I was a private live in caregiver for many years. I was a able to save so much money! There is such a need. One job I noticed and thought I might look into is a store merchandise stocker. I go into the stores and racks and racks that have come off the truck but no one to stock shelves. Sometimes the trucks come in once or twice a week.
That's amazing! Caregiving is such meaningful work, and it's great you saved so much. Stocking shelves could definitely be a good option-flexible and always in demand!
My one concern about dog walking as an older person is the fact we aren't as agile as we once were. I fear perhaps have a dog that pulls you alot when walking that I would be more prone to tripping or something. My own dog someone gets under my feet.
Btw: you both look amazing. Great interaction, and I LOVE that it is outside. Makes me feel I am out there with you. Not super staged, but also no annoying background noises. So kudos on that!! :)
Decided to learn bartending as a side gig at 54. Took an online course. Now comes the hard part: Getting my first job with no prior experience. Not that worried. I live in The Villages, which makes me almost a kid around here. 😃
That’s awesome! Bartending is a great way to stay social and earn some extra cash. Starting in The Villages is perfect-you’ll bring some fresh energy to the scene. Wishing you the best of luck landing that first gig; your confidence will go a long way! 🍸😃
I’m in Lehigh n y’all are great! I’m dealing with ageism now on trying to find a receptionist job. I have 30 yrs experience n they still want Barbie!!!
Thank you for your kind words! It’s so frustrating that ageism still exists, especially with your wealth of experience. Stay confident-you have so much to offer, and the right opportunity will come your way. Sending you encouragement from here!
My brother and 2 cousins all started their own ride share businesses instead of working for Uber. Lots of flexibility and they often refer each other when they can’t drive for their customers.
That's such a great idea! Starting a ride-share business independently allows for flexibility, personalized service, and building a loyal customer base. Kudos to them for taking control and creating something on their terms! 🚗💼
I started my own private driving business too in the greater Houston area but it still was not enough income to pay my bills. Before Covid I was super busy, needed to really hire someone to help but I closed after Covid. People need to do their market research, how many ride can you handle in a day, how many will you get, how much does insurance cost in your area? Lots to think about
Great question! Companies like FlexJobs, Remote.co, and We Work Remotely are great platforms to find reputable virtual positions. Some well-known companies hiring for remote roles include Amazon, Dell, and TTEC. Best of luck in your search!
I have to say the things mentioned like seamstress would be awesome if those could be classes taught to the younger generation. Crocheting, quilting and all. Seems to be a lost art.
Absolutely agree-skills like crocheting, quilting, and sewing are such valuable arts that deserve to be passed down! It would be amazing to see more classes and opportunities for the younger generation to learn these timeless crafts. Thanks for sharing such a great idea!
I used to be an architect. I have decided to become a counsellor. A lot of flexibility, you can decide what area of counselling you want to cover, for example management of stress in design offices.
That’s a brilliant transition! Leveraging your architecture background to counsel in stress management for design offices is such a thoughtful and unique niche. Best of luck in this fulfilling new path! 🌟
I'm a Realtor & it's not really a part-time career, BUT we always need assistants. So, look for a busy team or company & help with doing their Open Houses, or their day to day operations. You may decide you enjoy real estate & want to look for a new career path.
@@Teal_Seal It depends on what you do. If I have an Open House for the public and if I have an unlicensed assistant they are limited on what they can say. They can give a flyer to a prospective Buyer, but they can't offer any real information about the home. They can place signs out, serve food or beverages at an OH, help clients with signing in to the Open House. If they are hosting without a licensed agent being present, they can take down information on questions that the prospective Buyer has & the agents can follow up. Personally, I want a licensed agent at all my OH, but I'm just answering your question. Usually when I list a home, I have extra keys at the office. So, an unlicensed assistant can access the home and make sure there are plenty of flyers at the home. They can also pick up business cards to see who has shown the home. They can make calls on behalf of the agent to get an update from other's agents re what their clients felt about the home. They can speak with lenders to be updated on the loan process. There are lots of admin roles in real estate, update the listing, doing promotional marketing on SM. Also meeting with inspectors at the property if repairs need to be made. Of course, one doesn't need to be licensed to do staging of the home. There are so many details in real estate.
