- Time to kill the last cottonwood trees in the front. I really dislike the cottonwood trees because of all the junk that they drop on the lawn and the suckers that continually come up in the lawn. I have finally had enough. I want to kill the root system so they will not resurface later on in the lawn. The is a proven formula.

When pouring from a jerry can with no spout, turn it upside down so the hole is at the top when pouring. Stops air coming in which stops the fuel glugging and spilling everywhere. Great vid BTW 👌

Conner: Uses 2.5 cups of each instead.
You could also use a long auger bit. 1” or so angled down....pour it right in

Have you tried driving in a 4" copper nail near the base of the stump? Maybe even 3 or 4. Kills trees dead.
I have read that in books but never tried it

I have a cotton-less cottonwood that needs to go.

Why not just cut down the tree now and drill holes in the stumps and pour the root killer in the holes and in a few weeks get a stump grinder and grind the stumps
The way I do it, and people before me have taught me, is just drill like 10 deep-ish holes in the base of the tree, and fill with herbicide (we use zero in australia (glyphosate 490g/L)), and then leave it to absorb it and die. Same thing, no chainsaw or hacking, slicing, physical effort is minimal. You can do it better with a stump too, more surface area so drill as many holes as you can and just drown the thing in herbicide.
Worked wonders on a large pine tree next to our house that all of a sudden turned orange for no reason at all , definitely not because of the glyphosate. 😂

I don’t blame you for wanting a cottonwood tree gone. They have evolved to send out shoots because they grow along rivers where beavers and floods frequently tip them over.
They are terrible trees
