What is the point of the 300 inch wheel base? i understand wanting some extra space for some reefer trailers, but to the point where you have the gap between the sleeper and the air connections, yet having a regular size sleeper. Is there a practical reason or is it just aesthetics?
I was at Peterbilt of Atlanta last week looking at a new 389, and the exhaust was coming out between the frame and the cab. And the drivers side exhaust was a dummy, it was not even connected together under the cab. And I am watching this video and the exhaust is coming from under the frame like my 99 model does and it looks all connected. Why is your trucks different. I know it has something to do with the DEF, but do you special order your trucks that way?
I know this might sound trivial Steve but, the DeF tank is a deal-breaker for me. You see any other design coming from factory, or can you do something like what 12gauge customs did? Your Trucks are sweet, especially the red and white one.
mavis jackson I don't think the factory offers them...yet. I have a split hyd/fuel tank on my Pete but was told it's alot of modification to make the hyd part hold DEF (pump,lines,gauge sending unit, ect). I don't use my hyd part, it's empty, don't run end dump anymore. Not saying it can't be done, but it costs $$$.
mavis jackson that DEF fluid has alot of weird parameters. 1 it can freeze if not in bulk application, 2 it's a mild corrosive because of the urea cemical added, 3 it's the biggest crock of sh#t that has been forced on the trucking industry, oh and 4 it's harmful if swallowed... duh!
Where would you run the lines , filter, and all that other stuff. And the thermal expansion of def when close to freezing would be harder to control with an aluminum tank. But I like that idea The fuel at return temps would effectively warm the barrier between the two. But what could you coat the inside with?

Other than that, I agree with you on it being a waste. I may or may not have ruined a pair of work pants when I was the newbie. lol

Why when Cummins show video of their engines, it is very well painted. But when I see a presentation, of a new truck that's for sell. The engine after it is completely build, it looks like it was dip in a pool of red paint. Look like nothing in Cummins video PRESENTATION

You were looking at a short hood 389, that is how the exhaust comes on that model.
