When he falls onto the table and that red bowl bounces off his head. He was up there with Laurel and Hardy.
The fall down the stairs was either a legitimate fall that wasn't planned and perfectly improved or it was scripted and acted so incredibly well that it looks unscripted. Either way, he is one of the most phenomenal actors we've ever seen.
Unfortanately I know this from personal experience.

He’s honestly kind of scary. He really nails how pathetic a drunk can act but also how they recognize it on some level and that imbues their behavior with an air of unpredictable menace. He even gets the clinking of ice in the glass right. Well done

I have the hardest time believing that he didn't drink much in life. Maybe he didn't drink much when he was working on TPB, but I have to imagine he either partied hard in his youth or he grew up around some alcoholics. He's just perfect.
He used to be an alcoholic and gambling addict back in the day. I asked him what they used in the show for the darker liqour, he said it was iced tea.

You don't have to be an alcoholic to understand alcoholics, just have to be around them and observe them. Every good actor is also good and observing people and picking up their mannerisms.

My favorite Jim Lahey moment is when he is so drunk from making a jacuzzi out of Jroc's Booberry vodka and he signs the park to Julian thinking that he is gonna work with Julian and he starts ranting and raving at the camera oh man when I watched that the first time I literally laughed so hard I cried, I have never laughed so much I could not even breathe from any show ever and I have watched a ton of funny shows but there is nothing more funny hands down TPB made me laugh til I almost passed out

I'd expect no less from such a poignant man. He didn't just play a great drunk; he gave that role a soul that no one else could have nailed but him. Even though Jim Lahey is a complete dick, we all love him because John Dunsworth commands that respect.
Thank you to whoever made this!!! I was on the set of Swearnet today and I couldn't help but think of John Dunsworth. He gave me a nickname of "Mr Angry" many years ago, gave me acting lessons and made me smile for once. He made the whole world smile! I miss him so much.
