(Their label is literally "guardians" even tho everyone considers them as "monsters") They're completely made of positive/negative energy with only a little magic. Their spirits work completely different since their spirits aren't even fully connected to their physical forms. They wouldn't survive without a physical form but they can temporarily detach themselves from it (that's how they visit other people's dreams) the apples aren't actually their souls, they just make their abilities stronger and gift them with new abilities they wouldn't have without them. The twins could technically just- put down the apple somewhere. They would just lose a lot of their abilities. But yeah, the twins are technically immortal since they don't have souls that would destroy their physical forms when shattered ;-;

The attached Spirit won't be harmed when the soul they're attached to shatters, but it's still painful. And if you're asking if a Ghost can ever go to the Afterlife, then no.

Or are his vials little parts of different humans spirits/sould mixed in with paint that he drinks to get emotions? What do you think in your au, because this is something I'm going to he thinking about for a while haha.

Ok so, ink is the exception from all information sources from Aus, since is not like he is: "not being born with" or "shattered/taken away", after he destroyed his soul, the only reason he didn't die and is still there is cause his Au wasnt finished and the "death" option wasn't available (at least from what I understood) so he is a basically glitch like most others, and cannot experience nor natural emotions nor a regular death(I'm not sure anymore since the more I try to explain it the more *I* get confused xD)
Ink's AU was an unfinished paper sketch that didn't have any of the 'rules' that the multiverse follows. Ink's "character" is basically a translation from a mere sketch to a being made of Multiverse code. You could say that when he first entered the Multiverse he became someone/something else, kinda "reborn" I guess? Tho since he's not a character created digitally, the multiverse had some small troubles converting him to code and so he has small "translation errors" that make him extremely difficult to remove from the multiverse without damaging the core code. (Basically his "marks" are visible pieces of the Multiverse code that make him able to exist here ^^) (Sorry for the small ramble- ^^"♡)

I have a theory about emotions and feelings. Human feelings are chemical and neural responses that are processed by the limbic system, so depending on the monster they can have a human-like system. I think the ones that would have the most problems with this would be the skeletons since as they are not an organism they need the magic of their souls to do many everyday things even more without a brain. So this seemed more like a scientific research than a theory, but it is not mandatory to be like this, because if you used scientific evidence like me, it would be kind of boring and I would lose all the magic of the game, so pretend I didn't say anything and follow your happy life.
More on the science thing, what would the scientific name of monsters be? Might it only be the genus shared and each kind of monster is a different species? Or would they all be one species but with different races? How would the different kinds of magic work if it's one species with different races? So ye just a little more ramble to add to yours
