"Don’t ever take things personally because the things that people do and say is a projection of their own reality and their own life. If anyone calls you a bad name or insult you about the way you look or certain things, it’s probably because that person feels insecure about those things about themselves. If you’re not kind to yourself of course you’re not gonna be kind to others"✨💕 Well THAT changed my life
Amy, I know this is probably random as hell, but I just wanted to let you know that I really look up to you. You have achieved so many things in life at this age and you seem to be so down to earth. I appreciate the time and effort you put into making these videos. Keep up the good work😘
I'm not even joking you- my heart is so full of gratitude I'm starting to tear up right now. Thank you so much for your lovely words, beyond appreciating my style or my editing, this is the type of shit that really speaks to my soul. Thank you thank you for watching and commenting and supporting xx
Super refreshing to finally see a beauty "guru" not talking about just superficial things for once. Thank you for this video - I found this super calming and I wish we'll see a second part for this very soon!! 💛✨
i turned off notifications and deleted most of my social media apps after learning about the reward centres in our brains and how small things like receiving likes/getting tagged in things/etc stimulate the same pathways that cause addictive behaviours! i definitely feel more present and also less like i'm "performing" for the people on my social medias. so yeah super agree with what you're saying!
I'm always stressed and anxious so I tried to delete social media apps and turn off notifications and I totally agree with you, it definitely made me more present and less stressed. Great tips for everyone who wants to be more in the present :)
Felt the same awakening last year and my life has been much better ever since, I think everything comes from being grateful, with everyone and for everything :) Thank you so much Amy, been a subscriber since the longest time and evolving with you :) Love from Barcelona!!
I've rewatched this video multiple times but it's still on my Watch Later playlist. I genuinely appreciate your videos and this is one of them that spoke to me. Hearing your voice talking about these things is really amazing, and your part about transitions is so relatable. I personally hate change, but the way you spoke about it is very encouraging. Thanks for being a phenomenal content creator, I am excited for your channel to grow and for your knowledge to spread more. I love you Amy!
Also shoutout to the part of deleting social media and removing push notifications. I've done that starting last month, and deleting Snapchat was an amazing choice and I'm so happy being aware and more present.
I honestly do not know how many times I tried to leave comments on your vids but couldn't just because I was not good at putting my thoughts into words. You're my role model Amy. You are amazing. I'm also 22 but somehow I always feel like you're my older sister who teaches me a lot of things. You inspire me so much! Lots of love from Tokyo xx
YES, The Four Agreements is such a good read!!! I agree with your review on it. Also I really want to read the other two you recommended, especially The book of Awakening. I'm also down with Oprah's book club!!
This video couldnt have come at a better time! I was literally looking up self-discovery books half an hour before this was uploaded. Just graduated from uni and having such a hard time figuring out what to do. You're one of the few youtubers I find super authentic, keep doing what you do girl! 😘
you don't know how inspiring you are . i really appreciate everything you put .... i wish you can do a video about toxic relationships ... i've been waiting for that for so long ...cause i'm going through a lot of shit this days
I cant explain the joy i have since finding your channel! I have a lot of common in you, ive had to cut out toxic friends and I love spirituality and self care so basically just LOVE you girl!
i really feel like your personality speaks to my soul, in every single video you make me feel like i'm your friend and we're just talking freely about things .. and i love it
Wow those pimple stickers... 😯also, officially turning off my notifications after watching this. It's true that the second you hear that little ding, no matter what you're doing, your mind is subconsciously conditioned to responding to it.
I really adore you're talky videos like this and the a.m. you're perspective is always interesting and I always feel like you are being authentic and honest, I would love to see more content like this
I feel like you're my big wise sis! Please keep up the book recommendations! I've gotten back into readings because of some of your recommendations and it's been so game changing! THANK YOU! Also, I think you would enjoy Girls Will Be Girls by Emer O'Toole!
