Neil Peart is considered by many people to be the best drummer of all time! You need to check out Neil Peart's drum solo live in Frankfurt and you will see why he is considered to be the best! Neil has been with Rush from the beginning, with the exception of their first album, Geddy Lee(bass and lead vocals) and Alex Lifeson(guitars) has been in Rush since its inception! Neil also wrote the lyrics to their songs as well! People are surprised when they only 3 guys in the band with this powerful sound! I strongly urge you to watch Neil's drum solo live in Frankfurt, your jaws will be open in amazement, I guarantee it! R.I.P. Neil Peart! I've listened to Rush since 1980! After you check out Neil's solo check out Spirit Of Radio from the Permanent Waves album! I hope you check out more from all three of these geniuses that is Rush! Thank you!
Legendary here in Toronto Canada where Rush is from!!! 🔥🔥🔥 seen them a few times in concert! I was always a huge deal when they would come home to play!
All 3 of them are some of the best at their instrument. The drummer, Neil Peart writes the majority of their lyrics. Best band to see live...watch a concert video, it's epic.
It's so much fun watching the enjoyment you guys get from reacting to these great classics. Rush is probably the only band where each member is in the GOAT conversation for their respective instrument. Alex Lifeson is probably Rocks' most underrated guitarist.
Thanks for featuring my all-time favorite band. Three of the greatest prog rock musicians to ever grace the stage. I noticed you couldn't resist air drumming! I can't either. Neil was certainly one of the most impactful drummers ever. The logo on his bass drum is the same as on their album 2112. Side 1 was a theme about freedom from tyranny.
As someone who has listened to their entire catalogue from to back at least 30 times and worships the ground Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart walk on, all I can say is that you’re in for a treat. One of the most consistently amazing bands to ever release music. They have as close to a perfect catalogue as a band can get.
Spirit of Radio, 2112 so many great songs! This band has been world famous for decades! Millions of hardcore, lifelong fans for a reason. These guys are players! Some of the very best musicians you will ever hear, guaranteed.
Rush are my musical heros. As amazing as they sound on studio cuts that ere even better live. I saw them live in the early 90s. Hands down the best live act I have ever seen.
I always regret never seeing Neil Peart live. I’ve attended many drum clinics and drum festivals and never managed to attend one that was able to snag him. All my drummer friends love him.
The sign on the drums is not a star, but a star man. Oh and by the way the drummer is not only one of if not the best rock drummer ever but he also wrote all the bands lyrics.
I have a lot of catching up to do on your videos, but all of you seem like you'd be great fathers -- when you have a child or children. You guys are thinkers. It's great to see young men look at new things and hear new things -- and analyze it in real time. Good stuff for sure.
RUSH IS INSANE! The fact that it takes only 3 people to create everything you hear is insane... Their Bassist Geddy Lee also sings lead vocals, plays keyboard, and even uses pedals to play keyboard while doing both bass and vocals at times... Then there's "The Professor" Neil Peart, who wrote their lyrics, and is one of the best drummers of all time. Check out Neil Peart's Drum Solo in Frankfurt if you want to truly have your mind BLOWN!
The starman logo (not anything to do with satan) appeared first inside the record/album of 2112. Hugh Syme, creator of many Rush albums, started in a 1993 interview that the starman did not begin as an identity factor of the band, that it just got adopted. This logo appears on Neil Peart's bass drum.It was also voted to be Rush's mascot. This logo really helps people to recognize Rush.
The symbol on the drum means man against the establishment. The red star symbolizes the establishment. If you want find out where that came from listen to 2112 which will blow your mind! This song will give you the meaning of this symbol.
If you like the drums in this, check out the tool video for "Pneuma" with the drum camera. It is a live performance but the whole video is focused on the drums. AMAZING!!!
The drummer, Neil Peart, was one of the greatest drummers in history. Look him up Cartier family😉 Lol! One of Rush's greatest songs. Love your videos. Glad you guys aren't afraid to review stuff outside your box.
watching you guys watch/hear this remi d's me of some rap tune I heard years ago, I was SHOCKED by the lyrics, not offended, in awe. my point here is this.... it warms my soul to see these guys "get it" I'm quite probably as white honkey as one can be I relish other cultures (English can't cook for shit) and and music wouldn't be what it has become without SHARING, LEARNING, QUESTIONING and just patiently listening
This song appears in Rob Zombie's Halloween. It's playing during the truck stop scene when Michael kills the guy in the bathroom and takes his jumpsuit and boots. It's in many other movies as well but that was the one that came to mind. That is actually a pentacle, which is a pentagram inside a circle, and has been used as a satanist symbol though it is usually inverted or upside down. The points of the pentagram represent earth, air, fire, water and spirit. The circle around it represents the universe. It is a symbol of faith for Wiccans and some Pagan's. It is also recognized by the US Government as a faith symbol that can now be put onto soldiers headstones in government cemeteries such as Arlington.
