What makes my hat go off for Nightwish is that not only they added the world land trust's images of those few of many endangered species they also contributed by donating actual money for them

Only band that was giver permission to film their music video in The London Natural History Museum and has species named after them .
Crab , Tanidromites nightwishorum , Insect , Sciophila Holopaineni after Tuomas and beetle , Tmesisternus floorjansenae after Floor .

This song is so underrated. Initially, the soft ending took me by surprise, it felt like it was missing a final act, but the more I listen to it, the more I love it.

Yes, Procession might be a continuation of Endless Forms most Beautiful, since I believe that Tuomas said that it was the first song of Human Nature that he created.

I didn't listen to all of the Q&A at the end of the video so you may have already found your answer, but regarding what other song Procession sounds like: as Tuomas has said himself in the introduction video for the song (ruclips.net/video/rIoQ-bP6xYs/видео.html), it was the first song he wrote for this album and in his eyes all other songs flow from it. There's definitely obvious elements of Procession in Music, but it's there in other songs on the album as well only more subtle.
Someone in chat suggested that for your next Nightwish reaction, with the song Tribal, you should prelude it with the introduction video by Kai and I agree, it might be fun for you as a gear head since he talks a bit about the drums he had to add to be able to play some of the songs on the new album: ruclips.net/video/XcviGHdHHRY/видео.html

Hello Tank. I'm glad you like the song. I think it's massively underrated. One of the best songs on the album. Ok admittedly...which song isn't ;).
A good album to fall asleep listening to is definitely the solo album of Toumas: The life and times of Scrooge McDuck. That's not to say it's bad. On the contrary! It is wonderful! Very versatile. Wonderful music...so opposite to Nightwish and yet so similar. Listen to it, you won't regret it.
    Best regards.

The themes, music, melodies, riffs, drums etc throughout the whole album interlink!
The album continues on from The Greatest Show On Earth.
Then you reflect on past albums and say to yourself Hmm....🧐 the lyrics & the instruments, the composition, Tuomas is a musical composing genius! 👏 💜

It's my favourite too, Floor's vocals with the quiet electronic synth start. My goodness, her low quiet vibrato exudes emotion and vulnerability. It's like her voice is reaching inside of me on this song.
Then the message is very poignant.

If you do the second CD, you should do the last song/part "Ad Astra" in the original lyric video!

Tuomas wrote this as the first song after previous album...so being first ready for this album. He says that this is a reminder what is happening here in the globe and people should think a bit more general values of life. He also says that Floor did the vocals just like he wanted with bringing the mood correctly out. Yes...take a hat for Tribal...quite different.

Yes a very thought provoking song. BTW the band members have recorded intros to all the lyric videos your watching. A band member will explain a song and give their insight about it. In this song I think Tuomas gave the intro. In Tribal I think Kai gives the intro .. I can’t really remember .. but it makes sense that he does since he goes absolutely nuts on the drums in that song.

'Procession' is to the Human side of the album what 'Greatest Show' was for 'Endless Forms' more a piece than a song, and thematically central to the album.
It doesn't directly reuse anything as far as I know/realise but all other songs are derivative to this.
It's something you see with Ayreon as well ('The Day the World Breaks down' or more Clearly 'The Banishment')
'Poet and the Pendulum' is a bit different. While it's central to Dark Passion Play contextually , musically it stands out more, or Dark passion play is less thematically (music style wise) consistent.

Thank you for your reaction is nice to see how the songs hits you in different places. Procession is my favorite from this album. It hit me like ton of bricks straight from the first listen, I was listening the cd and the music, lyrics and Floors way of singing made me utterly emotional, I started to cry. To me the song shows how random this life here on Earth is, how little it needs to be taken away, how much only a small thing matters and can swoop the entire spieces away in a seconds and where we are going right now towards extinction if we continue as we are. Life is fragile and should be cherished. ❤️

Great reaction, and yeah this song is beautiful but I do think it's a bit of a grower. The video makes me cry too. This album in general makes me want to be a better earth citizen, better sibling to our kin (that is, other humans, other animals, the plants, minerals, and cosmos...). Gorgeous and powerful piece of art.

  • @npinjest7779
    @npinjest7779 3 года назад +3

I wonder if you are recalling Music, just not the vocals: in the intro, once the tribal drumming recedes, a minimal synth emerges, just like at the start of Procession. Vocal melody that follows might not be spot on, but just as delicate. Overall similar effect, I think. That said, when I first heard the start of Procession, my mind went to JM Jarre, that early Euro ambient electronica sound... still not 100% it's for a good reason, but there it was, and I do like that vibe. Procession seems to be a "love it - don't care for it" kind of song, not sure anyone really hates it...but when it connects, it gets in there...

