    One of the best videos I’ve stumbled across, currently in the process of thinking about getting a S1, I know a few people that have them but wanted more information and opinions on it and your video really helped me especially the mpg part lol, currently getting around 25-30 in my Clio RS, not a huge power difference between that and a S1 but just want something different

      That's much appreciated, thank you. I'm really glad it's been helpful. 35mpg has been average long term, with a mix between daily driving and weekend "spirited" driving. Sounds like a good alternative to a Clio RS as they are both rarer European hot hatches. I've got a few videos on the S1 and an upcoming road trip, so stick around!

    That's my Mum's old car! Vegas Yellow, and always on the lookout for that plate! We spotted it at Re:Fuel. It has a Revo Stage 1 Remap on it - so is running around 300bhp. 😁

      NO. WAY. That is absolutely hilarious, and explains why I've considered it so fast, over 228bhp! Thank you for saying. Did you have anything done suspension wise? If you have time, let me know if you know anything about what I comment about in my "everything wrong with it" video. I won't be mad. Thanks for reaching out!

    Good call for the new car! Don't know if this is actually the case, but from what I've seen the Abarth has been done to death on RUclips, and weirdly the S1 seems - at least to what the algorithm does for me - rarer. I'd kind of forgotten it exists until I saw this. Welcome to German car ownership haha

      Thank you very much, JJ, I know you like a rarer car, and it certainly is that; especially as a manual Audi S car. That's fantastic, I'm glad I could bring it back to the old psyche. Thank you, let's see how real world ownership sheds a light on German reliability. Hopefully see you at a show soon?

    I know what you mean about being scared of losing your license. I’ve had mine about two months now and the temptation to cane it down a 30 limit road in which you could easily get to 60 or 70 is too high 😂

    • @eddiearies
      @eddiearies  2 месяца назад +1

      It's such a capable car and the majority of UK roads don't support such. I also found out that it's actually running 300bhp, which doesn't help. Video to follow!

    you make a very good point about the speed cars can go now they getting faster but we still can,t legally go over 70.

    • @eddiearies
      @eddiearies  6 месяцев назад +1

      I truly feel the quicker you get to 70mph, the less of a chance you get to enjoy the progression, and you pretty much just end up "racing between the lights".

    Love mine had it for almost 4 years now and recently taken it to 400 bhp 550 nm. Hoping it will be a great track toy now

      The awd system can be configured to send more power to the rear (same setting as the RS3). Infotainment can be upgraded with CarPlay easily and that’s all you need to make the car feel new again. The gearbox was very vague when I got it too but adding the 4h-tech short shifter stopped me from missing the gears and made it way more precise. Common issues with this car are the water pump thermostat and the timing chain cover gasket failing.

      @@mrhacker99999 This is why I love the car community, there's always a fountain of knowledge and recommendations. It's reassuring to know you still love the car all these years later. There's something really intoxicating about them, I believe it's a mixture of the sound and manual gearbox. That's crazy power for such a small car, how is it holding up with all the upgrades? It's nice to know that my thoughts on the dynamics are shared. Good to know about the common issues too, hopefully I don't encounter any during my ownership. Thanks for your comments!

      @@mrhacker99999 Not a bad shout with spares and servicing. I'll certainly make sure it gets some TLC. It feels like it has had a bit of a mixed history of being cared for and not...

    I find it interesting how your right side A-pillar also has the panel trim not quite flush with the rest of the roofliner. Is it a tiny bit loose? Because my A1 has the exact same problem lol
    despite that, both the A1 and the S1 are a lot of fun for spirited drives! A bit too uncomfortable though

    • @eddiearies
      @eddiearies  6 месяцев назад

      I had a look yesterday, and you're right. It is slightly away from the roof lining on that side. It's okay on the other side. The rubber window seal was also slightly under it. It does look like it has been off before, and not clipped back on fully. It might have been someone installing a dashcam or something previously. Thanks for pointing it out, and I'm glad you're enjoying your A1. Perhaps don't buy an S1, it's even firmer!

    It’s detuned 35bhp compared to the s3 8p and it maybe a little lighter but compared to a stage 1/2/2+ S1 in standard form it’s extremely slow.

    • @eddiearies
      @eddiearies  6 месяцев назад +1

      Over a month later, I would certainly revise my initial speed and power concern - although still find a lot of it unusable on UK roads. Coming from a CR-V, it was a bit of a shock to the system!
