper pedals, not to mention the amps. People had a problem with you selling gear? At good prices?……ugh

    I can tell you, the Impact comment from Dave is very TRUE, last time I saw Sebastian Bach, Detroit band Kaliedo opened, their guitarist was using an Axe Effects, power amp into a 4x12 cab. Cool sound(liked his playing/tone). BUT then my dude Brent Woods had HIS Marshall rig ready to go. The Bas set kicked off with some Skid Row & it was a HELL of a difference, I will FIGHT for my tube amp/rig setup...That moment in my life, I'll NEVER forget. Brent's tone had BALLS & the spread onstage was VASTLY different, that "punch" was there. Thus backing Dave's "Impact Argument" with live bands using TUBE Amps.

    Mick Mars IS Motley Crue. The recent gigs Crue have done with John 5 sound lifeless. John has no weight and authority to his sound. He needs some serious help in the rig department.

    @1:27:47 speaking of Delaytalk here. Lol. I messed up in buying the Boss Space echo pedal. The one that is in the regular boss enclosure. I should have bought the strymon el Capistan V2. I chickened out. If anyone is trying to decide on what tape echo to get. I would suggest the Boonar delay pedal and the Strymon El Capistan V2. I messed up in getting the boss one. Don't be me please!

    As an owner of many Friedman guitars and amps, I love them, but... what does using a tube amp or modeler have to do with stage volume and impact? Isn't it the difference between having cabs on stage or not, no matter what is pushing them? If someone uses a Powered Kemper or a Helix with power amps pushing cabinets, what's the difference in volume or impact (tone aside)? thanks.

    • @tone-talk
      @tone-talk  Год назад

      The difference is the interaction of tubes and speaker…that makes an impact on volume, impact and tone

  • @js_a92

    Much love, watch regularly. For everyone watching, I hope we all take Dave with a grain of salt when he talks about modern gear. Of course he'll argue for amps over modellers - It's what Dave grew up with, it's how he made a name for himself in the industry, and it's how he continues to make a living. I have a lot of respect for that and him, which is why I'm a regular listener. Just means there is an understandable bias on this topic.
    So when he says things like, "no one had a problem mixing Led Zeppelin back in the day," well of course not, because there was no other way to do it 50 years ago. The same could be said about Bob building "space station" racks, Zeppelin made due without! I know Dave knows this, as he admits it near the end of that line of conversation "this is an old man rant," and Bob jokes out it. This is exactly why I still come to watch, Dave has an opinion, but can admit it's just that.
    I've had to haul amps and gear to gigs, to university studying music... I am much happier with my Helix going direct. It comes down to logistics for the actual working musician; cost-effective and time-saving choices, when the only people who'll know the difference are the other guitarists/hobbyists in the audience. Even then, they'd only know the difference because they used their eyes and see it's an FRFR speaker pushing air rather than a guitar cabinet.
    Devin Townsend just had a rig-rundown drop on RUclips where he describes exactly why he uses an AxeFX, worth a watch too for more info from another pro on this topic!
    Looking forward to the next interview, Marc & Dave!

    Superchixxx....you need to get a Radial BigShot ABY switcher,....it's 2 switches 1 switch changes between amp A nd B,...the other swutch turns both on simultaneously.(It also has a tuner out jack
    If you want to also be able to change channels on each amp,....you are going to need to use each amps channel switching pedal. You're not going to be able to find a simple single switch pedal that will do amp switching as well as a amp channel changing all with one switch. The Radial BigShot,and the amp's channel switcher pedals will be the simplest way to dow want you want,.....so you would need to hiit the amp switcher for changing amps,....channel switchers for changing channels. ( I just bought a used BigShot for $60 Cdn)