I would recommend The Celestine Prophecy it is a fiction adventure based on real ideas. There are 8 life changing insights. There is a second book that is more like the four agreements non fiction version called the Celestine something or other
I ordered the Book of Awakening from amazon! I'm so out from my zone these days, I can't find purpose in anything I do and plus I'm physically sick and going thru a flu BUT basically feeling crap. I can't wait to star reading it, I really hope it brings me back on the road because I'm tired of feeling like this. Thank you for sharing these! Love you x
Omg, Amy. I've only recently started watching your vids after your collab with Jenn which resonated/10 with me........... ANYWAY, I LOVE SCHOOL OF LIFE TOO. My favourite is about eudaimonia, "Why ‘Happiness’ is a useless word - and an alternative". Feels.
bought all the books you mentioned in the video. been wanting to get back into reading and this couldn't have come at a better time! can't wait to get into these reads and get some feels.
you changed my life amy ugh love your videos and these sit downs. I love challenging what i know and learning new tips and tricks to better my life. had to come back to this video and comment cause these tips up-ed my game drastically.
I read the Four Agreements in the summer of 2016 and I really loved it. I want to read it again because I feel like I don't really remember to use it in my daily life. I want to read those other two books you mentioned because I like those types. I love this video but I usually love all of your vids because they're great. I love how besides talking about beauty and fashion you also go deeper and talk about what's going on in the world and personal development! Been watching for about 3 years now or maybe more. ❤️
Love love The School of Life. It's produced (mostly narrated) by Philosopher, Author Alain de Botton. You should check out their series of books too! They are up your alley xx Love from Hong Kong
Great concept for a video series! I prefer this thoughtful approach to recommendations as to monthly favourites, which can tend to be a bit more superficial. I gained a lot from your insights and feel inspired. Not a bad way to start my Sunday. Cheers!
I love that you mentioned being present and in the moment, definitely something I need to work on in this digital age! ❤ will definitely check out the book recommendations!
Yes! I'm so happy you could gain something from this :-) Being present is something that I've really struggled with- causing major anxiety and periods of sadness (not depression though), so I had to find a (small) cure!!
Amy you are so special ❤️ thank you for sharing with us your thoughts. You are such an inspiration for me, you are only one year older than me but I think you are sooooo wise and I really think you are a kind and smart person. You make me want to be a better person. THANK YOU 🌹 (and also sorry for my English, I'm from Italy 🇮🇹 🙏🏼)
The Four Agreements has a great message. Life is a journey of self development, and gaining knowledge through books like these is a great way to continue your growth. Have you read "You are a Badass" by Jen Sincero? I would highly recommend it to you.
I think you would really enjoy the app called 'Moment' in the paid version it include a phone boot camp that helps train us to live in the moment and stop using our phones as security blankets in public, and wasting time with them when we are bored. It really changed my life. :)
thank you for the great recommendations! I'm not sure if you'd like this podcast, but since you mentioned podcasts in this video, I would recommend S-Town if you haven't listened to it yet. it was just an emotional rollercoaster and absolutely amazing!
OMG😘 I am so happy to know that one of my fav youtuber read our his holiness book and I know you will get so much positivity and compassionate out of his book.. I always loved your video..#Much love ❤️
I got rid of my social media apps too. I wanted to do a sort of cleanse. I was on my phone way too much, even when I was out. I got rid of everything but Messenger. I read The Alchemist after a long time of hearing about how good it was and while it was an enjoyable book, I didn't find it to be that great either. You're so inspirational and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you grow in the last year!!! Love your reading recs! I feel like you're a soul sistaaaaa. 💕💕💕💕💕
Loving this segment so far ! :D and I totally agree with you on social media platforms. Although all I have is RUclips and a very inactive Linked-in, I find myself checking RUclips multiple times a day to see if there is anything new. But it's been a couple of good years since I let go of other social media platforms and I can say that I am so much more aware of what's around me and honestly, life is so much better without them. I would really like to see your hair in a bun. I think it'll look really cute. You always have it down giiirl ! it'd be nice to switch it up sometimes, especially in photos & videos.