Great reaction! You have just begun your journey down the Rush rabbit hole. If you want to get a good sample of their body of work, you need to check out the following: YYZ Live in Rio (instrumental) Neil Peart drum solo live in Frankfurt Spirit of Radio Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left Working Man La Villa Strangiato (instrumental)
Also known as the 'Man in the Star' logo, the Starman emblem was adopted by Rush fans as a logo since its first appearance in the gatefold of 2112. Peart described the Starman in an interview with Creem magazine: All [the naked man] means is the abstract man against the masses. The red star symbolizes any collectivist mentality.
Go figure that when this generations young adults hear the city of Toronto right away you hear Justin Bieber and Drake. Lol. I'm glad to see and hear enjoying music from RUSH, because Rush is undeniably Toronto's band. Always has and will be.
Rush was probably the best power trio ever. I was inspired by Neal Peart to start drumming. I’ve been drumming for 45 years. Check out These other Rush songs. Witch-hunt,and Mystic Rythems . 4:25
First of all Neal Pert is one of the most awesome drummers in the world but this makes me think you definately need to listen to Also Novas song Fantasy and The Whos song Eminence Front totally taking you to the next step on your musical journey btw you guys rock😍🤙

Three-piece band with a big sound, boys and girls. The revenue splits are a lot better, and everyone gets rich. Easier to agree on musical choices. Add more instruments, and you get the importance of the drummer. Speaking of the drummer, his lyrics are amazing. He is enormous among the free-market crowd and in the liberty movement.
Cool story.....my mom worked in the city and she was on lunch. She saw a group of people waiting in a line to buy something and my mother never liked to miss out on anything lol. So, she got in line and bought 2 tickets to a show. I was 13 years old in the early 80's and she got home that day, and asked me do you know a group name Rush? I said yes and she handed me these tickets and said here I grabbed these at lunch people were waiting in line so I got in line. I started jumping up and down. My mom was an older mom, but pretty cool.
Dude that's great. I was visiting a female friend, she got a call and apparently her friend who was supposed to go to see Springsteen THAT night in Philly, couldn't go. She looked and me and I had a huge smile on my face. This was '80.
@Matterian thank you! I was the 6th child so all the older ones were out of the house. She treated me differently from them. She told me there's nothing I could do that would surprise her lol. I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was 18 and my younger sister was 11. I think of all the things she did different for me with a smile.
Neil Peart was straight up legend. His drum kit was so large, that when they toured the kit would rotate around him and reveal a 2nd drum kit! He would go from one kit to the next while it spun around him. It was insane! And as a result some did not notice that lead singer Geddy Lee was not only singing and playing bass, but he was also playing keys and synthesizers-all at the same time! This trio is one of the greatest acts in hard rock history. BTW Jamie Foxx was introduced to their music while studying at the San Diego Music Conservatory and he is a fan.
06:39 Star inside the circle with a human figure was from their album 2112. The song 2112 proper was like a mini opera, 25 minute long song about a dystopian future where computers rule and all are and tradition are gone. The drummer was a genius - he was the main song writer for the band.
Every time I gave somebody my phone number I would always say to them in attempt to help them remember the last 4 digits, "2112 like the Rush album.".😁👌
Just to take John’s comment a little further. That’s the “Red Star of the Solar Federation.” In the story presented on their album, “2112”, it was the symbol adopted by the evil empire that ruled the world in the story. They suppressed all artistic expression and individuality. The man in front of it holding his arms up in resistance is the protagonist in the story who is brutally repressed by the totalitarian establishment. Since that album was conceived and written during the Cold War between America and the Soviet Union (Russia) some have speculated that the Red Star is a jab at Russia whose national symbol includes a red star.
Rush is in a class by themselves. So many unique attributes, the instrumentation, the talent, the songs, and what happens when they played together was magic.
And most of all their lifelong friendship. I love seeing Geddy and Alex now advertising their beer, drinking wine and just hanging out enjoying each other.
Rush is a band that has purpose for every note and lyric. Nothing is done for filler or as a throw away line. There is so much intelligence and craft to their music.
