I moved to Rugeley from Erdington, Birmingham in 1968 after I bought my house - There was a lady in one of the bars in the town - who used to make up her face in the colours and shape of a peacock - this was in 1968/69
Used to go Rugley Town as a kid in 80s/90s when it had a cinema, loads of shops like Woolies (Uncle always treated us there) love that place. My mum was born there.
As a kid growing up in the 1970s and 80s, the town was always full of life and bustling atmosphere and energy... it saddens me now to see it like a ghost town , ...sign of the Times, but rugeley years ago was a great place , have many happy memories growing up there...
Hey interesting video, pity you never looked around the area properly as you missed loads of good stuff..... Also the 'church' was apart of the town hall, they wanted to keep that one part as the rest of the building was demolished.

The clock tower is a part of the old town hall buddy
I bought my first house in Rugeley, 1968 - I left in 1971 for Cambridge and later London and never went back
Thank you for the comments.

That clock was part of the Market Hall!
My Uncle cleans the streets of Rugley Town. Dead proud of him. Been on news and local paper served community for decades. Grandad was a miner too.