amy I love love love you you're such an inspiration in everything you do! you are so authentic and hardworking and confident I just want to be like you :)
Hey Amy! Thanks so much for the recommendation and giving your honest opinion! If you haven't read All About Love by bell hooks, I'd highly recommend it! It's about reunderstanding love and self-love, also written by an amazing womxn of color feminist!
I know you WILL achieve you goal by the end of 2017 and i've been watching you for a while now and i think that maybe you should do more collabs with other youtubers i think it helped a lot of small/medium channels grow faster. But yeah your videos are great, your style is great i think maybe try to do more lookbooks (i know these one take time but everybody loves them) even tho you're already pretty consistent and also more hauls, yours are always super good :) Good luck
I don't usually comment, but I just wanted to say thank you for this video. With finals and college, I feel like I'm in a daze and looking for some books to help. Thanks for your recommendations and I will definitely check them out. Have a great day. ❤️🤗
Ah wow I'm so happy to hear this. College is a rough time but I hope you can find some time to de-stress and wind down. I hope you enjoy these books xx
I really loved this Amy, those books are all up my alley so I'll def check them up! :) I've been in a whirlwind of confusion lately so this video is just what I needed ❤️❤️ Xx
The School of Life is by Alain de Botton and a group of others! He's an amaazing philosopher. They have workshops and talks as well. && make more favourites like this! So insightful. 🌈💕
If you like CosRx acne patches, you'll probably like NexCare acne patches even more! You can get them from Walgreens or Amazon and they are super amazing. I find them much more effective than the cosRx ones
School of Life is also my fav channel. Recently discover the creator is Alain de Botton, the author of The architecture of Happiness and the Courses of love. I discovered this when I was watching his speech in a youtube video. I just found his voice so familiar. So I go on research finally find out he is the voice that I listen to at lease once a week XD! Love your blog, I hit subscribe d in like 10 sec. Now this is the fifth video of you today.
I feel you, girl, it'll take a while, but read some books, turn off your phone, go out for a walk (in the mountains or somewhere nature-y)! That always helps me find a bit of clarity.
Hi Amy! I loved this video:) I was wondering if you had a link to the pimple stickers lol. Also followed you on Twitter recently and am so glad i did. Much love
OMG you'll probably loveee The Happiness Hypothesis book. It's part of my top 3 books EVER to recommend in the nonfiction category. Really hope you check it out.
I was waiting for a long time for a video about ur fav books because you inspire me as as person and I already read one book that you recommended (milk&honey) and I loved it! kisses from Belgium!
Amy!! The man who writes and narrates the videos for The School of Life is an author called Alain de Botton. He has written several books, all of them wonderful mixes of fiction and philosophy -- I recommend Essays in Love :-)
Girl, start using Differin for which you can buy at the drugstore. I'd use it on the nights you're not using the serum. I say use the serum twice a week and regret differin the other days and the occasional free day. You'll see the comodones come to the surface and eventually poppable. I find that mine aren't even bumps, you just can see the white underneath and you jab and poke all you want but nothing happens. If after a while of using differin that you can eventually empty it out. Serums help A LOT but differin helps a lot. Check out Caroline Hiron's description how it works. Try it, it's cheap, so why not.
you have to check out meditations by marcus aurelius! "this is not only one of greatest books ever written but perhaps the only book of its kind. Just imagine: the private thoughts of the most powerful man in the world, admonishing himself on how to be better, more just, more immune to temptation, wiser. It is the definitive text on self-discipline, personal ethics, humility, self-actualization and strength. If you read it and aren’t profoundly changed by it, it’s probably because as Aurelius says “what doesn’t transmit light creates its own darkness.”" xxx
HAHAH IF YOU JUST WATCHED THIS VIDEO FOR FUN! Lol, it was fun but i have a hella lot of things i wanna try out for 2017!! :) Also, need that makeup cleanser!
All the stuff I've been feeding my soul. (And, like, a bar of soap.)
That's why I like you Amy!! I mean, I looooove you! Please keep sharing with us your learning progress!
you should check out "The Essence of Self-realisation by Paramhansa Yogananda"
"Don’t ever take things personally