Rush is one of the best bands of all time and they are from Canada. Geddy Lee on lead vocals, bass guitar, and keyboard. Alex Lifeson on lead guitar, and Neil Peart on drums and he wrote their lyrics🔥🔥.
Peart wrote all the lyrics starting with the 2nd album, "FLY BY NIGHT". and excluding one song "TOM SAWYER", which was written by Pye Dubois (lyrics). The band got a kick out of their highest charting song being written by someone else.
@@robwhitmer5294 Pye also wrote Force Ten, Geddy wrote Tears, and Best I Can, and Geddy and Alex wrote Best I Can and Peter Talbot wrote the lyrics for Closer to the Heart.
And here's a little trivia for ya....."Geddy's" actual name is Gary. So what happened as he was growing up, his mother or grandmother (I don't recall which) was from the old country and pronounced his name Gary as "Geddy" in her heavy accent... and it stuck!
Neil Peart was widely recognised as being the greatest rock drummer ever. Geddy and Alex are also right up there. Welcome to the bottomless Rush rabbit hole
The band has a very libertarian ethos, which always made Rolling Stone Magazine cry like little girls. It's almost criminal to have that much talent in one band. I remember exactly where I was when I heard Neil died. I happened to see the news scrolling across the chyron of a muted television set in a public place. I went to my knees bawling. It was just so unexpected. Onlookers were gawking...I didn't care. I could barely stop crying for two weeks. Thanks for highlighting this elite band. RIP Neil.
I actually cried when Neil died. For so many years he kept touring while really not loving having to ve in the spotlight, biding his time to just enjoy life and relax. And he passed away so rapidly after the band retired. Broke my heart.
The "star" is NOT a Pentagram, it's a Pentacle which is often used in Wicca and other alternative religions or spiritualism. It's a deeply spiritual symbol for many people and not at all associated with evil.
@@ilionreactor1079 exactly, important point. Rush was not supporting or using a Pentacle in a positive way, it represented the evil society the hero of 2112 stood against.
It kinda bums me out that four college students don't know who Tom Soyer is. Maybe I'm being presumptuous. I think you all are in college. Btw, nothing on you all, just a fact of what is being taught these days. I guess newer stuff takes over. Thinking about it, Tom Sawyer probably got canceled. 🥴
They're young, it came out in 1981, before they were even born. There's not many places you will hear it on the radio. I'm glad so many people are reacting to Rush now.
RusH was composed of 3 compulsive perfectionist, and genuine good people that do not have any ego trips that have lead to the demise of many successful bands. Truly GREAT musicians that are also truly great friends.... Resulting in some of the cleanest, tightest most amazing music ever made.
Each of these guys are ultra skilled and so talented at the instruments they play. So much talent in one band and the drumming on this track is mindblowing. Great first choice! You should also check out their instrumental YYZ.
Most people would say Neil (R.I.P.) was indeed an amazing “drummer”, but most importantly an actual, phenomenal “percussionist” and “lyricist”. I highly recommend a live version of “Xanadu”. You guys are amazing. Thanks for your content!!
It's not a pentagram, It's starman from their album 2112, the symbol of the solar federation. By the way, y'all should check out "Freewill" or "The Spirit of Radio." If you want to get into weird stuff, do "2112"
You have now been blessed with the ultimate experience of the worlds best drummer to have ever graced this earth. Welcome to the most down to earth, technically advanced group of three who have a whole collection of great music. Welcome to the Rush family ♡✌
Opened up a door you can't close. Rush fans are like a religious cult. 3 incredible musicians. In my youth I wasn't a fan, but I had to respect them. And Neil is arguably one of the greatest drummers who ever lived. They call him The Professor.
RIP Neil Peart. One of, if not the best drummer, to ever grace the stage.

@sergeeternal3778,
I'll stick with John Henry, although Peart was very good.

@@brucerosin4884 I agree 100%!👌
They call the symbol the Starman. Originally it represented the protagonist of "2112", standing against the Red Star of the Priests of Syrinx.
Ummm, maybe not THE MAIN "SONGWRITER" OF THE BAND, but HE was THE MAIN LYRICIST.
Each of those 3 are legends in their respective instrumental fields.
"Spirit of Radio" is a BANGER from these dudes. They're str8 legends
I agree 110% they need to react to Spirit of Radio. It's totally awesome!
Rush is in a class by themselves. So many unique attributes, the instrumentation, the talent, the songs, and what happens when they played together was magic.