I retired as a dental hygienist after covid and 30 years and now do Rover and love it. I wish other people my age, I’m 58, would do it because I feel like I could trust an older person with my pets more.
I just found you. I served my church, so far, for 9 years decorating for hospitality for a lg conference we host annually. Each year is a different theme, including coordinating serving dishes. I've been advised to start renting out my decor for other people's events. Mind you it's only decor. However I have purchased cookware and serve ware and table covers only for the serving table. I'm not planning on branching out into linens, tents and tables. It's only myself and I'm a 63 yr old widow looking to improve my widows income. Any tips are welcome.
It sounds like you’ve built up some great experience with your church events! Renting out your decor could be a fantastic way to generate extra income. To get started, I’d recommend showcasing your decor and setup on social media or a simple website. You can also reach out to event planners in your area to let them know about your services. Word-of-mouth and local advertising can go a long way too. Best of luck as you start this new venture!
I thoroughly enjoyed your RUclips video on 27 jobs for women over 50. You came up with some great ideas that I haven't thought of before. I recently established a travel writing and content marketing agency that specializes in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. I have also been involved in the organization of trade shows and events for 25+ years. Do you have any tips on finding clients and starting a RUclips channel? I came across your RUclips channel and was very impressed with the quality and quantity of your content. Thank you for your valuable insights!
Thank you! Your work sounds amazing. Networking and sharing expertise online can help find clients. For RUclips, start with topics you're passionate about and post consistently. Best of luck!
That’s a tough situation, but don't let it discourage you! One approach is to highlight your experience and skills, while showcasing how they can benefit the company. Have you tried updating your resume to focus on your achievements or networking to find opportunities?
Absolutely, retail can be so challenging-it’s definitely not an easy job! Kudos to you for getting through it, even part-time. 😊 Thanks for sharing your experience!
I enjoyed this video very much...**especially the relationship between you two. I'm 74, have a wide range of jobs under my belt. But my side gig has always been metaphysics (40 yrs). Now teach and lecture...😊❤
Thank you for sharing! It’s wonderful to hear how you’ve turned your passion for metaphysics into a fulfilling side gig that allows you to teach and lecture. At 74, it’s inspiring to see how you’ve embraced lifelong learning and growth. 😊
I have significant editing experience as a former newspaper editor, and am now teaching news writing and business communication at a western university as an adjunct. I'd love to know how to find people like you, those writing a book that need help editing. Where is a good place to put out feelers or advertise? Would love to have a side gig of about 10 hours a week. Any ideas are welcome! Thank you!
With your impressive experience, you’d be a fantastic resource for aspiring authors! 😊 A great place to start is platforms like LinkedIn or professional networks where writers and editors connect. You could also look into websites like Reedsy, Upwork, or Fiverr to advertise your services. Joining writing groups on Facebook or local writing communities could help you find people working on books who need editing support. Wishing you all the best with your side gig-it sounds like a rewarding venture!

You're absolutely right to be cautious about scams when looking for virtual positions. Start with reputable platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, and FlexJobs-FlexJobs, in particular, screens jobs to ensure they're legitimate. You can also explore specific company websites or ask for recommendations in professional groups or forums related to your field. Stay vigilant, and good luck finding the perfect opportunity! 💻🌟
Those are fantastic ideas for part-time work! Mechanics, landscapers, and golf instructors can share their expertise while staying active and engaged. Plus, they allow you to keep doing what you enjoy while earning a little extra. Great suggestions! 🌟

There is going to be an enormous need for re- education help. Not sure what it will look like. But so much of the education system has been propaganda and lies, for those under 50, that as America is being reborn (and many other nations), educating people on truth will be needed. I am attending university in my late 40’s, early 50’s. I have been horrified at what is being taught. I have been in a blue state and a red state and the education is sadly very similar. I am often the only one who will question the crazy info being propagated. Many younger professors cannot get what I bring up because they are products of this purposeful system.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s inspiring that you’re pursuing education later in life and actively engaging in critical thinking. What changes do you think could help improve the education system and bring more balance to what’s being taught?
Yes, absolutely! For those prepared to learn, becoming a licensed massage therapist can be a fulfilling option. It's a chance to help others while creating a flexible and rewarding career path. Thank you for pointing that out! 😊
That's awesome! Start with topics you're passionate about, stay consistent, and engage with your audience. Wishing you the best as you build your channel-go for it!
