LAN vs. Aria, Tin C2, how to EQ your headphones, and how many SSRs do I own? The Q&A 👉 ruclips.net/video/r4AQWZhNBTc/видео.html

The aria snow edition is my preference for tuning. So I'd love to see them revamp that 80 dollar price range with something better in technicality with the same tuning or at least close in tuning

I'm the same, and I really think the 80-100 dollars need a vocal focused Iem with good technical performance. I say need but I'm really happy with what I have, it's wishful thinking.

Very good video as always. Super Review has always been my go to reference point if I want to buy IEM. But I have to disagree with one thing in this video. I find the transient speed in Moondrop LAN is surprisingly FAST for the price. Even EA500 not even close. I produce psy-trance music which has super fast bass instrument and LAN satisfies me whether in psy-trance or metal music. I need fast cheap DD and this is it. Although treble resolution leaves a lot to be desired, but considering the price, LAN is definitely a hidden gem.

  • @MechFrankaTLieu

I got the LAN and find it overall improvement over the Chu , new body material with better build , better finishing , detachable cable , new driver and now a better tuning , it tame the treble on the Chu and give the Bass a needed boost but still the LAN can be sometime a bit too lean, for that I pair the IEM with Moondrop's own T cable ( 6N OCC Copper ) on 4.4 balance output and both of them scale well with more power ( though not exactly significantly so )

I loved the sound of the SSR, even more than the Blessing 2. interesting the SSR graphs somewhat similarly to the original Etymotic ER4B one of the first IEMs, and specifically designed for binaural listening and media (essentially audio recorded by special mics in a dummy head, that when listened back on the right gear sounds completely holographic). Etymotic changed its curve to be a bit easier to listen to, but if you use spatial audio DSP or the 3D audio of modern game engines the SSR is very spacious and holographic. I also found that technically, it held up really well, even prefer its bass clarity over the Blessing 2. Unfortunately, for myself, my SSR went through the wash, and only one side survived.
I did move back to Etymotic, this time picking up on of their darker tuned designs the ER2XR, which is just an incredible experience, even coming from having used the ER4SR in the past, I like the warmer sound.
The LAN looks great either way, and I can see it having a versatile signature for use outdoors and at home.

The SSR's technical performance is why I decide it's not worth to buy the Lan. All I did is just EQ my SSR to Lan's FR, and it's my daily driver now ^^

very nice. i might need to buy a new sleeping iem since my quarks, mh775, and now spaceships have broken. so for my next sleeping iem, the number one requirement will be a detachable cable. i'll keep these in mind if i do decide to buy a new one since it turns out my crn fits extremely well and actually are a good sleeping iem for me. ironic since it's one of the larger ones i own.

It’s odd about the Softears type pouch, as I’ve also heard that the Lan uses the Softears Volume driver, and not the Chu driver. I’m Def curious, so looking into it Moondrop Is associated with Softears, to what depth I have no idea. I’d be curious to hear it against the Volume! All the best, Sonny T

You almost got me excited for the Lan for a while, but when I heard the cons and the comparisons... I'll pass.
I have the other 3 and SSR has by far the best tonal balance to my ears, sounds extremely neutral, vocals both male and female come off as they are supposed to. Chu is straight up V-Shaped with male vocals completely recessed in the mix, and the Zero is similar, just a bit better.
Seeing the graph made me feel disappointed, and hearing your thoughts I feel that even though they fixed the awful treble of the Chu, it's still gonna sound thinner and less neutral than I like. Technical performance lagging behind the SSR is the final nail in the coffin.
SSR remains the best IEM under $90 for me I guess ❤️

Hey Mark, I wanted to ask what your thoughts are on the Moondrop LAN for male vocals at this price point? I tend to like natural sounding vocals that are just a bit bright and forward.
Would you say this is one of the best options around $30-35 (right now)?
I was comparing these directly with the EPZ Q1 Pro. Thanks 👍

So if you want to go outside, you have to have something with emphasized bass, cause bass frequencies gets cancelled by outside noise. For very low budget go with kz ling long, its very good and after a very long time kz made something good, around same price you can also get qkz x hbb and final option in this budget is moondrop quarks dsp. If you can spend around 40 to 50 dollars get qkz x hbb khan or truthear zero.

Prioritise something with stable fit, which will depend on your ears of course. My favourite options for excercise is the QKZ HBB because it stays in my ears perfectly and has really good bass, but is lacking a bit of treble excitement. Second thing I use is the Moondrop SSR, which doesn't have too much bass, but is much more exciting.

Fun fact: "Lan" in Chinese can mean a few different things.
It can mean "blue", for example, or it can mean "orchidea".
But my favourite possible translation of the word "Lan" is "rotten" because it describes the sound of most IEMs Moondrop released in the last year and a half perfectly 🥴