If anyone calls you a bad name or insult you about

Great concept for a video series! I prefer this thoughtful approach to recommendations as to monthly favourites, which can tend to be a bit more superficial.
I gained a lot from your insights and feel inspired. Not a bad way to start my Sunday. Cheers!
You are very lovely and hardworking person and thank you for always working so hard and just sharing yourself with all of us. 💗
You're gonna make me cry!! Thank you love.
I just ordered The Four Agreements on amazon because of you! I hope that it changes my life as much as it changed yours 😊

You're welcome ;)
i love the school of life!! and i love you!! and this video!!! so many exclamation marks keep making more of these videos please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got rid of my social media apps too. I wanted to do a sort of cleanse. I was on my phone way too much, even when I was out. I got rid of everything but Messenger. It helped in a strange way that my phone battery is really dying so I don't use apps anyway - I'm looking at you snapchat, draining my battery like crazy. It does feel better. Instagram feels like it would be the worst thing for me so I never jumped on that.
I read The Alchemist after a long time of hearing about how good it was and while it was an enjoyable book, I didn't find it to be that great either. Might have to do with the fact that it kept involving God so it didn't really resonate with me as I'm an Atheist. One of my new year's resolutions was to read more because since I started uni two years ago, I kinda fell off the wagon and stopped reading since uni involved so many academic readings. I actually resented reading. Now that I'm back to reading, I can't believe I thought that.
I'm going to check out that podcast as well as those books. I've been listening to RUclipsr podcasts/ interviews a lot because I use public transport to and from uni and I like things a little more light-hearted.
I've been watching The School of Life for a while now. It's quite philosophical. I don't agree with everything that Alain says and you can see that in the comments but there are some great discussions there. Would recommend getting his books. I wouldn't say this will change your life but just for educational purposes, I love CrashCourse. There's bound to be a topic that interests you and it's never a bad thing to learn something new.
You can use AHA/ BHA every night although if you've just started on acids or have sensitive skin, would not recommend. Wouldn't really recommend doing both every day either. Usually take turns between AHA and BHA with a day of rest after both i.e. the third day. 2-3 times a week is fine. Check out r/asianbeauty or r/skincareaddiction! P.S. You didn't include the CosRX Pimple Master Patch in the description.
I loved this, can't wait for part 2!
You're so inspirational and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you grow in the last year!!! Love your reading recs! I feel like you're a soul sistaaaaa. 💕💕💕💕💕

Although all I have is RUclips and a very inactive Linked-in, I find myself checking RUclips multiple times a day to see if there is anything new. But it's been a couple of good years since I let go of other social media platforms and I can say that I am so much more aware of what's around me and honestly, life is so much better without them.

Currently in that weird-limbo-slowly-sinking phase 🤔😔 zzz
I feel you, girl, it'll take a while, but read some books, turn off your phone, go out for a walk (in the mountains or somewhere nature-y)! That always helps me find a bit of clarity.

Can you do a what's on my iPhone now that you have deleted your social media?
Amy!! The man who writes and narrates the videos for The School of Life is an author called Alain de Botton. He has written several books, all of them wonderful mixes of fiction and philosophy -- I recommend Essays in Love :-)
Where's my push notifications ion button! I need that!

hi cousin :-)
I adore the book of life 💕
Such a good video 💗💗
Girl, start using Differin for which you can buy at the drugstore. I'd use it on the nights you're not using the serum. I say use the serum twice a week and regret differin the other days and the occasional free day. You'll see the comodones come to the surface and eventually poppable. I find that mine aren't even bumps, you just can see the white underneath and you jab and poke all you want but nothing happens. If after a while of using differin that you can eventually empty it out. Serums help A LOT but differin helps a lot. Check out Caroline Hiron's description how it works. Try it, it's cheap, so why not.
I agree! it cleared my skin and now I use it when I get hormonal acne, good recommendation!
Try olive oil & dishwasher detergent for your makeup brushes and beauty blender :) x
If you're into channelings and metaphysical stuff, I really liked Jane Roberts' The Eternal Validity of the Soul
you have to check out meditations by marcus aurelius!
I really enjoy this type of video Amy keep them up! :)
She's so cute and her channel is growing so fast and I'm here with my 804 subscribers 😂
Hey Amy, loved this video! I love School of Life as well. Does anyone know if the cleansing bar could be used to clean a beautyblender as well?
deepakris yes! I use it all the time to clean my beauty blender :)