  • @MADNarrativeFlow
    @MADNarrativeFlow 3 года назад +1

Lyrically, this is one of my favorite songs, especially as a writer myself. The point of view is from someone looking at the rise of life and humanity, talking about the inevitable end of humanity, just like humanity has ended so many other species. Procession is the funeral procession for humanity. Listen to the song again with that in mind. Note the point of view of the speaker and power of the message when taken from that point of view. It changed everything for me with this song once I caught on.

I get your thoughts about the endangered animals and what we do to the earth and all that - Its just heartwrecking 😢 (But I love how more and more musicians/bands also point that out to society, like Serj Tankian and Linkin Park back then) Sometimes I even fear the future, but I always say to myself, that I won't loose hope and that I will do what I can do to change it to the better 😃🍀 Talk about future: its great to see you all doing great and say hi to your two adorable girls from germany ❤ so cuuuute 😍

This song is a huge message. At the end you realize it's sung by whatever we evolve into in the far far future. That part really grabs me. They asked Tuomas what song he liked best when it comes to Floor's addition to it. He said that in Procession, her voice really moved him. This song may not be one to rock out to. Imo it's all about the message. I think I stared at the wall for 10 minutes after I first heard it. The blue-throated macaw is in this video. Not long ago its cousin the blue or hyacinth macaw (the birds that were the inspiration for animated movie Rio) went extinct. Rhinos nearly extinct. There are only two white rhinos left in the world and both are female. Extinction is part of nature, but not like this. Humans are way too greedy and cause extinction. That's not nature, that's... genocide.

Well, I sang metal songs to the baby girl I babysat (is that even the right time form, it sounds sooo wrong ^^') as a teen and she loved it, too. Maybe babies and kids are just not as prejudiced towards music as adults and grown ups are and feel the inert musicality that often comes with these bands, rather than just hearing noise and anger which others outside the scene often hear in the music that I love so much :)

This song was one of my favorites from the get go...but I’m a biology nerd so I got the references like Father Pikaia and the nautilus and the book of Darwin “The Origin of Species” (ok I had to translate that one to make sure). To me this is a song about the evolution of life on Earth (initially just plants then animals then the evolution into Homo sapiens and their inevitable demise (the cracked TV screen and almost a Planet of the Apes feel). Oh...and I tear up over those damn Sarah McLachlan commercials too. Hate those things. Makes me so angry how people treat animals in that way. Hope you’re enjoying fatherhood my man 🤘

Listen to other Nightwish albums in order. Tuomas includes subtle references to other songs, but not always the same key, rhythm, pitch, etc
If you don’t go nuts for Tribal, I’d be very surprised
Just a confirmation: do disc 2 all at once
As for other bands to react to whenever:
Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Dr. Butcher/Jon Oliva’s Pain, Chris Caffery, Circle II Circle, Machines Of Grace, and Archon Angel

The whole album - there is a red line on the album, you recognize or continue the journey - you get that feeling. And of course Tuomas didn't do that on purpose..... 🙄 😂
This one - Floor's voice - you both hear and feel the sorrow, despair, passion and emotion. I partly agree with Tuomas on that's the best performance by Floor on the album - but then "How is the Heart" and "Shoemaker" - her performances on these are just as phenomenal - so..
It's simply a masterpiece of an album.

That song is something else, feel so helpless everytime I listen to it, humanity, at times, is a fucking cancer (but could be something else entirely, if we got our shit together).
On another note, you'll have a blast with Tribal, and the best one, to me, is Endlessness, I really think you'll be blown away man...

You should really have watched the short videos the bandmembers made of every song, they are great. This song has similarities with The Poet And The Pendulum...if you listen to the last keyboard part Tuomas playes in TPATP it is exactly the same as the last keyboard part is this song, but in an other tone, but it is the same melodie exactly. Could only be a few minutes on your chat, but can wait for Tribal, check out Kai's short video of the song Tribal and also Markos video before you do Endlessness. Nice seing your beautiful girls :)

A couple of people think this is the weakest song on the album. For me it is rather the opposite:
Musically one of the most beautiful Nightwish songs ever, but from the story and emotion just the opposite. A distracting and also fascinating contrast.
Beside that Tuomas said, that this was probably the best ever matching of Floors singing with the story.
I love it! And I am sad. Always at the same time.

I was suspicious as fuck, but I didn't fully get the april fools until you said the drummer looks like Dave Grohl. At which point I just broke out laughing because of how obvious it should of been to me from the beginning xD

The intro was inspired by Stranger Things. That why it may sounds familiar 😄

This is a pretty song and of course the imagery is significant. It is probably my least favorite song on the album, but I still like it a lot.
