Dont ever apologize for acting angry (or any emotion) BTS made the song/mv to call forward those emotions! And if this situation doesnt call for a loud FUCK THEM! then I dont know what does

I've seen this explanation a few times and I cry every time. I have three children and can't wrap my mind around the fact that these children were sacrificed in order to cover up illegal activities. Then those families were told to get over it, just forget it. The scale of this tragedy and corruption is overwhelming.

There are documentaries on this. They could have saved most if not all of the passengers. The president/government stopped people who were there to help with BS excuses and left them on that slowly sinking ship. I recommend one called Diving Bell or The Diving Bell, I can't remember the right name at the moment as it has been a long time now. It's on RUclips. But only watch it if/when your heart can handle it.

Corruption is everywhere. It's about power and money. They took advantage of the kid's obedience so they could save their own skin. Told the kids to stay so they could live. Some of the crew did remain to try to save the kids but they didn't make it out. Sacrificing the youth like in snowpiercer and omelas for their own happiness. It's terrible. I think the captain was given a life sentence. The goverment didn't want to look weak and refused help. A US Navy ship offered help because they had gear and experienced rescue divers but they were also turned away. I think one of the reasons it is so sad because it was unnecessary.😔

The captain did not want to worry about them rescuing so many children first so he told them to stay where they were, whilst he disguised himself as a civilian and was one of the first to be rescued.then he did not tell anybody all the children were told to stay in the cabin
If the children were visable it would have been harder to ignore them. The coastguard were told to wait for orders that never came. A huge American ship with specialist equipment happened to be there just in international waters waiting for permission to help. It was not given.
RM has a 148 IQ and his signature is all over this. We should note that BTS company was barely recovering from the brink of bankruptcy so that represented a huge financial sacrifice for them. They continue to be active philanthropists as a group nd on top of that as individuals.

