La recente storia di Stintino passa anche attraverso le spiagge che ospitano le ormai dismesse vecchie “Tonnare”. Strutture armoniosamente adagiate in riva al mare, testimoniano un passato dove la popolazione, esiliata dall’isola dell’Asinara, loro terra di origine, ha trovato in questi lidi, la possibilità di sopravvivere grazie alla pesca e alla lavorazione del tonno che per la sua “conservazione” contava sull’estrazione del prezioso sale, proveniente degli stagnetti retrodunali delle Saline. Queste spiagge hanno offerto sostentamento e benessere alla loro gente e ancora oggi continuano ad offrire a tutti, la possibilità di trascorrere una serena vacanza con tanti servizi.
The recent history of Stintino also passes through the beaches that are home to the now abandoned old "Tonnare". Structures harmoniously nestled by the sea coming from the Saline back dune ponds, state to a past where the population, exiled from the Asinara island, their land of origin, found in these shores the possibility of surviving by fishing and processing tuna, which for its “Conservation” counted on the extraction of the precious salt.
