A few years back my family did a 6 day layover in Singapore, and when we got coffee in the morning, the barista asked how long we were staying, and then stated that 6 days is way too long, there isn't that much to do in Singapore. When I pointed out that 6 days isn't enough meals to try everything I wanted to try, they wholeheartedly agreed. If more people understood that SG is a foodie stop as well as shopping/gardens/gambling/whatever-else-people do - I think a week would be pretty normal... I suggest that you try Taliwang in Kampong Glam on Kandahar St - get the Ayam Bakar Taliwang. So good.

$15 for one burger is crazy, the McDonalds here is doing a $5.00 meal deal, a burger, 4 chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink for $5.00, Burger King is doing the same deal for $5.99, and another local mom and pop place near me called Wonderdog has an $8.00 daily special, you get a burger, tenderloin, loose meat, or a bbq pulled pork, fries or tots, and a drink for $8.00, every day monday thru friday.

And I have all the money I need, I am retired with a nice chunk of change in an Index ETF fund in the stock market, so I can afford to eat anything I want. Once in a while I go out and eat a big steak or get a rib dinner at a BBQ place, maybe once a month, but 99% of the time I live on cheap food, that is also good food. Just because it is cheap, does not mean it is not good. A bar near me has the best burger I ever had in my life, it is 1/3 lb. and made with ground steak, fresh never frozen, and you get fries with it for $10.00, that is $7.50 for the burger and $2.50 for the fries. And the fries are not just regular fries, they are hand cut with the skin on and you can get them seasoned with different flavors, plus they give you so many you can not eat them all. They even said the prices were crazy, so it was even a lot for them. Mike Chen said all the asian countries have really cheap food, and he might move to one of them, so I was shocked at the high prices for food in Singapore.

Yeah i know some people will say y should first world country food prices be high but thats how the economics work. Just look at how much a can of coke cost in switerland.

That is 24 cans for $10, that is about $0.40 cents a can, which is pretty cheap. I drink coke, and I just got a case for $10 at the Kroger here, they are actually cheaper than Walmart for soda.

That water filter in the hotel room looked like it was just floating around in the tank. I think it needed to be screwed into the base in order to properly filter. So, you basically were just drinking the tap water.