Just a gift given to us are these 3 rip Neil you are to me the goat period taken from us way guys to soon rip sir with your daughter
Neal Peart’s lyrics are deep. College professors have devoted courses to breaking it down.
Rush is one of the best bands of all time and they are from Canada. Geddy Lee on lead vocals, bass guitar, and keyboard. Alex Lifeson on lead guitar, and Neil Peart on drums and he wrote their lyrics🔥🔥.
Every time I saw them live, they were beyond awesome. 3 guys just fucking crushing it.
@@surfeit5910 Thank you so much for the correction. Keep them coming and enjoy more RUSH.
Yeah he worked his butt off to!!!
The astonished amazement I watch wash over peoples faces every time they witness Neil Peart for the first time just gives me immeasurable joy.
The craziest thing about rush is the fact that they can make this kind of music with just 3 people
Chances are live there was a keyboard player in back...their music got more and more keyboard over the years
@@ruthietreselan In those cases, it was sequences that Geddy was controlling via footswitches.
@@doodechannel4024 yep that too
Geddy and Alex said they considered adding a keyboardist but never did.
Canadian music icons.... :) Hard to believe just the three of them could create such a huge sound :) Check out Neil Peart's drum solo :)
RIP Neil.
💗
I really think that calling them libertarians is a severe misinterpretation. The vast majority of libertarians are just oligarchs.
I actually cried when Neil died. For so many years he kept touring while really not loving having to ve in the spotlight, biding his time to just enjoy life and relax. And he passed away so rapidly after the band retired. Broke my heart.
I know how you feel when Neil died I listened to my Rush albums especially his drum solos and cried
I miss the guys but their music is eternal
The "star" is NOT a Pentagram, it's a Pentacle which is often used in Wicca and other alternative religions or spiritualism. It's a deeply spiritual symbol for many people and not at all associated with evil.
In this case, it represents the oppressive establishment, and the Rush version features a man standing AGAINST it.
@@ilionreactor1079 exactly, important point. Rush was not supporting or using a Pentacle in a positive way, it represented the evil society the hero of 2112 stood against.
It's evil in the eyes of God. Just being spiritual does not lead someone to heaven! Accepting and following Jesus is the only way!
@@brianbrooks-in5yy Is a square evil in the eyes of god? Cuz you might be in trouble.
@@mitchelltyler5972 No I'm good! I follow Jesus and I worship him in the right way!
Even after 43 years or so it still sounds good.
Just like a good wine
It kinda bums me out that four college students don't know who Tom Soyer is.
Maybe I'm being presumptuous. I think you all are in college. Btw, nothing on you all, just a fact of what is being taught these days. I guess newer stuff takes over.
Thinking about it, Tom Sawyer probably got canceled. 🥴
*Sawyer*
Just means they're one of today's lucky 10,000.
Canadians are class acts. I love our neighbors to the North.

Each of these guys are ultra skilled and so talented at the instruments they play. So much talent in one band and the drumming on this track is mindblowing. Great first choice! You should also check out their instrumental YYZ.
yyz in Rio. and neil's drum solo in frankfurt
@@metadeth578 Yes! That solo is ridiculous!
@@ComicHorder410 i saw Rush 9 times and they never disappointed me
@@metadeth578 For sure, they are one of those dying breeds of bands where they are better live than they are on their albums.
By the way, y'all should check out "Freewill" or "The Spirit of Radio." If you want to get into weird stuff, do "2112"
This is the most technically perfect rock and roll song ever done. RIP Neil, we all miss your music, you were truly one of a kind.
These guys have been playing music together longer than any of y’all have been alive. They are pure legends.
No one hit wonder gentlemen. One of the greatest prog rock groups of all time.
Plenty to discover...dig in!
Another great 3-man band is Triumph, also Canadian. Lay It on the Line is a classic you must hear.
You have now been blessed with the ultimate experience of the worlds best drummer to have ever graced this earth. Welcome to the most down to earth, technically advanced group of three who have a whole collection of great music. Welcome to the Rush family ♡✌
What Marlena said!!!!!
One of the Great drummers. Not the best drummer of all time by any means. There's no such a thing.
You just witnessed the best drummer in the world. Neil Peart is the "Professor". Neil Peart is your favorite Rock drummer's favorite Rock drummer.
Opened up a door you can't close. Rush fans are like a religious cult. 3 incredible musicians. In my youth I wasn't a fan, but I had to respect them. And Neil is arguably one of the greatest drummers who ever lived. They call him The Professor.
