IN that part of the US, there are only two poisonous species of snake of which this, is not one of them.
The poisonous ones are the copper head (copper colored) and the timber rattle snake (Wrong coloring for that one also).
This is either a black rat snake or a Northern Black racer. OR, could be just a water snake but the coloring seems to be wrong.
    He/she is obviously sunning themselves.
Being so close to the water I do suspect it to be some species of water snake though.
Sure, it would bite you if you got too close but more than likely it would RUN.
So, NEVER KILL a snake no matter the species as the earth needs them in the "circle of life".
Rat control is the best reason for keeping snakes of all species alive.
IN that part of the world there are about 20 species of snakes of which as I said only two are poisonous.
Copper heads are docile and will usually warn you if you get too close by rattling their tail against the leaves even though they don't have a rattle.
The timber rattler obviously uses it's natural rattle as a warning.
Always wear high boots or leggings that are snake bite resistant just in case.
The coloring of this first snake is very lovely. I'd even say it might be a red belly snake if I could see its belly as it would be a ruby red color rather than the usual white color.
The second one is defiantly a common water snake. Coloring is perfect for that species making it easy to identify.
And the third snake is also a common water snake like the second one.
The round black eye pupil is a sign of a NON poisonous snake.
A poisonous snake has a cat eye pupil.............Black vertical slit.
And the last snake I see joining the group is another common water snake.
Must be a family of them living there.
The larger snake in the group must be the mother of the gang. The coloring is quite different than any I've seen as a water snake species.
    Have FUN!!!

It started off being a lovely relaxing place to visit, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay long if I'd seen that snake. Great capture though.