💜🙏Thank you for sharing your heartfelt reaction to Spring Day..... I want to share with you a comment to another reactor from a survivor of the Sewol disaster.. I would like you to hear from him just how BTS has healed him through this song and the messages they have: His name is Chilo Abellon - and this is his public comment in full - unedited - from 3 years ago..........
"I remembered when they rescuing us its so tragic when you see your classmates/friends stuck asking and hearing them scream for help, the screaming and voices of people asking for help while the ships is sinking the scream slowly vanished. When you can’t help them because the water got deeper and deeper while they rescue us slowly. The time that i got rescued only 3 of us survived, my two classmates and i in our and my other classmates stuck in the ships hoping they’re still alive but when the time i heard the news that they’re all gone. It slowly sinking in that all my friends and the other class are gone and will never comeback. I feel guilty when I survived, I’m thinking am i lucky? Or is it not right that i was alive and not them? Do i deserve to live?.
Feeling depressed, having su!cidal thoughts, every night you can’t sleep because i keep hearing those scream a scream people needing a help but you can’t because your weak and got broken bones. Everything time I struggled to see what life is all about, thinking what if all of my friends survived and they with me survived. It would be dream to see that happening. I struggled to make a good life that i can be proud of because of that incident happened but when i found out about BTS my life changed me because of their music they changed my life the way that i can be proud of and I started loving myself by little by little and finally the day I realize life is so short and the incident happened 7years ago impacted my life to be a better person and all of our hardships are just a big task for us to make them done and the outcome will be 100times better the incident happened 7years ago thought me so many things.
The biggest one is don’t forget they might be gone but don’t forget them put them on your heart and like life all of your hardship and your mistakes will not lose or fail you it’s always a win win situation because we always learn from them. Spring day is my number 1 fav song of BTS because I reminisce the things happened 7years ago while watching the mv and it always help me to keep going in life and do not give up on things that i want to achieve
    - My name is Chilo one of the survivors of the sewol ferry incident."
I truly hope he does not mind me passing on his public comment - but this best shows the power of BTS message.
The worst thing about the disaster - the captain and most of the crew fled the ship in the morning 9.35 - the ferry did not sink until the night - they left the warning to "not move and stay still" playing on a loop through the onboard broadcast on the ship. Only the children that disobeyed the warning survived. The others drowned as they were so ingrained to listen to authority.
The civilian boats that attempted to rescue people were stopped by the coast guard as people would discover the boat was illegally overloaded.
Parents on the shore were receiving desperate calls and texts from their children begging for help. And the coastguard did nothing. The only rescue the coastguard made that day was the captain and crew... The people that got rescued were rescued by fishing vessels that got there first before they were stopped...
3 years the ferry lay at the bottom as the Govt would not raise it for fear of discovering the truth.... They found video footage taken on mobile phones that were recovered of children wishing their families goodbye.
3 crew members stayed behind to try and help the children, they all lost their lives, along with one of the rescue divers. Also, one of the civilian rescue divers later committed su!cide after having to recover so many childrens bodies, knowing that he could have saved them but was forcibly stopped.
As a parent, I could not comprehend having to live through such a thing. Horrific that your own government would perpetrate and then cover up such an incident... jailing dissenters for protesting. It was proven that there were high officials with financial interests in the ferry. The president colluded with them to bury the truth and hamper investigations... 10000 people in the public eye (reporters, artists, etc) put on a Govt blacklist for speaking about it.
BTS went and paid respects to the parents of the victims in 2014 when the tragedy occurred. No Cameras - No fanfair - just doing what was right...They also donated approx $100,000 (that year they only earnt $300,000 - they gave 1/3 of their earnings) to help the parents in their fight for justice.... We only found out about the donation years later as one of the parents was sick of all the hatred BTS was always getting and wanted others to know what decent and good people they are.
The MV, The album cover, The choreography all relate back to the Sewol. But the song itself is about missing anyone you love and are separated from. They were singing Spring Day during the panademic as the world was longing for a spring day. Spring Day has never left the music charts. To this day, it is right that this song is still in the top 100 charts.... 7 years later, as this song still speaks to people everywhere.
Sorry this is so long - but I really wanted to pass his comment and information to you relating to your Spring Day reaction video.... with posting your reaction you have helped keep the memory of Sewol alive and maybe others who do not know of it will learn of it.
RM and Jin have both since confirmed that the MV relates to the tragedy.
Thank you for sharing your journey, and helping to spread BTS message... Sending greetings and love from Australia.... BORAHAE💜 #WeNeverWalkAlone

So sorry for making you sit through the video but as an ARMY and a mother i think it is an important aspect of what sets BTS and Big Hit apart from other KPop groups of that time. Their lyrics and MVs speak about really important issues.
As a mother, I can't even begin or want to imagine the suffering of losing my 2 daughters over some stupid, ridiculous politics. I am lucky enough to live in the UK. There is corruption, I am not naive, but not to the level of other countries.
Thank you for sharing your reaction, it is hard to watch in privacy so I can't imagine how hard it is to record your reaction and share it, so sincere thank you. Let's continue to keep Spring Day in the charts so the victims are never forgotten.

Tbh, I think you'd have to be a robot not to be affected by this video. I get emotional and angry every time I see it. If it's any consolation the ship's crew members were later convicted of various crimes ranging from violating marine laws and abandoning ship to homicide. The captain for example is currently serving a life sentence for homicide. The ferry company's CEO was found shot in the head, presumably by his own hands.
    A few other important points:
    - Three crew members actually chose to stay and rescue the kids but lost their lives in doing so. I think it's important to separate them from the rest of the crew and remember them with the honour they deserve.
    💜💜💜
    - Two volunteer recovery divers also lost their lives in the aftermath; one in an underwater accident and one by his own hands due to the horrors he witnessed while down there.
    💜💜
    - It wasn't the usual captain of the ship working that day. He had raised concerns about the safety onboard and was removed because of it. So the company knew but didn't care about the dangers, only the money.
    - We sometimes forget that South Korea is a very young democracy (since 1987) and there is definitely a lot of remnants of the oppressive past still at play in their politics. BTS have managed to walk that fine line where they address injustice and serious issues because they do it in such a subtle, artistic manner that they've gotten away with it. In other instances though they've definitely been used as political pawns and it clearly showed.
    - What truly breaks my heart about this explanation video though is the thought of the fact that footage and photos from inside the ferry were taken by the students and sent from their mobile phones shortly before they perished. 💔
It's a difficult video to watch for sure but it really shows that BTS are not the superficial stereotype of a "boyband". They have a clear message and are not afraid to take riscs to get their point across.
On a "lighter" note: During the pandemic BTS gave Spring Day an entirely second purpose as well - they used it as a symbol of the sadness they felt from missing the live interactions with ARMY. As they (remotely) performed it over and over it became a symbol of hope and the love between BTS and ARMY. Evidence of that? The day the last of them enlisted in 2023 this seven year old song became no. 1 on ITunes in many countries all around the world as ARMYs turned to the song for hope and comfort.
    💜

