I've installed these mods in my PS1, and got a MemCard Pro. Whole set-up is amazing. Only problem is so many amazing games to play, so little time with which to play them! 😅
I've got xstation and mem card pro. I prefer my small crt. Hate look of old games on lcd. As long as my crt is alive I won't change to flat panel. hopefully in the future there will be external devices that can emulate crt look on flat panel.
How is the compatibility with this mod? I've seen videos that replace the CD-ROM with a SD card reader and MCBoot memory card, but apparently there are a lot of games that won't work. Really defeats the purpose of a mod if it takes a lot of money and time and ends up not playing a large chunk of the library.....

I’ve found that magic erasers work surprisingly well on old console shells. I have a white ps2 that was completely yellowed and one or two passes of the magic eraser and it completely white again. Although I think the erasers are abrasive but they haven’t ruined anything.
Great video and perfect timing yet again! I just picked up a PS1 a few days ago and wanted to do the xstation mod. Interested in selling the 3D printed bracket you didn’t use? Lol

Just finished the video. It's great and very pleasing to watch. Good idea to focus on these two mods as I think most of us will want to install these. Under 25 minutes for both of these installed is a nice watch. I currently have both these mods in my drawer awaiting installation. Just bogged down with other recaps/restores atm.
I'm loving my PS1Digital + PSIO + Memcard Pro. I can confirm most of the hate the PSIO gets is unwarranted and it's amazing to be able to play my physical discs whenever I want. Soon it's getting integration with Memcard Pro as well. Xstation is the new cool ODE but PSIO doesn't get enough love for retaining the original disc drive. I also recommend the Brooks PS2 to PS4 adapter to have a nice wireless controller experience.
Nice mod and the explanation was super clear on the video. Looks like a difficult mod so I went a different route on my mod. I bought a PSX launch model and swapped out the motherboard with raspberry pi 4 running Lakka. I 3D printed some USB holders for the front. Also printed some holders for hdmi and network cables for the back. I am impressed with the performance of the emulation on a pi 4. Only some simple soldering was required on the PSU board to connect to gpio for reset and power buttons to be functional.
Good one, lad. You must try looking for more PS1 originals and minis so you digitally mod them. Then you must sell them on Ebay or Kijiji for hundreds of dollars is that they are hard to find, even at many flea markets. You might try looking for broken ones and fix them to digital mod versions.
Bishi Bashi Special, Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition, Driver 2, Gex 3D: Enter The Gecko, Gex: Deep Cover Gecko, Gran Turismo 1, Rayman 1, Speed Freaks, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (UK) - those are my childhood games on a PS one :)
I found your channel recently and your videos are very helpful and informative so thank you for the content and for this video! I'll prob never do this mod cause it looks super hard but who knows either way good job on this mod it looks great :]
Great video. But please use a fiberglass pen for removing solder mask. its much safer to use, and I wouldn't recommend cutting caps of a motherboard. If a cap has vented and leaked. Corrosion has happened on the motherboard and you may end up ripping a trace, Safer to use a hot air station to remove them. Other than that. Some really good work.
Great video! I'm surprised the capacitors were leaking. I haven't seen PS1s come up in the conversation of consoles with capacitors leaking already(Game Gear, Nomad, Turbo Grafx etc.)
It could be how the system was stored. If it was in a warm humid environment it could have contributed to it leaking. I think under normal circumstances it they should typically be okay.
I bought my Playstation when the PS2 came out, circa 2000. I wanted to just focus on the cream of the crop, nothing but the best, most critically acclaimed games. I got a mod chip and got going. I was always a Nintendo guy, but I learned to like the Playstation.
Alright I’ll give you a comment to read. I really want this but I just have to wait for more ps1digitals to become available, so I can pay someone off of EBay for it (Someone who knows what they are doing). This is what I did for my n64digital and it’s awesome. Following your video however I was able to install the solderless gcloader into my GameCube along with a laser bear sd card mount myself. The retro gaming hobby has never been so fun 😊
Hey Tito, very nice job man (as usual). I’m impressed on how complicated this install looks like, yet you make it look so easy. Unfortunately my PS one is a 900X PAL region model which isn’t compatible with either mods, but the Xstation is half price from the MODE which is a no brainer. Cheers!
It's funny how I started off watching Gameboy DMG videos and thinking "Gosh, I wonder if I could handle that" to watching this and going "Oh, I KNOW I could handle that"
Fantastic video! High class stuff! I'm planning on the ultimate PS build myself, but getting hold of the PS1Digital set...might take some time. I also need someone experienced enough to put it all together :D I already got the Xstation kit on my way though!
Awesome video as always. I am planning on doing the HDMI mod to my original 5501 at some point, but I need to practice practice practice at soldering first. So jealous you have the original Silent Hill. I was looking to buy that for funsies a few weeks ago and saw that the price of that, and the other Silent Hill games are now around $200 complete. Good thing I have the second one.
Thank you dude! I live silent hill! I luckily bought most of them when the came out starting with number 2. I bought the first one many years ago but after it was initially released. It’s crazy how expensive those games have gotten. I still want to buy frozen memories but it’s so expensive now. Cheers buddy!!
I still have an original PS1 - only with original CD via RGB on my Sony LCD. The same with my PS2 or my N64. I think this is the only way for the right Retro-Feeling 😁✌
i think the real question everyone wants to know is did it mess with Sony's TOTL DAC chip?? This was an audiophile machine for CDs and purists made insane mods of the chassis over the years. I mean you can get a $79 Pi that plays every ps1 game known to man, but people hung on to their ps1s for the sound quality. (1st gen only) If it has the port that you hooked up a big game genie card that did just that and let you burn your ps1 games on a blank CD, then you own the best of the ps1 SQ stations.
I've installed these mods in my PS1, and got a MemCard Pro. Whole set-up is amazing. Only problem is so many amazing games to play, so little time with which to play them! 😅

