  • Please Note these are now 4 pot Calipers
John Paul at RimmerBros demonstrates the process and tools needed to fit a big brake conversion kit to your MGF or TF.
The kit includes a pair of red MG embossed AP Racing 2 piston calipers, pads, pins, clips and 304mm discs. It can be used to either, replace the 4 piston factory AP racing system as fitted to MGF Trophy & MG TF 160, or to upgrade the standard sliding type brakes.
Straight forward bolt on replacement for original 4 pot calipers. If fitting these calipers as a brake upgrade from conventional sliding calipers, you will need to check the clearance to the back of the wheel carefully before allowing the wheel to rotate under driving conditions. As a rule of thumb, all Trophy specification alloy wheels have sufficient clearance as do all MG TF 135 and LE500 alloy wheels. Minimum wheel size = 16"

Great tutorial but you should wipe the protective oil off of the discs before using them with some brake cleaner.

Very well done John Paul. Again!
I love your tutorials, but please do check the microphone you use, there's quite a bit of distortion, and that's the only criticism I can think of, thanks!

Thanks, Wilfred. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the distortion. We're from Lincolnshire and that's just the way we talk! ;)

Hi, any chance you could do some more videos on the Range Rover P38, especially common faults with them, water leaks in the foot well and electrical faults, I love working on mine but not many workshop manuals available, love the videos you do, top work.

Hi and thanks for your kind words.
At the minute we don't have any immediate P38 plans. There are quite a few workshop manuals for sale online though and possibly a quick search might reveal some "what to watch out for" videos on RUclips.

Second listening and am I right? 16 inch alloys allow enough room for the calipers (and 304mm discs) to fit in.
My TF is a cool blue and I would say it's alloys are already 16inches, so upgrading is at reach then?

Hi, thank you for your fantastic tutorials! So, if minimum wheel size it's 16, can i do the same job on my MG ZR 160? Thank you

I'm afraid not as the calipers etc are different. Sorry :(

@@lorenzopiazza193 If you email mgrover@rimmerbros.com with your vehicle details and VIN (chassis) number they will ensure that you have the perfect part numbers for you to order. Hope that helps :)

Thanks Rimmer Bros for your great tutorials! Just if it helps, as Rimmer Bros says in their video, the ULW 16" multispoke (the wheels MGF 75th Anniversary mounts) don't allow the big caliper, it needs 3mm spacers at least. Here you can see the wheels I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/6AWBCKgrqKA/видео.html