Now you know why this song is still on the charts. One thing you will learn about BTS videos is that everything in them is intentionally there. Nothing is included by accident. Their songs typically have a lot of meaning, you have to take the time to watch the explanation videos. As a parent, this video made me sick. The United States had a ship nearby and offered to help but the South Korean government said no. What type of person/people can do this to innocent children/people?

Keep in mind how young the members of BTS were when Spring Day was released. They have always had a strong moral compass & a great empathy for others. I am a great grandmother who finds these 7 young men are my heroes.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

N sei explicar justamente pq é loucura... Me sentia morta sem tocar ela, me afogando, sem ar, tremia, congelava, pensava em me desviver. Q horas eu acordei? Dei mama? Troquei ela? Eu comi hoje? Pq eu n me lembro?" Esquecia horas, dias e do nada lembrava q estava viva. "Eu estou ficando louca".
No fim do meu desespero, você é a última razão
Eu queria desaparecer e estava me odiando muito. BTS me salvou sim, e nada muda isso.

If you can stomach it, I suggest watching Rotten Mango's video about the tragedy. The host, Stephanie, gives a more complete version of the happenings at that time (both before, during and after the incident)...she talks about the Korean cultural context, what really led to the sinking, of the actions/inactions of the government, of rescue operations and about some victims in particular (for example: she talks about some of the crew who refused to abandon the ship with the captain). It's a hard watch specially because they show footage that was recovered from inside the ferry (where you hear the kids' reactions to what is happening) and a lot of the families reaction - just like what was being show in this video. Stephanie also talks about the aftermath of all this.
If you really want to understand what happened, I think you should definitely watch it (or react to it if you prefer but it's ok if you don't because it's a hard video to get through).

The message left playing was normal for a sinking where the rescue crews would board the ship and help people escape safely.... people can be sucked under the water if they jump into the sea.... they tell them to stay still, not rock the ship by all rushing to one side... which would have been fine....
    But no rescuers came. 😪
Civilian boats did what they could scooping up any people who ignored the message and managed to jump into the water.
You have to understand these children are taught from birth to listen to authority.... on the footage recovered from the ferry, you can see some of them questioning the message but ultimately they obeyed the order and lost their lives.