Soon it's getting integration with Memcard Pro as well. Xstation is the new cool ODE but PSIO doesn't get enough love for retaining the original disc drive. I also recommend the Brooks PS2 to PS4 adapter to have a nice wireless controller experience.
Me too! Can’t wait to get my memcardpro! I do like that feature of the psio which allows for original games to be play physically.
Man this looks like very decent work, gz in your modded ps1:)
That’s sounds like a fun build! I love what people are doing with raspberry pi modules, it’s incredible. Cheers Bryan!
That looks like a tough mod ! Very beautiful work here :)
Amazing work, Tito. Your soldering skills are mesmerizing to watch.
Thank you Jamie!
I jus love your work :)
I hope to achieve at least half the quality of your videos one day (heck even one 3rd lol)
I love Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Klonoa Door to Phantomile. Klonoa was SUCH an underrated series :(
the original PS1 and PS2 where top of their game when they came out for good reason, great titles, controller was easy to use and the graphics.
awesome work dude
This is a fantastic video! Really excellently done, and very informative.
Weave and Bob?
haha oh yeah, I went to high school with those two!
I found your channel recently and your videos are very helpful and informative so thank you for the content and for this video! I'll prob never do this mod cause it looks super hard but who knows either way good job on this mod it looks great :]
So glad you found the channel and are enjoying it! Cheers!
amazing work, amazing channel.
Wow but how do you do such incredible intros!
Thank you Darenn! So glad you enjoy the intros! I have a lot of fun making them!
Gosh, you have precise soldering skills!
Really nice work, if I find a suitable PS1 I might attempt it, gotta work on my soldering skills till then xD
on PS1 I loved Vandal Hearts and FF IX
Was going to suggest Suikoden 2, but I saw you already had it. Excellent taste and great video!
Thank you dude! Great suggestion! I actually haven’t played it all the way through. I will one day!
Cheers!
I'm impressed... Your Videos are great. You are very informative on step by step processes etc. Keep it up 💯👍🤯
I've done these 2 mods to my friends PS1. Nothing too difficult except maybe that GPU ribbon, but I managed fine.
Surprisingly good soldering for blogger)) Great job!
Silent Hill looks so good, this is a dream to me if it's played on my good CRT monitor, yummmy !
Another fantastic video. Keep it up Tito!
Thank you buddy! So glad you enjoyed it! Will do! Cheers!
Great work as always 🙌🏽 you’re godlike
Thank you 🙏
I still have an original PS1 - only with original CD via RGB on my Sony LCD.
Woooooo!!!!! The PSOne Mod video is here!!!!!
I hope you enjoyed it! Cheers buddy!