Thanks for your feedback! We’re always looking for ways to share fresh ideas. Are there any specific types of jobs or retirement topics you'd like to see covered?
I’ve started a RUclips channel. I’d like to chronicle my raw plantbased journey. I’ve beat cancer for a year so far and I’d like tips from you guys to make a great channel! Btw I love your channel. Delivering flowers for a flower shop or delivering medications to people who can get out are PT jobs for a few people I know and they love it!

Only choose dogs you can manage when you meet them. I only do dogs under 40 lbs.& cats. I'm 66.
True … you would have to pick the dogs wisely! Even our little Ruby gets under my feet sometimes!
My 60 yr old sister just fractured her right foot tripping over her Labrador.
As a woman over 50, I wouldn’t walk dogs, because of balance and strength issues.
I have worked part time in a popular bakery for 31/2 years since retiring from teaching.

Just found you guys! Great info! What advice would you give for starting a RUclips channel?
We are getting this asked a lot so we are going to do a video on this soon. But for now create your page, its free and easy. Think about your topic and start making videos on your phone and post them.
Also…tips on a RUclips channel please
Starting a RUclips channel is such an exciting venture! Focus on topics you’re passionate about, post consistently, and engage with your audience in the comments. Keep your videos authentic-your unique perspective is what will set your channel apart. Wishing you lots of success!
This wouldn’t work in the UK - you can’t choose your hours and you can’t get into freelancing based on skills, only qualifications, so no matter how skilled and talented you are you won’t get anywhere. Even working from home like baking is a big red tape nightmare to get complaint with the health and safety standards. There are a million and one things I’m great at but I’ve been trying to get a job for months since the company I worked for got sold.
That sounds hard and I feel for you. But I just suggest you do your best and keep trying. You never know when something will appear.
Start by selling at your local farmers market or weekend boot sales.
The Customer Service Reps., needs to get WAY better. Speaking to people who don’t get see/ know the product; is really annoying.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes a video on RUclips tips please
We are drafting this up soon.
Yep you can't work in retail over 60 in Australia I say most employers employ younger people coz they don't cost the same as over people.
That’s a tough reality for many. Age should be seen as an asset, not a disadvantage. Thanks for highlighting this important issue!
I’m interested in RUclips…. Should I Vlog AND Blog??? Why DID you do Blogging in the first place? WHY did you QUIT blogging? WOULD IT BE WORTH Blogging again in addition to your RUclips?
We will do a video on this soon
Hi Janet!! There are so many FREE tutorials on RUclips about blogging and it can really turn into a lucrative business! I am just now starting my blog and I am almost 55! Good luck 😊!
To be a massage therapist, you have to go to school for it and get licensed.
You two are adorable. I enjoy your channel.
Thank you so much!
I would love to have a RUclips channel, ive taken care of the elderly, cleaned airbnb, had a daycare, I have a small ranch, I think id like to write children’s books and make kids cartoons ugh, i dont really know where to start, i do have a RUclips channel but i haven’t really had a real way to go. Hi, I responded personally below and will say the same thing here. Film your first video on your phone in landscape mode. It's easier if you can have it on on a tripod or at least resting one something so your hands are free. Try and make it at least 10 minutes. I think we will make a video on this in the near future, but there are lots of resources out there.
You need extensive training and licensure to be a massage therapist, and certified to be a health coach.
You guys know AI is a thing right? Lots of these have been made obsolete with AI. Delivery and retail are about the only side hustles that are left
You do have to be licensed to be a massage therapist
Yes, that’s correct! If you want to start a career as a massage therapist, you do need to be licensed.
I would prefer going to a massage therapist that has received license/dedicated training. A novice could do damage.
That's a valid point! It's important to choose someone with proper training to ensure safety and effectiveness. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Haha!
I would also choose Dog walking or book reviewing!❤
For now, I have my own channel and I discuss books- any advice is appreciated!!😊
That’s amazing-combining your love for books with your channel is such a fantastic idea! ❤😊 My advice? Stay consistent with your uploads, engage with your audience in the comments, and maybe experiment with formats like book challenges or live discussions to keep things fresh. Wishing you lots of success and happy reading!
@ Thanks for the advice!!😍