Please don't feel bad for how you feel on watching this: you are a human, and a parent. Literally EVERY parent (and human) reacts in a similar way. Even without children, even having watched it several times, I also feel, like you, the rage and the grief.
And as for the way you felt pushed into thoughts of your own country's political issues, that's also human, so don't feel sorry for your openness in sharing those thoughts. While BTS and ARMY are not Political in their aspirations, I believe that the messages are indeed meant to challenge us to consider the realities of our societies. I live in the UK, and while I don't think that we have exactly the same corruption here, there are ample revelations of government awarding huge contracts and literally millions of £ to their personal cronies for goods which were found to be unusable - and that, I believe, will be the very tip of the iceberg.
I think it's probably everywhere, but this example is one of the worst imaginable.
And what if anything is the positive message of Spring Day, and the Explanation?
Well, I think it is like this --
First there is the demonstration of how art can succour an entire nation. Spring Day has remained in the Korean chart ever since its release, and is I believe a universal comfort song in times of emotion. Even I weep every single time I hear it. Throughout the pandemic, BTS made a number of 'short concert ' broadcasts online, and each time Spring Day was prominent because of the comfort it represents for Korean people of all ages, and now for ARMY all around the world.
The other aspect of that art is that the MV is also incredibly layered, subtle and nuanced, but, for those who were there, is perfectly readable. It's an almost perfect example of an underground, covert and clandestine protest which is hard for authorities to challenge. It's a powerful example of one of BTS's strengths: how do you, in an authoritative society, give a message challenging that authority without being shut down? how do you push the boundaries of the establishment without being cancelled? Since June 2013 BTS have been consistently and actively doing this, and their work has grown increasingly subtle and powerful through the years.
The other, and the largest, takeaway from Spring Day and the MV is, for me, hope.
Hope in the actions of those who rescued, or tried to rescue, in those who protested and spoke up, in those who stood up and donated, in those who went against the enormous pressures in order to make changes, and in those who, even though they themselves could do little, supported them with thoughts and prayers, and perhaps most of all hope in those young people who believed that, in time, they can make a better Korea.
I am certain that in your country, too, there is also this kind of hope..

This is an excellent explanation, but in my opinion, she got some things wrong. The cake scene is not a happy one. It mirrors Snowpiercer, where the protagonist confronts the elite on the train and is subsequently attacked. RM's expression says it all. Jin at the bottom of the stairwell is deceased and looking up at his friends growing up. There is a pile of clothes outside the train representing the dead. That one is not a big deal, but should be noted. Italian ARMY did a great job with the clothes pile, the time when communication was cut, and the moment of death. I appreciate that you took this on. My husband can't. 💜

I totally understand corruption that is in control of your country. I grew up in the Philippines, but live now in the US. The corruption in the Philippines is insane as well. I know all about vote buying and the cheating during elections, especially during the Marcos regime. It is very frustrating. And the results affects the innocent, which is painful.

I'm late to this reaction but NEVER apologise for showing righteous anger. Like you I got so angry when I first heard about this that I went in search of documentaries and learned about the actual sinking and what happened. I am still angry to this day years later. The guy dressed in black that you saw being rescues by coastguards was THE CAPTAIN! He and the others with him were the first ones rescued by the coastguards. He disguised himself as a passenger by removing his uniform...Let that one sink in. He also didn't inform anyone that there were still passengers on the ship. As an aside, BTS released a song about anger. About how righteous anger and rage at real issues (like this one and the issues you mentioned in Brazil) are being drowned out by all the unrighteous malicious, spiteful anger nowadays. The song is Ugh if you haven't heard it yet.

4:37 they were smoking while the ship was sinking, which is the issue here. Instead of handing out lifesaving vests or helping others evacuate.
If you want to know more about the tragedy, I HIGHLY recommend watching Rotten Mango’s video story on it. It’s one of the most heartbreaking sinkings recent history, exacerbated by the sheer negligence of the crews no the government.

  • @rdmname
    @rdmname 3 месяца назад

worst thing is, there was an u.s. marine ship closeby, they knew and waited to get permission to help, since they were specialized in sea rescue but the gov. just kept demanding videos of the sinking in a certain quality.
unless they'd receive them, they wouldn't send anyone in.
to me it just sounded like stalling, cause they kept demanding videos.
there was something much bigger going on than just an involvement in making space to carry more cargo/ investment.
meaning, the floors that are usually filled with water in ships were emptied to carry more goods, that's why the ship leaned to the side.

That song connected a lot of Koreans and has never left the Korean charts since release, and now you know why. What I love about BTS is that they're not afraid to stand up for what's right. Im currently fifteen and BTS helped me to learn lot of things of life and this is one of the themes that when i discovered for the first time i had to sit on my bed to ponder and i remember thinking that this causes to empathize and brings a lot of humanity to people because you know sometimes(the most of the times sadly) the world is messed up and the human specie can be evil or blinded by avarice or some other emotion.
